the apple crumble had such a lovely crisp covering sweet stewed cinnamon-y apples underneath and the ricotta tart was so creamy, soft and fluffy at the same time. if any of you are ever in the haberfield area, i definitely encourage you all to pay a visit to pasticceriapapaand try out their delicacies over a hot cup of coffee!

dear owner, the restaurant pasticceriapapaat haberfield.
my friends and i went to the restaurant on sunday 23 sept for our ceremony. we were so upset the way your services at our table. the man, which has tattoo on his neck to serve us so badly. he treated us like take away restaurant, he wanted to kicked out of restaurant. when my friends were eating on dishes he came and take our dish’s foods without asking 😕. more over, after we had three meals, our places were dirty then i asked for the new places for next meals. he just came over and passed my friends to take her place without asking. after that, he throw the new places on the table and made noise to make us pay attention on him without respect 😕.
please training your staffs more professional. we came to your restaurant is not only enjoying foods and your service too.

papa has been on my bookmark/wishlist for a ridiculously long time. the display cabinet extends the length of the shop and is filled with golden pastries, sliced cakes, biscuits and tarts.papaoffers both a formal dining area with an a la carte menu as well as a more relaxed cafe with the aforementioned desserts and a smaller selection of savoury dishes like pizzas, panini sandwiches, veggie bakes and lasagne.
i ordered the mediterranean panini ($10) and my bf had 2 slices of pizza ($5.50 each).
the panini was toasted and filled with marinated bell peppers and eggplant, feta cheese, tomato, lettuce, artichoke and garlic buttered bread which was delicious. they had a similar sandwich that also had chicken and deli meats as well. following our meals, we chose 2 sweets: one was a choux puff pastry filled with custard creme and soaked with a strawberry liquor ($3.50) and the other was a ricotta cake ($4.00). the pastry on the first one was a tad dry without the filling, didn't have much of a strawberry flavour and was too sweet for me. the ricotta cake on the other hand was great and had a really nice mouthfeel. the outside crust was a sweet short buttery pastry filled with a ricotta cheesecake consistency. this one was quite popular with the locals as it sold out quite fast. one thing i will say is, none of the desserts/food items are labelled or priced which is quite difficult if its your first time. so essentially you are buying purely on the visual aspect of the food. the lady who served me was super friendly, but i have heard complaints about the service here. it can get disorganised when busy.

like many others, papafirst got my attention with their lovely baked ricotta cheesecake (no other baked ricotta cheesecake will compare). to no surprise, i became a regular customer at both of papa's branches in spite of the 45 minute drive. i needed no occasion to buy their delicious cakes - i was always craving them every week. although i will say that i barely ever bought their biscotti, cannoli, gelato etc. as they were quite mediocre compared to other places.

however, for the past few months i have stopped coming topapaaltogether. it was only a matter of time before i decided that the appalling customer service would finally push me away from my go-to pasticceria. staff were always rude to me (a lot of sighing, no eye contact whatsoever, and sometimes speak in italian thinking i wouldn't understand at all). often, i would ask for a slice of a cake that i wanted to try. however, more recently they have given me lazy excuses me like "it's 4pm - we're closing soon maybe you should have come at 12". yet, when i come at 12 to ask for a slice they say "sorry, we have no more of that cake left" in spite of it being right in front of me. it's a shame that this level of customer service is pushing a lot of customers away - something that most australians deem crucial in any restaurant/cafe. hoping thatpapacan fix this soon, otherwise ti mancherò bene.

in sydney, you can spend $65 for four fragile and sophisticated-looking desserts. unfortunately, we are not talking about that for this week. instead, we will be talking about one of the best italian desserts place in sydney… and most of their cakes are around $5 or less.  how good is that!. for those of you living in inner west, the name pasticceriapapawill not sound too foreign for you. their shop in haberfield has been around since 1988. they started off as a bread and pastry shop. now, they have a full-fledged restaurant in addition to the shop.

"papa knows best" is the motto and he isn't wrong. to this day i've never had cakes or anything that comes remotely close to the taste, texture and quality ofpapaand the infamous ricotta cake.
tonight we came for s delicious sospiro and some coffees... definitely the best cakes in sydney - possibly australia!

for someone who loves cheese to the point of a gallbladder removal (true story), i’ve always been a bit touch and go on cheesecakes. light, airy, lemony cheesecakes are good, dense, dry, baked cheesecakes, not so much. but there has been so much hoo ha about the baked ricotta cheesecakes from pasticceriapapathat i had to give it a go. maybe i’d been eating it wrong this whole time.

famous for their baked ricotta cheesecake which is lovely, but the base of the cheesecake often thin and stodgy, not the best. i have been coming here for over 10 years, and their ricotta cannoli is good, and comes in small and large size, but a recently opened italian bakery 50mtrs down the road have just as good cannoli, and cheaper. all the cakes look delicious, i have only ever had the above mentioned, their sliced pizza's, gelato, coffee, and many of there selection of biscuits, which are italian in style, so are very hard to bite into and often taste like cardboard, and only good to look at. if you want fine tasty sweet morsels, best to scout out a french patisserie . also i wouldn't buy the bread if you have any allergies or sensitivities, as twice (giving it a second chance) i have gotten sick with very bloated tummy after digesting the bread. instead i recommend the typical italian bakery opposite, next to the iga, that has amazing bread. overall, papapasticceria is good to check out for their cakes and all things italian in sweet offerings, especially at easter and christmas. it is also a good place to meet up with friends or family for a coffee and a chat. by the way, the do make the best iced coffee i have ever had in sydney, which is a challenge to find these days.

it feels like ages since i had brunch sydney and quite frankly it felt good to not be travelling anywhere for a change. all this travelling for the both of us has made us exhausted and that we actually got to sleep in for the first time in a month! since we woke up a little later than usual, we decided it was time for a change of scenery so we headed locally to summer hill in search for another cafe :wow: plunge no 46 surrounds it self with wooden style art deco furniture with simple white walls and mini props. they have fantastic seating arrangements which is very spacious arrangements if you enjoy eating outside in the sun. their menu is very different as it has a european flare which makes things interesting as there isn’t much to choose from within the street / summer hill itself. so if you want to go somewhere different for a change, pop around and try something new and simple with a great vibe. zucchini & fetta fritters with tomato salad and a yoghurt base sauce – i actually hate zucchini but i decided to be daring in ordering it in hoping it would change my mind and it did  outside is golden and crunchy where zucchini meets korean fried chicken batter #fckingdelicious #hotnspicykfc. it was quite big i couldn’t even eat half of it so if you have a small appetite like me you can go halfies and share the fried goodness around. roast lamb salad – absolutely delicious, i love a good tasty protein salad. if i had a choice i would totally swap my fritters for this but only because this salad is packed with flavour and has a lot elements to it! berry frappe - plunge no. 46 offers a variey of beverages, this happens to be one of them treat @ pasticceriapapaif you’re in summer hill, why not kill two birds with one stone and head over the other side of parramatta road to pasticceriapapa(known as papa’s) for some awesome baked ricotta cheesecake. plunge no 46 a: 46 lackey st, summer hill nsw w:  plunge46.com.au pasticceriapapaa:  145 ramsey street, haberfield nsw w
