had never been to this place. won’t go back. not nearly in the class of the dearly departed bravo, which used to be just east on fair oaks. service ok. room ok, except for the dinky table with barely enough room for utensils and dishes, much less lunch. food below average and an insult to any halfway decent italian restaurant. would have much rather travelled 15 miles to espanol to get reallygoodfamily cooking. walked out with upset stomachs from crummy calamari. overpriced, too, viz., $8.50 for 2 scoops of gelato, total over $60 for so-so pizza and sides. wouldn’t recommend this place to anybody i respect.

i ordered the garlic mashed potatoes, herb chicken and spinach and my mom ordered a cheese ravioli. the ravioli is wonderful and the mashed potatoes are the best mashed potatoes i have ever in my life. i would also recommend ordering the lasagna as the people next to me ordered it and it looked prettygood:p the ambiance is lovely and their ac figuratively helps you survive the hot la jolla sunlight. the attendants are cheerful and polite. i would definitely recommend this place if you are craving italian at the la jolla beach.

fabulous homemade italian food. in search of agooditalian place i came across piatti la jolla. the reviews were great and picture of the restaurant itself, appealing. when i called they could only accommodate us on the outdoor patio which was plenty warm and agoodsign that they were busy on a sunday.

the homemade pasta was divine.i couldn't decide between the butternut squash ravioli with sage cream and walnuts or the ricotta and spinach with tomato sauce.the chef kindly did a half order of each. i oohed and she'd with every bite.my husband had the risotto with prawns leeks and tomatoes. also delicious. we shared the carpaccio appetizer and still managed to find room for dessert.i had the ciccolata, a rich dense flourless chocolate cake which was a bit over whelming but good. my husband two scoops of gelato. verygoodalso. we will be back!

my 23rd birthday dinner. when my family and i first arrived to our table... we were all surprised that we had a personalized menu that wished me a happy birthday on it! next, the service was great. our waitress was attentive, funny, and you could tell she was having agoodtime serving us. next the food was amazing. the pizza is great... pasta... and the meatballs. at the end the waitress brought out a slice of dessert for me with a candle in it! super nice touch at the end :).
the ambiance is nice... and the place is always full of people which is nice company.
highly recommend this restraunt to anyone.

really good, a little loud. really really good. pretty loud... didn't rush us though for being so busy. i've been in other restaurants as busy and just isn't as loud. stillgoodthough! professional servers.

fabulous meal and atmosphere. we enjoyed an outside table on the lovely patio.goodselection of wines by the glass.
started with the field greens salad with feta and fennel and blood oranges. very tasty and citrusy. entree was vesuvio pasta with cherries, broccoli, garlic and parmesan. was very light and delicious. vesuvio is a volcano shaped pasta. the wait staff was very helpful to split both the salad and pasta entree on request.
also delicious were the lasagna and the pizza with basil and goat cheese.
love this place!

expect small portions and limited menu. stange that there are more pizzas than pasta choises for a fine italian resturant. wine wasgoodthough.

food declined substantially since the remodel. hope they return to prior quality. sauces just not verygoodby comparison-- less tomatoey, less complex, but better coffee. no more 1/2 portions of pastas, which makes it more pricey. lets hope they work it out.

piatti was recommended by front desk clerk at our hotel- she didnt steer us wrong. our waitress, cassie, was lots of fun & knowledgeably steered us thru the menu. nice selection of apps,goodpasta and tasty pizza. brick-cooked chicken a big hit too. will go again next time i'm in town

big group. went as a business dinner. we had a group of 14. service was excellent and they did not rush us to leave. i found the restaurant very loud. we were sitting as the first table to look into the open kitchen and the noise level was very high. appetizers were good. nicely done on the calamari, i liked the flavor of the breading. had the salmon special, and it was special. great flavor in the salmon and the bed of barley went well with the fish. desert wasgoodbut not special. overall agoodexperience.

the food was good..but our server was a rude type of person..we are very casual people. we dress in jeans when we go out to dinner $ 300 or $5 it's what we look and feel best in .. she was rude.. the food wasgooddid i mention that...

tasty. shared a ceasar which was a misrtake. sogoodwe ordered another. margareta pizza was solid. veal picata was top notch. service was slow to nonexistent - could have been staffing challenges. otherwise a great meal. will go back.

very verygoodcucina rustica!!. piatti in la jolla is very consistent great cucina rustica italian food. i've been eating on and off here for over 12 years and have always had a great meal. risotto is my favorite here!! excellent food!!!!

always great at piatti. i have been going to piatti since it first opened in la jolla....it has always been at the top of my list for where to go when i want to have great food, wonderful atmosphere,goodservice and just a fine night out.....whether it's a celebration or just a quiet night with a friend, i am always happy when i leave.....
thanks to the fine staff, i am always looked after....
go...you will really enjoy it...and try and dine on the patio...it's one of the loveliest spots in san diego......
