what a disappointing outing... i have heard such great things about pigalle, but thefoodwas such a let down. the setting is fancy and the waiters are professional, service was excellent overall, just a pity about the food.
for starters we had a deep fried calamari special which was quite bland and the calamari was chewy. the fact that it was deep fried and battered didn’t help. it was something i would expect to get from a local pub.
for mains i had the duck a l’orange. it was so dry and chewy, and there definitely wasn’t enough sauce to even try and save the meal. the veg and potatoes weren’t bad, but for such a pricey meal the average sides shouldn’t be the highlight. my boyfriend ordered the chicken supreme and he had the same problem as the chicken was again very dry. the risotto also wasn’t great and the rice was quite hard.
for dessert i ordered the chocolate fondant which was quite delicious. definitely the best course of the evening.
everything was beautifully presented and the little palette cleansers in between are a nice touch, but for the price of all thefooditems i definitely expected a lot more.
