best italian inlajolla for 20+ years. been coming here since i was a child, what can i say, it has never let me down. best cioppino i've ever had, and they have an amazing wine list. i can honestly say that i've had everything on their menu and it is all incredible.

i ordered the garlic mashed potatoes, herb chicken and spinach and my mom ordered a cheese ravioli. the ravioli is wonderful and the mashed potatoes are the best mashed potatoes i have ever in my life. i would also recommend ordering the lasagna as the people next to me ordered it and it looked pretty good :p the ambiance is lovely and their ac figuratively helps you survive the hotlajolla sunlight. the attendants are cheerful and polite. i would definitely recommend this place if you are craving italian at thelajolla beach.

great food, great service; a 5/5 rating. this is a "must come back" restaurant. great food, great service (tim), and an overall great experience. no flaws (other than the noise level when the place it is packed - and it was on a wed night!). much to my surprise, this is a "chain' with 8 other locations in ca, 1 in co, 2 in tx and 1 in wa. but, if you look at their website, it is clear that each chef "crafts his menus based on the seasonality and availability of the local product within his area – from the seaports of seattle to the farmer’s markets of northern california." well, the chef at thelajolla really created a great selection of high quality food.

tim, our server, was friendly and attentive. started with the herbed cauliflower cakes and the polenta with sauteed mushrooms - wow, tasty! then, the beet salad. two entries were tried - the ricotta-butternut squash ravioli with a walnut sage cream sauce and the veal scaloppini with a lemon-caper piccata, sauteed spinach, and mushroom risotto cakes. absolutely the best!

can't wait to come back; and, for that matter, will try the other locations when i travel to the cities where they are located - that is how impressed i was with piattalajolla.

fabulous homemade italian food. in search of a good italian place i came across piattilajolla. the reviews were great and picture of the restaurant itself, appealing. when i called they could only accommodate us on the outdoor patio which was plenty warm and a good sign that they were busy on a sunday.

the homemade pasta was divine.i couldn't decide between the butternut squash ravioli with sage cream and walnuts or the ricotta and spinach with tomato sauce.the chef kindly did a half order of each. i oohed and she'd with every bite.my husband had the risotto with prawns leeks and tomatoes. also delicious. we shared the carpaccio appetizer and still managed to find room for dessert.i had the ciccolata, a rich dense flourless chocolate cake which was a bit over whelming but good. my husband two scoops of gelato. very good also. we will be back!

a fabulous meal with incredible service. i had the brussels sprouts and chicken and it was delicious. the atmosphere was beautiful.lajolla is a wonderful place to come visit. the cocktails were fabulous. we had such a wonderful time. we are looking forward to the next time that we are coming to california

i cannot say enough positive things about our experiences at piatti - the service, the atmosphere & the food were each unbelievable & surpassed all expectations - hands down our favorite restaurant during our honeymoon inlajolla. the first evening in town, my husband & i did not have reservations & the restaurant was crowded, however within minutes the extremely pleasant hostess seated us at a lovely table on the patio beneath beneath a beautiful tree and twinkle lights. the wait staff was equally pleasant & very attentive. both my husband's & my entrees were delicious - however we both agreed that the saffron pappardelle was the best dish we tasted while inlajolla. the entrees were elegant & were quite flavorful without being over-sauced and over-salted, as seems to be the case with some italian restaurants. after such a positive experience on our first evening in town, we returned on our final night - we made reservations online & were greeted with "congratulations & happy honeymoon" wishes by the hostess & were promptly seated on the same gorgeous patio at our request. on our second visit, the service & the food were consistent with the wonderful experience we had on our first night - above all expectations. i am so thankful we wandered into piatti and would happily return tolajolla just so we could eat there again.

