one of the bestpizzaplaces in downtown detroit. the deep dishpizzais a local favourite. we had the papalis gourmet which came with feta cheese,spinach and grilled chicken. the wings with habanero sauce and celery and ranch are excellent starters. the deep dish takes about 45-30 mins to cook. but it's definitely worth the wait. value for money as a small deep dish is enough for two people.

on a recent visit to detroit, i was told to trypizzapapalis for their chicago style deep dish pizzas. we were 4 people and had the gourmet chicken deep dish pizza...it takes 45 mins to make so it's better to get the order in quickly. while we waited for thepizzawe had mozzarella cheese sticks and feta spinach garlic bread with a pitcher of some chilled beer. the mozzarella sticks were really crispy and cheesy hitting just the right spot with the chilled beer. then came thepizzaand it was just delicious, with the mariana sauce made so well and filled with chicken..yumm.. service was really friendly and helpful.

i have pretty tried everypizzaplace in the local are and hands downpizzapapalis is the absolute bestpizzain michigan or anyplace i have been. the wait staff is very knowledgeable and can tell you what size you need if you want leftovers or just enough for there. at least our waitress was very thorough with our order.

mind you thepizzatakes a while to cook 30 to 40 minutes but i tell you it is more than worth waiting. i would have waited an hour thepizzawas the more incredible tastingpizzaever. not to saucy and the vegetables are fresh tasting...i wish i had a picture of it. if you are ever in the metro detroit area....please make sure you try the pizza.

the place is located in a great location. appetizer bread was not fresh. too many employees hanging out playing on there i phone.pizzacame out ok.

pizza papalis has a menu thats quite exotic and was hoping to have some greatpizzawhen we arrived. super crowded for a saturday evening and we had deep dishpizzaand a chicken pizza. the deep dish was apparently their specialty, but didnt taste so good, with just cheese and ketchup. the chickenpizzawas also nothing noteworthy or worth trying again. the place was so loud so may be it is quite popular but its definitely not in my list of favorites. the service was good though

goodpizzaand good service. their thin crust is sooo good. the restaurant is huge and pretty nice. our waiter was super nice and friendly. i would definitely come back.

while it might be the closest thing to a chicago stylepizzain michigan, it's not close enough to warrant the price or 35 minute wait. the crust was just bland city, and the texture was completely wrong. i've eaten at all of the big chicago namesakes (gino's east, pizzeria uno, lou malnatti's, and giordano's, which is my favorite). this style is more like giordano'spizzathan the others, but again, the crust is wrong, the toppings are of a lower quality, and the cheese is too moist. just nothing to write home about. and, the breadsticks were a flat-out "wtf?!?" disappointment. dry (had clearly been sitting around a while reaffirmed by the fact they came 2 minutes after we ordered them), near flavorless, and served with sysco/gfs cheese whiz?!? i don't even... ick. our service was ok, at least. and the atmosphere is pleasant enough. doubt i'll be back anytime soon, though.

pizza papalis has the best deep dishpizzain the world!!!  i love their seafood deep dish pizza.  i hope this company add a location in indianapolis.  this restaurant is one of the places i miss since moving from detroit.

city staple. although the deep dishpizzaare extremely good, recently i have found that the greek town location is not as clean as it once was years ago. very dusty and the bathrooms were horrible.

you don't come this close to chicago and not get a chicago deep dish! the search for the best ended at greektown!pizzapapalis taverna puts out the best deep dish i have had in the states! the greek salad was spectacular as well. i will crave this pizza... yummo

bad experience! thepizzawas great but took over an hour to arrive at our table. as we were eating, my son discovered a plastic drink lid in the bottom of his water glass. it was pretty disgusting. the waitress apologized and talked to the manager. the manager did not feel it justified taking time to talk to us about it, and instructed his waitress to offer another glass of water.
so i won't be back! what an arrogant organization! they obviously have too many customers to be concerned with satisfaction.

if you’re a fan of chicago-style, this is one of the few places outside of chicago that does it right. if it wasn’t for buddy’s,pizzapapalis would be my detroitpizzapick. even with buddy’s, it’s high on the list.

yummy and great service!. i had a great time with friends last night atpizzapapalis! our server was great and our food was delicious. the medium sauce on our wings was phenomenal. and seriously aside from our own good times we had a great time people watching the people on monroe street in greektown. lastly, thepizzawas amazing. the crust on the meatlovers was perfect and sauce was totally yummy. the only bad thing i have to say is the use of iceberg on my salad was sort of disappointing. i like romaine or mixed greens but even the rest of my ingredients on my small greek salad were good.
