like many others, papa first got my attention with their lovely baked ricotta cheesecake (no other baked ricotta cheesecake will compare). to no surprise, i became a regular customer at both of papa's branches in spite of the 45 minute drive. i needed no occasion to buy their delicious cakes - i was always craving them every week. although i will say that i barely ever bought their biscotti, cannoli, gelato etc. as they were quite mediocre compared to other places.
however, for the past few months i have stopped coming to papa altogether. it was only a matter of time before i decided that the appalling customer service would finally push me away from my go-to pasticceria. staff were always rude to me (a lot of sighing, no eye contact whatsoever, and sometimes speak in italian thinking i wouldn't understand at all). often, i would ask for a slice of a cake that i wanted to try. however, more recently they have given me lazy excuses me like "it's 4pm - we're closing soon maybe you should have come at 12". yet, when i come at 12 to ask for a slice they say "sorry, we have no more of that cake left" in spite of it being right in front of me. it's a shame that this level of customer service is pushing a lot of customers away - something that most australians deem crucial in any restaurant/cafe. hoping that papa can fix this soon, otherwise ti mancherò bene.
