pano's on elmwood

good management, good value. i've been going topano'ssince before they redid it, and they redid it beautifully. this is the most reliable restaurant in buffalo, with a great kitchen and hands-on management. even on the rare occasions that there's a problem, they handle it correctly. on my last visit, the beef skewers and rice were ice cold. not only did the manager appear almost instantly, he replaced the dish with a hot one and still took it off my bill. can't ask for more! i also love that no matter how adventurous a dish on the specials menu might seem, the kitchen always pulls it off with flair, and at a great price..

the last time i went topano'sit felt more like going to an old house, where a sun room had been turned into a seating area. over the last year, they have made some major improvements to the building. the inside has completely been revamped, new walls/bo

ok but.... i've eaten atpano'sfor over 20 years - one might say i'm a "regular". the food is interesting and good but the prices continue to creep up and up, to the point that i now question the value. combine the increased cost with the fact thatpano'sis now jammed packed (especially at the bar, where i like to eat), i now find myself increasingly disappointed.

pano may consider himself successful and his restaurant popular but i think he runs a serious risk of becoming a passe destination on elmwood. i know that i'm seriously reconsidering y "regular" status there. it just ain't that much fun anymore.

good for a late night burger..pano'sis basic and standard. if you are shut out of other elmwood choices because it is after 9 or 10 pm, thenpano'sis a good spot to grab a burger. otherwise, most of their menu items are good but not in the excellent zone. they only have beer and fortified wine drinks--not a full bar.

the chicken souvlaki. you think i'd be adventurous and order something else, but no. this dish is so good i can't pass it up. so while i was home over the holiday's it was the usual. and althoughpano'sdid some demo and is unrecognizable compared to my memories of sunday's brunch in college, the food is still great. yum-o.

great food, hit or miss service. been topano'stwice. both times with my girlfriend. first time we had a great server. white guy, short dark brown hair, idk just trying to give credit where credit is due. dont remember his name, but he was friendly, professional, and he received generous gratuity because of it. second time we had a girl who seemed cold and not happy to be there. she didnt even smile once! that's rule one of being a server! smile!!!!! we look forward to eating there, so at least pretend like you're happy to have us. either way, the food is always good and very affordable.

i came to buffalo for the day to visit some art museums. at 5 i walked the strip on elmwood and pondered where i should eat.pano'sseemed warm and welcoming, with affordable prices. being solo, i sat at the bar an was welcomed by the bartender john. i have a vegetarian diet so i asked to discuss my options. he spoke knowledgably and confidently on my meal choices as well as the drink selection, and told me that he was a vegan and shared my values in food. i had the falafel sandwich which was delicious, although the tahini sauce was slightly sticky. i had a soju berry mojo specialty drink which was very tasty, and a lovely organic cabernet after that(suggested by the bartender) for only 6 dollars. after dinner i enjoyed a local brew and felt very well taken care of and happy with my experience at the bar.

pano's,yesterday,today & tomorrow. i have been going topano'sfor about 35 years,,both here & down the street where the firstpano'swas. i love the new surroundings;wish there was more parking but there'll never be enough for all the people that frequent pano's. the waitstaff are very well trained & very helpful. i have tried almost everything onpano'smenu but my favorite is paella. very fresh & generous amounts of seafood,chicken,sausage & saffrom rice. just the right amount of spice everything is of really high quality.

surprisingly bad service. we are loyal customers that have been topano'son many occasions and have had great experiences every time. this however was an odd day. the service today was sub-par. when our server tina brought us our check my girlfriend was only half way through her meal and she just put it on the table without even asking us if we wanted anything else. she didn't seem to be on top of things today.

great balance. we had dinner atpano'sa few weeks ago. i think it's awesome you can sit outside (although we didn't), i love sitting on a restaurants patio in the summertime. i learned, after reading some reviews, that you can order breakfast all day long, so that's what i did. for a very reasonable price i got 2 sirloin steaks, 2 eggs, hash browns, and french toast (damn lot of food!). my wife ordered the gyro souvlaki.

the food tasted great, though i've had better steaks (but for the money, who can compete?). the greek salad that accompanied the souvlaki was delicious, with the right blend of vegetables and feta. the place is beautiful (quite the turnaround from the old days - i've heard), i definitely would go back again!

highly recommended if you want an affordable, delicious bite to eat, while being in a casual and friendly, yet visually appealing, environment.

enjoyable breakfast spot. although i have been topano'sseveral times over the years for both lunch and dinner; i had never dined there for breakfast until this past weekend. i was pleasently surprised by their creative offerings for breakfast. under the specials section, there was a stuffed cinnamon raisin french toast, a bagel with cream cheese, smoked salmon and all of the accompaniaments and a sundried tomato omelet for example. i enjoyed a large, fresh belgium waffle with plenty of freshly sliced strawberries on top while my husband enjoyed the bagel with smoked salmon that also had plenty of capers and red onion on the plate. my son enjoyed a wonderful kids breakfast for less than $3 that included a pancake, an egg and bacon. breakfast spots in my opinion can often lack in the cleanliness department or in the creative menu department;pano'slacks in neither of those areas and in fact is extremely successful in both. i cannot wait to have the opportunity to go back for breakfast.

average restaurant. don't get me wrong, the food atpano'sis fine. you won't be disappointed. but it's just a perfectly average restaurant that people, for some reason, rave about.

adequate. don't get me wrong, the food atpano'sis fine. you won't be disappointed. their new decor is stylish, too. but it's just a perfectly average restaurant that people, for some reason, rave about. i gave it a "don't like" not so much because i don't like it as that it doesn't impress me. their food is no better or worse than your average greek diner, they just happened to be in an up and coming part of town with a large college nearby. they're not even open 24 hours anymore.

my advice: if you're near buff state and want some chicken souvlaki, go to pano's. if you're closer to towne, go there instead. do not go out of your way to go to pano's. it's just a nicely decorated greek diner.

casual, upscale, delicious..pano'sis quite the unique restaurant because of its proximity to the campus of buff st.

it is open all but 6 hours a day. opens 7a for breakfast after a long night of drinking or closes 1a for a bite to eat before/during/after drinking.

or rather a nice place to grab a bite to eat whenever it strikes your fancy.

the kobe beef burger is wonderful. the lamb chops were fantastic. highly recommended.
