the other day i went to poplar street pub for the first time for my girlfriend's birthday party and we all found poplar's to be great fun; the staff to all be very nice and helpful; and the food and the drinks to all be delicious and brought to us quickly after we ordered. my girlfriend that had been to poplar street pub before thought it would be a fun idea for us all to meet there and celebrate. when i got there the doorman let me in right away, and he politely said that he would also let in my other friends when they arrived. he suggested using the back area (which worked out great, thanks!) or to use the patio outside for our party. we ending up using the back area for our party because there is a pool table and some other games and my girlfriends and i enjoy playing pool. next time when my girlfriends and i go back we are planning to use the patio outside. it looks like a great place to sit and relax in the summertime. renee

sunday brunch!. for those so inclined on a sunday morning, not wanting to cook but needing their bacon fix, try brunch at the pub! a buffet-style brunch with everything from hearty and delicious biscuits and sausage gravy, bacon and hash-browns with green peppers and onions, to the more health conscious and refreshing fruit (pineapple, melon, grapes), yogurt and even red rock granola! they also serve french toast and made to order omelette's! and because it's the best brunch in town, they throw in some fantastic pot-stickers and giant, gooey, cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting! if you aren't drooling yet, you should be! so check it out, 11-3 on sundays at the poplar street pub.

cheese fries, meet your match!. mouth-watering. crisp. flavorful. addictive!

the garlic fries at the poplar street pub are the best fries around! pair them with the french dip or grilled chicken sandwich and you'll be in heaven! i had the french dip; toasty soft bread that sops but won't sog with the au jous, mounds of delicious beef, stretchy cheese... it had me picking onions out just for the sake of the onions! the whole thing is portion perfect; fills you up and leaves you with some to go! *wink

whether you sit in the air conditioned ambiance of the bar or opt for the shaded, misted patio, you can't go wrong. i took a booth in the bar and enjoyed being able to see the sun but not having to be in it.

the service is excellent. the ladies who helped serve me were attentive without hovering, had great things to say about the food (she was going to order the french dip, but had it last night!) and were helpful when i needed to use the facilities.

for those so inclined, the poplar street pub has 6 local beers on tap, and plenty of other drinks to suit your mood.

they are even "green-minded": stickers on the paper towel dispensers remind you that "these come from trees". i used half as much as i normally would, and got to feel good about it!

you should plan a party, go for lunch, order a pizza to go!

cozy watering hole. poplar street pub has a feel to it that all are welcome. as i sauntered to the bar, i found the bartender greeting me and promptly prepared my drink. all the while another gentleman ran around restocking glasses and helping to pour beers when the bartender got busy. the gentleman next to me struck up a conversation. a few minutes later, the people i was meeting arrived and we found ourselves a table. the server was friendly and knowledgable and steered us in the right direction. the pizza was great for a bar pizza and the fish tacos also surprisingly good. i'll likely be back for a meal and definitely be back for drinks. i think i've found my cheers in salt lake.

i went to brunch the other sunday and i gotta say i'm surprised i haven't found this place earlier! there omelettes they make to order were extremely delicious and they make fresh waffles when ever you want! the best part was the sitting out on the patio bar eating brunch and drinking a cold one. i'll defiantly be back next sunday

love it!. i've been frequenting the poplar street pub for a while now, and i have to say it's been a wonderful place to see grow and flourish.

there are many different live bands that play each week, which gives a fun atmosphere, and now that it's warming up, the patio is a perfect spot to enjoy the night air and a basket of delicious garlic fries.

the people that seem to frequent the bar are a nice crowd, and it's easy to make new friends just by chatting with a neighbor. the bartenders and waitresses seem to genuinely care and enjoy working at the pub.

all in all, i love the place!

not just a bar, poplar street has a menu of delicious dining options. delicious appetizers like scotch eggs, chicken wings, fries, and salads. delicious pizza, burgers, steak, or fish in chips in murphy's batter. best of all, a great selection of beers on

i was the designated driver. my two girlfriends ran in for last call right at closing at 0100 (10/14/2017) and they were allowed a shot and a beer. the occasion was a friend's birthday. all i wanted was to remain in their company. they discriminated and played the exception game. the bouncer used bully and scare tactics against me. he had me wait outside. needless to say, he allowed my friends in. entry and drinking are not the same thing. the dabc will hear about this.

terrible service!! we were asking the bartender what drinks were good and trying to order and i told the bartender what i wanted like five times but he wasnt listening. then management came over and told the bar tender to get rid of us. the bartender then told us that we had to order or leave and wouldn't stop talking long enough for me to tell him i knew what i wanted. they blamed it on the "line" but the other end of the bar was empty. i always leave a tip but you can guarantee this time i didn't.

i used to come to poplar all the time, it was the first date with my wife, but the management is terrible now. right when you walk in it used to be friendly, but now its a person on his phone, texting, asking for ids rather than welcoming you and politely asking. i haven't had a worse experience then two nights ago.

i wanted to take the wife out for a drink and dinner two days ago and the front desk id checker couldn't have been ruder. ben i think his name was. the owner, he said he was i am not sure if its true he had a big beard, was just as rude when i asked to speak with him. the owner obviously does not know how to run an establishment, and needs to train his employees better; so that people remember the experience. i'll remember that experience and will not be recommending this place to anyone. training would def. help this place so that people want to come back. i don't write reviews often but this deserves less then 1 star.

i would go elsewhere there are so many better bars, even red rock right next door is run so much better. murphys, the beerhive, whiskey street, i could go on and on with better bars in the area. do not go here! unless you want rude service and incompetent employees that just want to get through their shift.

we've been there twice and both times the service was horrible. soooo slow. we made the mistake of ordering food both times and it took us over an hour to get out of there. if we were just there to drink it wouldn't have been bad. but since we wanted to eat, it screwed everything up. the waitress was extremely inefficient and kept leaving and coming back and each round trip took 10 minutes. we've ate at plenty of pubs around salt lake and this level of non service is unique to this one. i would not recommend ever going there for food and drinks if you have somewhere to be. it was around 6pm so maybe that had something to do with it. but the place only had about 10 other people in it so i don't know. we weren't greeted so we walked in and found a place to sit. we had to go hunt down a waitress (both times) just to get the ball rolling. as you can imagine with the time and everything people were getting hungry quickly. over all, just terrible terrible service.

are you kidding?. this seems to be the only place that serves food after 11pm. how unfortunate. first, you get nicked with a $3 cover charge. for what? is there entertainment other than tvs? next, you get to wait a while for someone to bring you a menu. which is an event that results in mediocre food. the bison burger, ordered medium rare, came out dry as toast, and thinner than a mcdonald's burger. and less tasty than a mcd's burger. garlic fries? equally bland. and the salsa for the chips is the weakest i've ever tasted. might be a good place to pick someone up, but for food, head to a fast food joint.

don't judge a book by its cover. although poplar pub may look a little divey, especially compared to red rock next door, the food is delicious-- high quality ingredients and great flavors. service was friendly and the fries are to die for!!
