stillgreatpizza!. my first taste of uno's was when i was stationed atgreatlakes navy base back in the 80s and we took the train in for the weekend.

had never eaten deep dish pizza before, but i was sold after the first bite!

it's a bit dated after all these years, (as other reviews have stated) but still a dang good deep dish pie!

love the bar and beer selection too.

chicago’s original inventors of deep-dish pizza, in 1943. waiting time for the pizza is between 40-45 mins. ordered their signature deep dish pizza which was outstanding. loved it, the dough airy and edges crisp at the same time. also ordered their gluten free pizza which was amazing. their mozzarella sticks were delicious too.
overall a rustic place withgreatambience and service.

i always heard about deep dish pizza and when i arrived to chicago this was on my list!

the pizza is great, the servicegreattoo,
the only let down is the waiting time for a take away single pizza 1 hour and was just before dinner time, i will recommend order on line and pick up, the place is always packed so good atmosphere too.

something strange is drinks are ordered and paid separately from the food, that's make it complex as queues are long for both.

besides that is agreatplace and planning come back every time i'm back in chicago.

we had the uno signature deep dish! think of it like a supreme with no pineapples and glorified goodness of tones of cheese and filling! it was magnificent! for anyone who loves pizza it’s a must try!

first thing we checked out was uno's after getting to chicago. heard it was the best. it definitely delivered. there is indoor seating as well as the bar and two outdoor seating areas. we sat outside and still hadgreatservice. highly enjoyed the cheese stick appetizer & the meatballs in marinara appetizer.
really enjoyed the numero uno pizza, chicago style of course. had a number of cocktails and beers(local goose island) all which were excellent and came quickly even sitting outside. service was excellent. i mean great!! recommended!!

the pizza wasgreatbut there was something amiss.. maybe we ordered it wrong - we had the deep dish with pepperoni, bbq chicken toppings. or maybe expectation was bit higher. but still it is worth every bit and must- visit for tourists who want to try the famous deep dish chicago style..

great original pizza. okay, here's a bit of pizza information. pizza in chicago is changing, deep dish is no longer the king, there are many new influences that are being introduced and the pizza culture is changing.

however the one that started the deep dish, will forever hold a special place, and yes its true with some of the other reviews the service is slow, but let me say its due to the fact that uno's still uses same 1943 recipe for their crust unlike many other deep dish places. so service on a pie will be usually 45-60mins depending on how busy the place is.

now for the pizza, we ordered the:

numero uno
a 'works' pizza with sausage, pepperoni, onions, peppers(held), mushrooms, chunky tomato sauce. topped with mozzarella & romano.

simple, amazing, beautiful crust, not soggy (as some reported), heavy with the toppings, greattomato sauce.

it was a good pie, no complaints. can't ask for anything better.

we ate here yesterday and ordered the calamari to start and a small numero uno pizza as our main dish. i would not order the calamari again, it was terrible. although i shouldn't have expected much since this place is famous for deep dish pizza. there were just two of us and a small deep dish had us stuffed. the pizza crust was crispy and everything tasted fresh and yummy. also, there were free refills on soda. i'd highly recommend this place to anyone for agreattaste of chicago.

must try for visitors. if you are someone who is visiting chicago you probably know that you should try the cities famous creation of deep dish pizza. but for someone who does not understand how it works it could stop you from enjoying it so let me help you out. pizzeria uno is the original deep dish place in the city. what happens is that it takes about 45 minutes to cook your pizza so no matter what the lineup outside the restaurant is, you will still have to wait 45 minutes. you order the pizza first and then if you plan on staying, you can order drinks and sit outside in the dazzling chicago nightlife waiting for your pizza to cook. now this restaurant is so popular that there is a huge line every single night. do not let this keep you away because like i said, the first thing you do is order the pizza and then you start waiting for a table and then because it takes 45 minutes to cook your pizza, but the time it's done, a table will have for sure opened up for you and you will almost never wait longer to get in than it takes for your pizza to cook. most of the time, a table opens up at the same time your pizza is finished cooking. i do not recommend this restaurant for anyone who is extremely hungry and cannot wait to eat but if you're looking to get the real chicago experience and eat somegreatpizza than this is for you. and yes, the decor of the restaurant is amazing with historic articles all over the walls and the pizza is some of the best i've ever had. the prices are more than fair and the varieties of sizes and flavors are just right. this place is absolutely perfect. the last thing that i wanted to mention is that just up the street is a restaurant named pizzeria duo which is actually the same restaurant exactly just #2 (duo). it has the same menu and style of ordering as before so going there would give you the same amazing experience. not to mention that duo is built in a building that was built almost 150 years ago! thanks for reading!

good pizza. the resteraunt makes a dang good pizza. it has the most tangy, perfect sauce that accompanies and offsets the undesirable aftertaste of meat. the crust was a little on the heavy side, but then again it's deep dish pizza. the actual resteraunt is dark and crowded, but it doesn't really subtract from the experiance. so overall, it was agreatdining experiance.

pizzeria uno = good grub!. it's time to man up. sure it's in the 80's back home, and it's in the 30's out here … and the wind makes it feel like your face is getting a rub down from a pineapple … but the streets are alive and the pizza is freaking unreal! four words … totally, worth, it … boyeeeeee. i know it's been pretty well documented, but i love myself some pizza … especially that of the chicago persuasion. from zachary's to pizano's, we've dipped our grub-toe into some of the finest. but this time around, it was time to try one of the originals. so say hello to pizzeria uno … the mouth-watering and belly-rumbling chicago pizzeria that started it all. like a journey to the west wall, i have found the holy land … and my followers … it is delicious. like allgreatgrub-spots, the line is out the door as we arrive … but have no fear, because even though the wait is about an hour, it takes the bubbling pizza pie about that long to be whipped up from scratch, and they let you put in your order with your name … or vice versa. hello i'm medium stuffed spinach and mushroom, table for … whatever you'd give me. seriously, i'd eat it sitting cross-legged on the floor if it meant i got to shave five minutes off sinking my teeth into a slice of their … thick, sweet-and-savory, buttery-crusted, bursting with loads of toppings, cheese, and thick-chunked tomatoes … pizza pie. while we waited for our bounty, we took down a couple of pints of 312 and honkers ale from goose island, a chicago brewery, which primes the belly for the insanity about to ensue. and that's exactly what it was … absolute insanity. let's just say, uno's slice can throw down with any of the greats that the good grub has encountered. with a slightly sweeter sauce and crust, and toppings that are a little more packed-in and closer to the surface, each bite was bursting with flavor and bringing a giant smile to our faces. match that up with the old-school feel of the place, and our waitress marty (aka happy gilmore's grandma … oh, now your backs going to hurt, because you just pulled landscaping duty) … and it was one of the top grub-sessions yet. so make your pilgrimage to the corner of ohio and wabash, weave your way through the line of hungry patrons, and get ready to dive headfirst … directly into the deep dish.
