sunday brunch!. for those so inclined on a sunday morning, not wanting to cook but needing their bacon fix, try brunch at the pub! a buffet-style brunch with everything from hearty and delicious biscuits and sausage gravy, bacon and hash-browns with green peppers and onions, to the more health conscious and refreshing fruit (pineapple, melon, grapes), yogurt and even red rock granola! they also serve french toast and made to order omelette's! and because it's the best brunch in town, they throw in some fantastic pot-stickers and giant, gooey, cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting! if you aren't drooling yet, you should be! so check it out, 11-3 on sundays at the poplar street pub.

cheese fries, meet your match!. mouth-watering. crisp. flavorful. addictive!

the garlicfriesat the poplar street pub are the bestfriesaround! pair them with the french dip or grilled chicken sandwich and you'll be in heaven! i had the french dip; toasty soft bread that sops but won't sog with the au jous, mounds of delicious beef, stretchy cheese... it had me picking onions out just for the sake of the onions! the whole thing is portion perfect; fills you up and leaves you with some to go! *wink

whether you sit in the air conditioned ambiance of the bar or opt for the shaded, misted patio, you can't go wrong. i took a booth in the bar and enjoyed being able to see the sun but not having to be in it.

the service is excellent. the ladies who helped serve me were attentive without hovering, had great things to say about the food (she was going to order the french dip, but had it last night!) and were helpful when i needed to use the facilities.

for those so inclined, the poplar street pub has 6 local beers on tap, and plenty of other drinks to suit your mood.

they are even "green-minded": stickers on the paper towel dispensers remind you that "these come from trees". i used half as much as i normally would, and got to feel good about it!

you should plan a party, go for lunch, order a pizza to go!

don't judge a book by its cover. although poplar pub may look a little divey, especially compared to red rock next door, the food is delicious-- high quality ingredients and great flavors. service was friendly and thefriesare to die for!!

great all around!!!. beer on tap is plentiful and prices are reasonable, service is fast and friendly, and the crowd is vibrant. i recommend their prosciutto burger as a must try. it is flavorful, sweet and perfectly cooked every time. a pint of chasing tail to wash it down is a perfect match to their burgers. and they really know how to cook frenchfrieshere, just crispy enough on the outside, chewy inside. theirfriesreally are some of the best around. i enjoy them both regular and garlic style. all of their dishes are at least very good here, so you really can't go wrong.

mostly ok.. i'll put the positive out there first - hands down this place has the best burgers and garlicfriesin town. i've been there three times and have always enjoyed the food.
now the negative - i realize this is a pub. alcohol is served there. i get it. what i don't get is, why the last time i ate here, the waiter felt it appropriate to make fun of me for not drinking. my choice to not drink has nothing to do with the state's predominant religion - i don't belong to that church and i've never belonged to that church. i'm not even from utah originally - but even if i was, how is that in any way appropriate? it's made me so uncomfortable, despite craving the fries, i haven't been able to bring myself to return to poplar street.

hit or miss, heavy emphasis on hit. the service here, the one thing that utah doesn't seem capable of, is impeccable at any time, morning, afternoon, or night. 95% of the time, the food matches right along with it. their sunday brunch spread is fantastic, and these people manage to make one of the best bacon & blue cheese burgers i've ever had without being ostentatious about it. by the time this is written, they should also have added the prosciutto burger (prosciutto w/ crispy tobacco onions) to the menu. the *only* drawback: when theirfriesare well made, these folks put out some of the best garlicfries(unique to utah in their rabid following) i've encountered. having dined here approaching a dozen times, i have had at least one batch of them turn out cold and soggy - not sure if the fryer was @ the wrong temp or if they sat too long before being plated.

overall - you can't go wrong here. this is some of the best "bar food" available in utah, at a reasonable price for more-than-generous portions.
