friendly service. food portions were small, but i guess that's the point of tapas. and super salty, which isn't a bad thing for me. it'sgoodif you go with a bunch of people so you can order more.

on his birthday, i took my husband out for dinner at ox and angela. if you go there, do yourself a favour and get the ‘spanish table’ meal. you won’t regret it (and you won’t have to look like a fool not knowing what you have ordered, since most of the items on the menus are tapas). unfortunately, i do not have pictures to back it up – the food was great, the ambiance was perfect, and we were having a great time, so there was really no time to think about taking pictures. now, a few words about the spanish table ($45/person): what you’ll get is various rounds of tapas. if you have not had tapas before, then this is what you should know: they are small bites. really small. the type of food you eat in one (maximum two, if you are into savouring your food) bite. now, i know this may sound problematic to some. stay open-minded and remember that agoodmeal is one where you enjoyed the food without stuffing yourself – there should always be room for a few more bites. in my case, i can say w

tonight. my friend and i stumbled into ox & angela after unsuccessful pursuits of other restaurants on a saturday night (all booked up). i'd wanted to come in here for a while, and i'm glad we came into ox & angela tonight!

our server was excellent; he continuously refilled our waters, had agoodeye, and was very accomodating.

the food was great. i ordered esparragos (sp), $7 almonds , and the angela (cocktail). it was all delicious. the cocktail was fairly strong, and i think that added to our experience at ox & angela. the $7 for a handful of almonds was a bit excessively priced for the amount served...

all in all, my friend and i had a fine time here, and we will be back!

i got carried away here. between four of us our bill was around $300. we did drink wine and a lot of estrella. the food was reallygoodand the service was average. our waiter seemed to be struggling with the number of tables he was serving (it was busy). the scallops and fritters were definite standouts. i'll go back when i'm not intending to have a large meal.

classy place, great ambience and service and food taste and presentation was fabulous. we stuck to the tapas and the appetizers and all were good. especiallygoodwere the grilled albacore tuna, patatas bravas (fried baby potatoes) and the filete a la parila (grilled steak with anchovies) but not a single bad dish. a must visit.

our waiter was nice but very scattered. was the only server during a rather busy lunch so i thought i'd cut him some slack. food wasgoodbut not stellar. my patience finally ran out when it took 15 minutes to pay. won't go back.

super cute little place with a unique menu! went there with my boyfriend and we tried many small dishes. full of flavour and their portions were just right. friendly staff andgoodfood!

came here as it was highly recommended and it was big taste calgary.  i honestly gave it an optimistic approach and here's my findings:

location had difficult parking (it is 17th, so not a huge surprise here). 

resos for 8:30 had us waiting for close to 20 minutes by a drafty door.  they had a server bring us a round of prosecco which was nice, and having to wait is agoodproblem for this place, as it means they were busy, and had a lot of people enjoying.  not a negative point in this writeup.

we were seated and there was five of us total.  4/5 got the big taste at $35/pp.  the 5th person ordered from the regular menu three items (but did not look at the big taste menu).  

when our food came, the 4 of us dove into a small portion of each course, and it was demolished quickly.  each course was simply tiny, maybe it was just the way tapas are meant to be?  small portions, shared, long delivery time in between courses means you get full faster?

the fifth person who ordered full items got an order of the steak (7oz), and an order of the potatoes of which we dove into with her to share.  now keep this in mind, one order of steak for one person was about $15 or something.  potatoes, a full plate, also about $15.  

to our surprise, those same items were on our big taste menu.  and between the four of us whom all ordered the big taste, a duplicate of one steak plate and one potato plate came out.  we had agoodlaugh at the fact the the 5th person ordered the same items, and then reality set in. 

if each of us was paying $35 and they brought us one steak and one potato to split between four people, the portions are clearly wrong and therefore gouging us who were duped into trying the big taste menu.  didn't leave very happy with the experience overall.

the sampler plates were literally just a small bite for everyone, of which, we were better off ordering off the menu.  this wasn't agoodshowcase of the hype we were geared for here.  

maybe we should have just had two of us do the big taste menu, as clearly the portions wouldn't have been really effected?

what a great evening! our dinner club met here and had a blast. greeted and seated we were well looked after for three hours. we made life easy on ourselves and ordered the spanish table and jugs of red and white sangria. the food arrived at well paced intervals. it was fantastic. each dish became our new favourite. 👍 the sangria was verygoodtoo, less sweet than some, allowing the fruit and wine to shine. dangerous. tapas and sangria is an excellent way to enjoy the company of friends. gracias team ox & angela.

the food itself tastes pretty good, but small portions for the price.goodplace for just a casual tapas and drinks kind of night rather than a dinner date.

lots of mini choices, which i love because i need to try everything. i'm so afraid of committing to one item so this works perfect for people like me. food wasgoodas well as service and the atmosphere is great. just didnt care for vegi paella

food was fantastic but it ends there.
waiter didn't want to be there. very short and bothered when anyone in the group asked for something. with a group of 8 you are unable to pick off the menu and forced to only have the spanish table dish. portions are very small for any adult. let's be honest our daughter would leave hungry. all this for $45 a person, way overpriced to be forced to take what they give you. the service was horrible and your obligated to pay 18% gratuity. which i understand is standard in many places with groups. i've never liked this as my tip is based in service. great service gets a bigger tip. last, you are unable to get your own separate bill. they will not split a bill, it says right on the menu. they will split payments off the bill butgoodluck with that! we will never go back and i'm left wondering why anyone would😔

went here for the first time for brunch with friends - this place did not disappoint. we ordered the breakfast tapas for 4 people - each dish was amazinglygoodand we were definitely stuffed and satisfied by the last dish. i would come back here again. also lovely and friendly service from staff. the only thing is that it can be a bit too loud making conversations a bit difficult - probably nothing they could really do about that, there was just a lot of people when we went there.

we went for big taste 2016 and it was exquisite! big taste is the best time to get agoodfeel of what the restaurant offers and we got to try the dates, roasted carrots, patatas bravas, grilled hanger steak, butter lettuce salad, cured ham, cod and potato croquettes and the chocolate tarte. the food was all rich and delicious and we all left feeling very satisfied. it is all tapas so keep that in mind for amount of food and price.

this review is a bit late on the game, but i can always recommend agoodplace to eat regardless of the season! on one sunny afternoon in calgary, our friend had some mixed news(she was moving away, but for an awesome new job opportunity!) so it called for somegoodold fashioned day drinking(is that old fashioned? who knows :d)
