oh my goodness. i've been eating bbq for 32 years in 6 different states and i can easily say that you've never had bbq until you've eaten here. sliced brisket sandwich was insanity. it's a little expensive until you take your first bite. then you'll say "shut up and take my money." holy $#%!.

i don't eat red meat unless it's really good. the brisket here is as good as it gets anywhere. outstanding! the collard greens and mac and cheese were also great.

very good bbq. worth the wait? maybe.. standing in a line for 45 minutes for any food is extreme but for barbecue i figured i would give it a shot. besides, guy said it was worth it. better know what you want when it's your turn! once you order, then you wait some more. then you have to squeeze around and find a place to sit down.

was it worth it, did i enjoy the food after going through all that? yes. it was very good barbecue. i don't know if it was worth going through all that. but it was very good. the sauce is vinegar based and a little tangy so if you more of a tomato based sauce person this may not be your cup of tea. but overall, very good though i don't think i would wait that long again to get it.

the brisket at pecan lodge is absolutely worth the wait, but next time i'll try to get there a little earlier.

worth the wait if you have more then an hour for lunch. wait is 30 minute minimum at lunch. ribs literally fell off the bone although the flavor was slightly above average at best. perhaps smoked a little too long. the sausage was great. some of the best i have had in a while. recommend parking in the farmers market parking so you can walk through and pick up some fresh produce afterwards.

okay, so we gave into the hype and went there for lunch. we got there shortly after they opened at 11 am and the line was wayyy long. we waited for about 45 minutes to order but our good came out pretty quickly. i had the chopped beef sandwich with mac and cheese. holy cow...where to start. the bun was toasted and very dense. it needed to be a heavy duty bun bc the amount of chop brisket piled on top of it was alarming. the sauce on the sandwich was really smokey in its flavors and not the atypical sweet bbq sauce. the mac and cheese was heaven on earth. it had bits if chopped bacon on it. hubby had the three meat plate with sausage, brisket, and pulled pork. he.loved all three and noticed how the sausage was obviously homemade. i had some of his pulled pork and it was great. the meal itself was very expensive at almost $30 for 2 meals and 2 cans of soda, but we will go back next time we are in town.

good brisket, go early!. i stopped in for lunch looking to get a 3 meat plate to try their bbq. i was disappointed to find they were out of everything except brisket and fried chicken. i got the brisket plate with mac and cheese. the brisket was very flavorful, had a feeling it would be as i caught a whiff of smoke walking up to the building! not a lot of fat, great smoke just a little on the dry side but well seasoned. the mac and cheese is excellent with bacon and jalapeño mixed in for taste not heat. i couldn't decide if i liked the sauce or not, kind of run of the mill almost bottled sauce look and texture but a lingering taste i couldn't identify almost asian? i'd love to go back, i'll go early, it was 1pm on a thursday when they were out of everything!

wanted to "like it" - fell below expectations. i read about pecan lodge on the dallas observer and the d magazine, and really wanted to love and recommend this little hot spot. i ordered the wagyu brisket, pork ribs and burnt ends. the wagyu brisket was marbled beautifully, so it melted in your mouth. the pork ribs were really good too. some pieces of the burnt ends were smoky and delicious, other pieces were tough as a brick. there was a "regular" brisket on our plate that we didn't order that was tough and dry. i asked the owner about it, and he was uninterested in addressing the low quality product that was served. i'm very surprised in the way he dealt with the situation, and it will be very unlikely that we will return soon.

pecan lodge is known for bbq, but honestly, theses tumbleweeds are some of the best cookies i’ve ever had. honestly, i’m hesitant to use superlative claims, but pl’s tumbleweeds are in the running for a “best ever” title. it’s a peanut butter cookie with chocolate chips, coconut, pecans, and pretzels. the pretzels seal the deal, providing a nice crunchy salty con

good and bad. so, not your typical bbq place as it is "high class" if you want to put it that way.
the atmosphere is good but not your typically bbq style as it is in the dallas farmer's market (which is cool btw) and you should here just to check it out.
the brisket is top notch as others have said but the ribs were, almost bad. bad enough that i didn't finish mine.
i think they are so bad due to the weird sauce applied near the end of the smoking process...it tasted like plastic and was just weird...

yet, all that being said, the customer service is good but the prices are a little high so watch out.

also, you should check out the "hot mess." it's a locally grown sweet potato cooked and mixed to perfection...it is big enough to be a meal in itself.

so, gave this place a thumbs down but if they can fix the ribs we'll go back.

p.s., the mac and cheese is made with chilies and bacon...unreal.

you'd think a bbq joint named pecan lodge smokes with pecan wood. nope. okay, so they serve pecans in some form? no to that too. owner and pitmaster justin fourton named it after a ranch that was in his family long ago, and he insists on using mesquite in
