what happened???. my husband and i had our first date at parisi, and the past few years we dined here for nearly every birthday, anniversary, promotion, holiday, "date night", or any other time we felt like having a reliably fantastic meal. a few times, we tried the basement restaurant firenze a tavola, but preferred the ambiance, and menu of parisi. this restaurant became very sentimental to us, and we will always have great memories over too many carafes of wine. tragically, that's all we can chalk parisi up to now...great memories. the name of the restaurant should have been changed with the remodel, because this is not parisi. i don’t know what this is, but parisi died along with the beautiful, rustic, romantic ambiance. the decor is now stark, cold, and void of any original, or remotely unique character. the odd layout almost feels like a cafeteria, and i felt like we were actually eating our dinner with the family in the next booth. i’m a fan of the new bar area, and can understand the choice to minimize the market feel, but this now resembles a generic chain restaurant at best. my husband had the prosciutto, ruccola e parm, and it was basically a salad thrown on top of an obviously pre-made cheese pizza. they do offer an actual pizza salad, but that’s not what this was supposed to be. it was awful. i had the tagliatelle al funghi, and it was pretty good despite swallowing something slimy, and not discernible as any of the listed ingredients. unfortunately though, i can find a decent pasta dish closer to home. we always made a point to make the drive to parisi, because of the overall experience. that experience is gone, and a decent pasta dish is not enough of an incentive to return. in my opinion the remodel, and new menu was a huge mistake.
