we went for big taste 2016 and it was exquisite! big taste is the best time to get a good feel of what the restaurant offers and we got to try the dates, roasted carrots, patatas bravas, grilled hanger steak, butter lettuce salad, cured ham, cod and potato croquettes and the chocolate tarte. the food was all rich and delicious and we all left feeling very satisfied. it is all tapas so keep that in mind for amount of food and price.

been here about 8 times over 2 years. love their tapas. always fresh and full of flavour. sometimes service is better than others. i'd say that there were 2-3 visits where the waiter/waitress could have done a better job. food 5/5...service 3.5/5

wonderful food, a great place to go on a date night as its all sharing plates. very loud if you go at peak times though, making it hard to hear what your date is saying. highly recommend!

cocktail are average at best. food is not up to what it used to be. a huge let down with uninformed staff. like going to earls. too commercial no personality.

one restaurant i could not miss was ox and angela on our calgary trip. it was a few block away from our hotel and we love spanish food. i really wish we had more spanish restaurants in vancouver. m and i came on a weekday dinner around 6:30 pm to give their spanish dishes a try. the interior is nice and there are 2 dining areas. they serve a spanish table set menu with 10 dishes that are shared family style for $45 per person. m and i were tempted to get it but we heard so much about the paella that we went to go without the set menu.

we came to ox and angela for a week day dinner during our calgary vacation. we got the paella, zfc and mediterranean salad. all the dishes were delicious. i would come back again on my next trip.

this review is a bit late on the game, but i can always recommend a good place to eat regardless of the season! on one sunny afternoon in calgary, our friend had some mixed news(she was moving away, but for an awesome new job opportunity!) so it called for some good old fashioned day drinking(is that old fashioned? who knows :d)

we found ourselves running through the rain again like last week for ikemen.  this time we found ourselves at ox and angela.  we came here a couple of years back and were considering it for abc’s of yyc, but we were too busy.  luckily, john had a huge random craving for tapas today and we both had this place on our minds.

i wanted to try his place for a while and finally had the chance to, but it was extremely disappointing. the potatoes were mushy and covered in what tasted like ketchup. the only thing they had going for them during my visit was the tuna. most likely won't be back.

my experience started with a bang. i was promptly seated on the patio and got my cocktail quickly. my waitress was pleasant and informed me that one of the dishes i ordered was her fave on the menu.

i had the dates and the butter lettuce salad. got my items quickly and they were presented beautifully. the dates were amazing but the butter lettuce salad was a bit bland and vinegary. needs to be balanced out with something.

my waitress checked on me after my first few bites, but after that it went downhill. i finished my meal and waited about ten minutes for someone to clear the plates off my table and ask if i wanted anything else. when i said i was ready for the bill she took my plates and i'm still waiting for her to return. i've since logged into yelp and i'm still waiting for my bill. it's been 20 minutes....

enjoyed a nice meal with my wife recently on the patio. the tapas we're particularly good and the paella was nice. good wine list and our waitress was especially helpful. ambiance was busy but relaxed - i'll be back.

i've tried ox & angela twice, and the first visit was less than impressive but i gave it a second visit and was pleasantly surprised.

we ordered lots of small dishes to share. everything was sooo good! i recommend the baked goat cheese if you love cheese like me, it's delicious.

the paella takes 20min to cook so if you know that's what you want, i would order it as soon as possible. the paella was what i tried both the first and second time, and i did not enjoy how salty it was the first time. i asked them to put in no salt at all on my second visit, and it came out still a little saltier than a normal dish. perhaps it's because of all the seafood inside the dish? i have no idea.

anyway, other than the paella, everything else is great here, including the sangria. definitely a must if you are on 17th and looking for a good meal. i gave it a 4.0 because the restaurant feels kind of cramped and is extremely loud. not a good place for an intimate date for sure. also, make resos! the place is usually pretty booked.
