perkins family restaurant

standard breakfast. yes, i know i said i don't like going to chain restaurants for breakfast. however, it was an early saturday morning and with mcdonald's being the other option, i decided to tryperkinssince we were in the area. it's definitely a busy place bc by the time we left, there was quite a line up.

i didn't realize how big their portions are or i wouldn't have ordered a kid's one for my toddler. there was enough food on my plate to share with him! my hubby had the eggs benedict whereas i got the tremendous twelve that i had trouble finishing. we also got the city slicker for my toddler. our food came out lightning fast, and taste-wise, very standard. service was good. prices were also quite average. not sure if i'd go back but most likely not for breakfast.

my girlfriend and i found ourselves in the area ofperkinsfamily restaurant and since i haven't been there in years, probably 2005, and my girlfriend has never been we decided why not check it out. the service was fast and very friendly, both the server and the front end hostess. we were attended to extremely quickly and were never left with empty glasses of pop, very prompt refill. the food was what you would expect from a family restaurant of this type, with myself having the tangler w/ fries and my girlfriend raving about her chicken strips melt. the server also recommended adding honey mustard to the sandwich, which was very well received by us. all in all it was a pleasant experience and if i find myself in the ne part of the city again and in need of a good stop for lunch, this will fit the bill.

looking for a quick little brekkie place before leaving calgary etown bound, didn't want anything fancy so we stopped some guy to give us any idea of what was close and a greasy spoon diner,perkinsit was. it wasn't too bad, reminded me of a denny's or ihop, but the fresh baked goods made the difference in comparison. we were also able to buy a couple loaves of marble rye (they order that from winnipeg) but still delicous none the less. service was good too

family and i had a great ,tasting meal tonight atperkinsbarlow, waitress kat was wonderful, great attentive service. we  had salmon, shrimp,chicken and more, will be back again soon

"gluten free menu" i don't think so!. my family went toperkinsfor easter brunch. i asked for a gluten free menu because my daughters and i are celiac. i ordered from the "gluten free" menu and was served a gluten meal, as well both my daughters. we spent the rest of the day in bed ill because they contaminated the food some how. when someone says they have an allergy then you should make the effort to ensure the proper procedures are followed. gluten free is not a life style choice it's an allergy and should be treated the same as any other allergy. i didn't appreciate losing a whole day sick because these people don't know what they are doing.

eating atperkinsin calgary. i, along with 6-10 friends and family have been going to your restaurant every friday for several years and last night was no exception. i have never been disappointed with my meal.., the service, the staff ,( bobby, the manager, etc.
i ordered the chicken pot pie and it was delicious! just want you to know that you all do an excellent job! hats off to you all!!!

waitress, waiters always helpful & cheerful, food great, been there for breakfast as well as the seniors dinner from 4 to 6, lots of good food and on going coffee by the pot. able to split meals without and body frowning at us.

worst food imaginable. my friends and i decided to tryperkinsfor a sunday out just for something different. we all decided on the turkey dinner. our server was a very nice lady who took our order and brought our drinks quickly. the wait for the food was long enough to finish 2 cups of coffee.
a different server brought the food to the table and of course had no clue who got which plate, and she literally threw 2 of them in place on top of the cutlery
i was very hungry, having missed lunch and was really looking forward to a decent meal...what i got was the worst restaurant meal i've ever had in my life!!! watery, tasteless "gravy", horrible turkey loaf, inedible stuffing and cold veggies from a frozen package. i couldn't bring myself to finish and neither could my companions
one of my companions was treating us and i left it up to her whether to pay for this abomination, which she did, unfortunately...i would have sent it back and only paid for the coffee.
do yourself a favour....run from this place. they will never see my butt in there again and that's for sure

good, family comfort food.perkinsspecializes in mainstream family dining comfort food - hot breakfasts (all day), chicken, pork chops, burgers, mashed potatoes, gravy and of course pies! nothing fancy, nothing complicated or very exotic - just stuff a lot of people would expect to eat at grandma's house.

the mashed potatoes were real (not from a powdered mix) but the gravies seemed "packaged". they were acceptable nonetheless.

most plates appeared bland and boring but were tasty and consumed with pleasure by most. the taco salad sported a freshly deep fried corn tortilla shell - nice touch!
my pot roast dinner didn't look that promising upon delivery, but the beef was marvelously tender and the gravy, albeit a packaged one, had been augmented with sauteed onions, which really added a nice flavor.

the eggs benedict was reported as only "so-so" and one of the burgers was considered "cheaply made" and a disappointment, considering the price.

we were looking forward to key lime pie we had enjoyed there years back, but it was no longer on the menu (awwwwww)...but the fruit and berry pies some ordered were reported as "excellent.". my banana cream pie was acceptable, but i would have preferred ifperkinshadn't drowned it in a chemically tasting chocolate "sauce".

another disappointment was last night's limited selection of pies - the peanut butter pie was off the market due to the recent peanut butter scare in the news (understandable), but they were also out of another staple - chocolate pie - so some of our fellow diners (not liking fruit pies) went without dessert.
