what happened to parisi. wow!!! parisi is dead. it has been replaced by mediocre food, and stark impersonal decor. the amazing oliva sandwich is gone, the pizza is like chain pizza with the fantastic unique toppings gone. the gnocchi was ok, but not fresh as in the past. big big disappointment. this used to be the bestrestaurantin denver, now... no real reason to go back.

what happened???. my husband and i had our first date at parisi, and the past few years we dined here for nearly every birthday, anniversary, promotion, holiday, "date night", or any other time we felt like having a reliably fantastic meal. a few times, we tried the basementrestaurantfirenze a tavola, but preferred the ambiance, and menu of parisi. thisrestaurantbecame very sentimental to us, and we will always have great memories over too many carafes of wine. tragically, that's all we can chalk parisi up to now...great memories. the name of therestaurantshould have been changed with the remodel, because this is not parisi. i don’t know what this is, but parisi died along with the beautiful, rustic, romantic ambiance. the decor is now stark, cold, and void of any original, or remotely unique character. the odd layout almost feels like a cafeteria, and i felt like we were actually eating our dinner with the family in the next booth. i’m a fan of the new bar area, and can understand the choice to minimize the market feel, but this now resembles a generic chainrestaurantat best. my husband had the prosciutto, ruccola e parm, and it was basically a salad thrown on top of an obviously pre-made cheese pizza. they do offer an actual pizza salad, but that’s not what this was supposed to be. it was awful. i had the tagliatelle al funghi, and it was pretty good despite swallowing something slimy, and not discernible as any of the listed ingredients. unfortunately though, i can find a decent pasta dish closer to home. we always made a point to make the drive to parisi, because of the overall experience. that experience is gone, and a decent pasta dish is not enough of an incentive to return. in my opinion the remodel, and new menu was a huge mistake.

parisi, the best and inexpensive, too. i spent several years living and eating in italy. hmm. italian food is the best in europe, and parisi's is the best italianrestaurantfor the prices they ask you to pay in the denver area. by the way, eat upstairs, not down. you are charged more for the snazzery and the elegancia downstairs and the menu is nearly identical to the much cheaper one upstairs.

yum. this has been a favorite since it started out at 44th and lowell.
now even more packed, they have done a good job at transitioning to full service restaurant.
everything is good. everything is authentic.

if eating at their down stairsrestaurantbe prepared for loud. and expensive. a wonderful place for a special occasion, but maybe too pricey for dining out during the week.
