went here on a friday night for dinner, ordered a lovely tasting pimms cocktail to start with!
i orderd the mozzarella n cherry tomato foccacia for starters which was delicious. i was served my main after which was the eye fillet steak served with mushroom sauce, the meal was absolutely delicious ! the steak was cooked exactly how i asked n was so soft to eat, not chewy at all. it came with garlic potatoes and mushrooms which accompanied the steak very well.
overall the meal was worth the money and the service was very friendly and attentive! would go back again and reccomend to others who enjoy a steak meal with a relaxed unpretentious atmosphere.

came in for a work project celebration on a thursday lunch time.  very impressed!  the changing face of footscray.  modern, bright and not at all what i expected in terms of interior.   friendly, attentive service (it was pretty quiet though).  excellent, modern menu with plenty of healthy options including a rice pudding which i managed to squeeze in after a haloumi starter and tamarind chicken salad.  everyone in our party was very happy with the food and service.  although i didn't have one there is an excellent range of craft beers and the wine list looked pretty good too.

i really didn’t want to rate the plough hotel this low, especially when i have heard many good reviews from friends.
started off with lovely service. seated to our table and immediately supplied water to the table. then it immediately went downhill. we didn’t get menus for 20mins, had to go up ourselves and asked for the menu.
still waiting for our orders to be taken another 25mins later, trying to get the waitresses attention.
food finally arrived, parma was average. pork belly was lovely, but the mexicana pizza was a disappointment. really salty, thought it was just the once slice but it was the same with the next slice. we had to alert the staff and ended up getting an apology and got offered something else on the menu or a refund. we stuck with the refund. if you have a look st the photo, the pizza itself didn’t look appealing. homemade pizza and even pizza delivery companies would have at least looked better and tasted better.
highlight: moscato, nice fruity punch.
lovely interior/atmosphere, got really hot and sweaty at times on a 26 degree day, no doors/windows opened, just 2 fans no air conditioner.
won’t be returning.

pretty noisy on a friday night which we expected. great service from the waiters. very impressed that they offer vegan cheese on their pizzas. waiters helpful with ordering vegan options. highly recommend the carrot & kale salad and zucchini flower pizza. might be our new go to for takeaway pizza.

there's nothing better than a pub that dishes out top notch pub grub and footscray is lucky enough to have such an establishment. entree, we ordered the crab & corn croquettes which were soft and moist on the inside and crispy on the outside and served with a creme fraiche sauce. we also had the goats cheese soufflé and what a stunning dish it is and served with beetroot relish. the soufflé is a must have dish here, it's really is that good! for mains there were two standout dishes that we all agreed on, these being the the great southern flat iron steak and the twiced cook western plains pork belly. the steak is a melt in the mouth experience and the pork belly is perfectly balanced by the sage and onion stuffing, walnut crumble and apple and balsamic sauce. what would have made the dish perfect would have been crackling though the skin of the pork was deliberately served soft which many people like. the only dish not enjoyed by the table was the cannelloni as it was drowned in cheese sauce to the point where you could not see the cannelloni. the trip to footscray is worth it for the people of flemington, ascot vale & kensington who lack a pub serving food of this standard, seriously you will not be disappointed.

went to the plough last week and it was great they fit us in as the last reservation on a saturday night. dinner and service at 9:30pm was great and then when we were ready to order deserts we received a fair bit of attitude with menus thrown across the table, and from that we thought maybe we won't go ahead with that and then when the last waiter standing came back asked if we were keen so we declined. from that instant he (the waiter) celebrated quite obviously and within distance we heard him scream across to the kitchen that they were free of any more cooking!!! don't think this sort of service should be so obvious to paying customers regardless of day or time. don't expect too much if you go late at night.

service friendly. food included beetroot salad, spicy calamari that wasn’t, croquettes, sardines, rocket salad, burger, hanger steak, lamb roast rump, pork belly, rice pudding, pudding, brûlée. all tasted ok. no “wow” moment though. conversation between the four of us never paused to say “this food is fantastic”. it tasted good. a solid if unspectacular 3.

came here on a busy night but was lucky enough to get a table without a booking. was greeted by a really friendly guy who got us some garlic pizza. the service overall was very friendly and the staff were making sure everything was okay without being pushy. the chicken parma was big and so yummy. the decor inside was great with a cosy homely feel. a great little pub in footscray. two thumbs up!

dined here for lunch on saturday with friends as a group of 4. we shared the grilled haloumi with baba ghanoush, cucumber, mint and dukkah and the garlic, rosemary and fior focaccia. both dishes very tasty and good way to start a meal. for main i had the fish of the day, was barramundi and it was super delicious, loved the parmesan crackling it came with. other mains ordered were chicken parma and beef burger and another fish and all enjoyed their meals. for a drink i enjoyed the elderflower mocktail which was a delicious combo of lime, mint, ginger and soda and i loved how it is served in my own carafe. service was friendly and prompt. we have dined here before with the same group of friends and the food/service was just as good back then so we will be back again as the food is always so fresh and delicious here and menu changes regularly. they have parking also for guests which is great bonus.

wow!  whether it's for the food, which is extraordinary, or for the service, which is even more extraordinary, would highly recommend the plough.  i don't know her name but there is one staff member there who is probably one of the best wait people in town, so smooth and unobtrusive and also very welcoming.  their food is to die for.

quite impressed with this place! i really liked the layout, very spacious and a nice vibe.
the food was yummy also, had the kingfish for entree, cheese soufflé as a main, and the chocolate tart for dessert. the soufflé was the standout, i would highly recommend.
would definitely return again... thanks for a lovely night plough hotel!

i've been here countless times for drinks, they have a lovely beer garden at the back which is a great spot for smokers. i've been at the restaurant a couple of times as well and really enjoyed the food, especially the tapas! service is organised and efficient.

came in for dinner last night at 7:30 with a group of seven particularly for the much advertised roast pork special. we all ordered the special, but after ordering were then unfortunately told there were no servings left. very disappointing. i then ordered the pie special, only to have the waiter return with news the kitchen had also run out of this item. i would suggest that if menu items, particularly a publicised special are running low, that the kitchen at least keep the floor staff up to date. for the future roast specials i would expect to be able to arrive at 7:30 and not be told there are no servings available. the food we ordered instead was good, but more expensive, and not the food we had all come in expectation of. the waiter did a good job in spite of difficulties.

addendum: the manager contacted our group promptly with an apology for our experience, and an invitation to attend at a future date. i'm very satisfied with this outcome and look forward to another meal here.
