pgh taco truck

i ordered the chicken/bacon/cheddar/sriracha cream taco, which despite the truck’s ever-changing menu, is one of their consistent offerings. the tortillas were high quality and the combination of flavors was agoodone. it was a little heavy on the cheese, but really, can you complain about too much cheese? chicken

great food and definitely worth the wait.
when i found out pgh taco truck was going to be near my house from 5-9pm i immediately made plans to go. i arrived at 5:15 and the window had not yet opened. there was a line of about 10 people. the first taco wasn't served until about 5:35. i got my taco around 6:15. while waiting in line i was slightly annoyed at the long wait however the fantastic food was well worth the wait! i had the chorizo taco which was amazing. the spicy jerk chicken taco wasgoodbut a little too spicy for my liking. my favorite was the thai peanut chicken. definitely will be back for more!

i just happened to stumble across these guys on twitter...and i'm glad i did. they were doing a saturday afternoon stop with a mac and cheese truck...and i had a fantastic afternoon.

first, a little disclaimer. i'm giving them a 4.5 instead of 5 because i only got one taco. i hate to judge a place solely on one item, so when i go back again and try other items, i might change my rating.

from what i can tell, they have a menu that changes daily (i believe based on what items they have). i tried the simple/basic beef verde taco. it was fantastic. the flavor of the meat was unreal...really something i've never had before. i would have and could have eaten many, many more of those, and i'm sure the others were delicious as well. and, it appears they always have at least one vegetarian option, which is a great thing as well.

however, this brings me to my only complaint. all the tacos were $4 (the fish one was $5). i was hoping for that price, it would be a little larger than your normal street taco. it was not. i know it's a truck and they pay for local ingredients, but the price was a little high (go to mexico and get a local street taco...you could get the better part of a meal for $4).

thegoodnews...unlike most small restaurants in the pittsburgh area, they do take credit card here. so you can stock up on the tacos and not worry about carrying cash.

overall...definitely worth a trip. i'll be going back and trying more. i wish the prices were a little less, but i know that's not going to change. if it was cheaper, i'd chase them down several times a week...but even with the $4 price tag per taco, i'll still be back again and again.

i did go back again and enjoyed it just as much the 2nd time. got the spicy jerk chicken and pork chorizo tacos. both were delicious and spicy, which i loved.

i'm still leaving the rating at 4.5 solely because of the price...at least for now. the food is reallygoodand eventually, it may change my mind about the money side of things.

everything is always made with the best ingredients and the menu, while constantly changing, is always happenin'! favorites are jerk chicken with avocado cream and anytime i can get siracha sour cream is agoodthing.

tasty tacos, friendly service. caught up with ptt @ the pittsburgh market. verygoodtacos. the chorizo taco was fabulous. the jerk chicken with an avocado cream sauce was good. the chicken had a nice smokey flavor with some spice.

tasty tacos, friendly service. james performs well! you can tell he has a passion for his food and truck. verygoodtacos and when not busy very friendly and fun to talk to. he makes some interesting tacos. tried two, the chicken with avocado cream was tasty with some nice flavor but the steak with gauc, onion and fresh cilantro was even better. tender and tasty pieces of steak with some nice flavor from the gauc. and cilantro.

most of the tacos are $4 or $5 and you get a loaded taco, worth every penny. the menu changes. check out the facebook page to see what is on the menu and the location.

jerk chicken is awesome!. reallygoodtacos. they tend to have a lot of filling, and having 2 is a pretty decent lunch. depending on the location and time of day, there can be a line. i have only ever eaten at the truck while they have been at blumengarten in the strip district, and twice i have had to wait at least an hour for a taco, but the third time i only waited 10 minutes.

the owner, james, is a really nice guy, and he'll remember you if you come enough times.

ever since i saw this on his menu, it’s been haunting me – i love avocado. this voice kept saying “avocado cream, avocado cream – get it, now today, tomorrow.” your life is not complete until you have had the spicy jerk chicken with avocado cream. the chicken had a real nice smokey/spicy kick,goodenough for any spicy food person or one a bit scared by the word ‘spicy.’ the avocado cream paired well against this spice, i could have easily just eaten the chicken and cream by itself!

verygoodtaco. i finally got a chance to try the pgh taco truck when it was on perry highway. the angus ground beef cheddar taco was very good. can't wait to try one of the chicken tacos.

you might think 4-5 dollars for a taco is a little pricey, but trust me they really do usegoodingredients and the tacos are loaded to the brim.

hands down the best tacos in town! if there's a line wait its well worth it! very verygoodservice! best thing in town!
