outrage of modesty

the whole concept of oom is something i have never experienced. it's quite intimidating at first but the pay off allows you to finally click as to why they call it "mixology."

this is no bar, it'scocktailscience and experimentation- something i really wouldn't mind observing one day. 

there are no waiter suggestions, no explanations - just your own mind making the decision and your palate acting as judge. i really enjoyed my miso sorbet concoction with caramelised glass-like sugar and sesame seeds.

it's a great way to start a night out or before a dinner.

love thiscocktailbar, a place where you can chat, enjoy the music, relax and enjoy delicious cocktails and if alone, can sit at the bar and enjoy watching the mixologists create their masterpieces

don't expect to arrive to a vibe... this bar is a bit different. hip but quiet.

they do 'specialty' drinks, some of which are really delicious (i recommend the pea and flowercocktailas a first choice and personal best - as well as the 'hot and cold' if you enjoy sweet things) each of which are r100. so it's a bit on the steep side as far as pricing per glass on the regular but definitely something you should try at least once. my recommendation would be that you sit at the bar because the interaction and having the drinks created in front of you really adds to the experience.

must go. fine dining for cocktails. it was an unreal experience with all the smoke and steam and foam and decadence all packed into a cocktail. i had the salty dog which was delicious. however r90 for a few sips ofcocktaildoes seem a bit steep. but great experience from the hole in the wall none the less. definitely an exciting place to go.

oh my wow! brilliant! i love trying something different and one needs to look no further than this place. so much thought has gone into their cocktails and their food. food and drinks are priced on the higher end, but well worth every cent. divine! the bathroom is a little freaky, just don't look up. but seriously everything has been clearly been thought out and just adds to the vibe of the place. looking forward to anothercocktailsoon, hopefully.

my first speak easy experience and not even in nyc!! lank secretive, so you will have to take a guess where this place is. just make a booking first, or rock up at 6pm for a quickcocktailand stay only for an hour. i honestly heard angels sing, with the first bite of that mushroom dish, and again the sounds of a heavenly choir during every sip of the hot and sweet cocktail. its next level. the pineapple sagecocktailis however a total let down and tastes waaaaay too ordinary for this exceptional location. would def recommend, but not for a long night out.

the most unusual and mysterious place i have ever experienced. excellent service and decor. it is small and intimate. perfect for a girls night out. thecocktailbar is expensive however it's all worth the experience. i wish they would have more food options. outrage of modesty is definitely one to try out!

what a dining experience. this bar is unlike any other. thecocktailmenu features no ingredients and only informs you of the flavours you will experience when tasting their cocktails. we decided to have thecocktailtasting which includes a food pairing off their snack menu. we would definitely recommend making this place a top priority on your list of go to food places, especially if you're looking to try something new or impress someone with an awesome night out! the service was wonderful and we could see the knowledge, care and love each person working their has for what they are doing.

they don't have a menu as the food and cocktails change seasonally but all the cocktails are between r60-r90 and the snacks are between r25-r50. pop in for a quick drink before a meal or make a night of their tasting menu but don't forget to book as the bar only seats around 24 people.

we can't wait to go back again!

a super interesting experience!

short of the rather silly introduction on the street-side, it's a fantastic concept. a completelycocktailexclusive space. it's not something we are familiar with, but quite exciting to try.

the drinks are massively complicated. perhaps a little lost on me... guess i'm more of a food and wine guy.

can appreciate the effort though.

it's great to see that the craft of bartending and fine drinking is being elevated to this level in cape town. the drinks are definitely an experience. thecocktailmenu focuses on flavours rather than brands which makes for interesting selection. it's not gonna be a regular spot but everyone needs to try it out at least once.
