cheese fries, meet your match!. mouth-watering. crisp. flavorful. addictive!

the garlic fries at the poplar street pub are the best fries around! pair them with the french dip or grilled chicken sandwich and you'll be in heaven! i had the french dip; toasty soft bread that sops but won't sog with the au jous, mounds of delicious beef, stretchy cheese... it had me picking onions out just for the sake of the onions! the whole thing is portion perfect; fills you up and leaves you with some to go! *wink

whether you sit in the air conditioned ambiance of the bar or opt for the shaded, misted patio, you can't go wrong. i took a booth in the bar and enjoyed being able to see the sun but not having to be in it.

the service is excellent. the ladies who helped serve me were attentive without hovering, had great things to say about the food (she was going to order the french dip, but had it last night!) and were helpful when i needed to use the facilities.

for those so inclined, the poplar street pub has 6 local beers on tap, and plenty of other drinks to suit your mood.

they are even "green-minded": stickers on the paper towel dispensers remind you that "these come from trees". i used half as much as i normally would, and got to feel good about it!

you should plan a party, go for lunch, order a pizza to go!

stellar service and sunday brunch. i usually don't write a review, but felt compelled to afterbrunchtoday at poplar. amazing sundaybrunchbuffet - so many things to choose from! if you order a waffle or an omelet, they ask where you are sitting and bring it to you! none of this waiting around stuff. when my omelet was brought to me, i asked if i had missed the ketchup and where i could go and get it. the amazingbrunchserver, told me not to worry, that he would get it for me. and, he came back and asked me if i needed anything else. not put out, not irritated, nothing. amazing. great mimosas, great sunday football crowd. (wish i could remember the names of the two guys working thebrunchstation. they were fantastic and provided better service than i have seen in some fine dining establishments.) we will definitely be back!

hit or miss, heavy emphasis on hit. the service here, the one thing that utah doesn't seem capable of, is impeccable at any time, morning, afternoon, or night. 95% of the time, the food matches right along with it. their sundaybrunchspread is fantastic, and these people manage to make one of the best bacon & blue cheese burgers i've ever had without being ostentatious about it. by the time this is written, they should also have added the prosciutto burger (prosciutto w/ crispy tobacco onions) to the menu. the *only* drawback: when their fries are well made, these folks put out some of the best garlic fries (unique to utah in their rabid following) i've encountered. having dined here approaching a dozen times, i have had at least one batch of them turn out cold and soggy - not sure if the fryer was @ the wrong temp or if they sat too long before being plated.

overall - you can't go wrong here. this is some of the best "bar food" available in utah, at a reasonable price for more-than-generous portions.