i could move to southern california for this restaurant!. we recently enjoyed a vacation inlajolla. during our trip, we celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary, and my husband had covertly(!) made arrangements with piatti's event coordinator (kasey) for a special table for us. the evening was superb ... from the welcome by the hostess ("happy anniversary", said sincerely), the customized menu inscribed with our names and happy anniversary, to the excellent attention from a delightful server, and the delicious meal itself. i enjoyed an appetizer of herbed cauliflower cakes with roasted pepper aioli; my husband had the semolina fried calamari. my main dish was the fish special of mahi mahi, bursting with flavour and super tender, served with market vegetables, while my husband's choice was cavatappi, with housemade italian sausage, mushrooms, roasted tomatoes and parmesan. we were sated by the time it came to dessert, but out of the blue came a complementary plate of tiramisu (which rates as the best i've ever enjoyed). although we were full, it actually was no hardship finding a little extra space for our light and delectable sweet.
we were still inlajolla for christmas, and decided to re-visit piatti for christmas eve. the atmosphere in this restaurant is warm and welcoming, and we have the impression it is a firm favourite among the local residents. our christmas eve dinner was also a tribute of outstanding service, delicious food (creamy risotto with scallops and asparagus and a seafood linguine) and yes, this time we left room for a repeat order of tiramisu.
the wine list is comprehensive and competitively priced.
i'd say this was the best meal we had during our entire time in southern california. thanks to all the staff involved!

this was a fantastic find! we are at the bar primarily because the bartender was so intent on finding us a great place to sit. we generally enjoy eating at the bar, and it saved us waiting for a table. the service was wonderful; the bartenders were very attentive and offered their food suggestions. we started with their portabella mushroom soup special (awesome!) and selected the butternut squash ravioli and veggie ravioli for our entrees. both dishes ranked among the best we've ever had. we would definitely return on our next trip tolajolla!

piatti is located in thelajolla shores area, a haven for fine dining and fine shopping. from the exterior, the restaurant resembles a converted old house. we only saw the main dining room while ferrying our delightful dachshunds to the outdoor patio, but the terms “close quarters” and “cozy” came to mind. the ambiance at the patio is distinctly italian. its cynosure is a towering, thick ficus tree in the patio’s center with branches that provide shade. tables surround the tree in a concentric pattern. a burbling fountain, a wall which provides privacy and lots of brick complete the atmosphere.

best fine dining inlajolla. i can't find one thing on the menu that isn't top notch. the food is outstanding and truly italian. the service is excellent, lately taylor has waited on us frequently and we really enjoy her recommendations based on her knowledge of our likes.

voulez vous for lunch or breakfast, piatti for dinner. btw, piatti's weekend brunches are excellent.

piattilajolla. last night was the second time we ate at piatti and both times were equally enjoyable. this isn't your typical red sauce and meatball italian restaurant. if you're into trying some great braised dishes with pasta and risoto and wood fired pizza, this place is for you. piatti has a nice dinning room, but the patio is even better. if you make reservations ask for patio seating. the food is unpretentious and well priced. the salads are great, especially the grilled romain with prosciutto. we've had pasta dishes on both occasions and a risoto that was hearty and rich. desert was appetizing, but a little heavy, so save room for it.

piatti is always great!. went to piatti's inlajolla, ca today with a couple of girlfriends and had one of my favorites...herb roasted chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed spinach. it's a regular menu item there and it's always consistently good. i love the atmosphere and the service was excellent! the only problem is finding a parking spot close by in that area (la jolla shores). always a challenge in the summer with tourists and surfers.

very very good cucina rustica!!. piatti inlajolla is very consistent great cucina rustica italian food. i've been eating on and off here for over 12 years and have always had a great meal. risotto is my favorite here!! excellent food!!!!

always great at piatti. i have been going to piatti since it first opened inlajolla....it has always been at the top of my list for where to go when i want to have great food, wonderful atmosphere, good service and just a fine night out.....whether it's a celebration or just a quiet night with a friend, i am always happy when i leave.....
thanks to the fine staff, i am always looked after....
go...you will really enjoy it...and try and dine on the patio...it's one of the loveliest spots in san diego......
