absolutely fantastic food. people gripe about the line & ordering at the counter but it is worth it. get the spicedshrimpbasket (best in daytona) or the fried fish sandwich. great jalapeño poppers & their hush puppies are fantastic. also great oysters & crab legs.

spotlight is on fresh. after spying this place on google earth, an aquaintance suggested it. we popped in our first night in town. we saw a long line and quickly found out you order and pay first, but get full service at the bar. the bar was for us and we had great service.

we shared fried flounder andshrimpdinner. coated with a light cornmeal coating, it was fried to a perfect crunch. it came piled high on a bed of crinkle fries for us, but you order your sides. the emphsis is on the freshness of the seafood, so spices are kept in the dipping sauces. i would ask for some extra horseradish for a little extra kick.

we thought since we had such a good meal on our way into town, it would be a good choice for lunch on our way out. we were right. i was lucky enough to catch the lunch special, a blackened mahi sandwich with grilled onions, peppers and provolone.....mmmm. fresh, fresh and delish!

the only thing i would caution visitors about, for this place and all over the beach...the water contains a lot of sulphur and it flavors the ice and subsequently any drinks over ice. bring your own or hold the ice.

not happy with the setting. i didn't like the setting of this restaurant. after waiting one hour in line (standing up) to order our food and paying for it up front, you have to find yourself a seat, after another half hour your food arrives, we ordered fried fish and shrimp, the fish was tasteless, the breading had no seasoning, no salt, didn't taste like fish, shrimpdidn't taste like shrimp. key lime pie...publix makes it better. fries were good. coke was good. the view was nice, but not worth $47 and a wait time of 1 1/2 to eat tasteless fish. atmosphere was nice, but i don't go to restaurants for the atmosphere only, i go to eat. never going back! what a waste of my time and money.

hubby is obsessed with raw clams on the half shell. this craving harkens back to his nyc upbringing where he was known to indulge in eating 2-4 dozen on his own, heaped with cocktail sauce, horse radish and lemon juice. as a matter of fact it was hubby that introduced me to raw clams, something i’d never had any desire to try. well he got me hooked as well and i especially like when he prepares my clams just so to make sure they’re dressed correctly. our hotel concierge recommended our deck down under and we’re so happy he did.

we ordered two dozen littleneck clams on the half shell and slurped them up in no time. i followed that up with a salad topped with grilled tilapia, and hubby got ashrimppo boy. the weather was brilliant and we enjoyed sitting on the open deck – a most pleasant experience. our deck down under is a terrific casual place that families will enjoy. we sure did!

it was the perfect way to celebrate our big day and we were so enchanted by all that daytona beach has to offer that we will be returning later this year and bringing some friends with us.....the more the jollier!

the conch fritters were mostly bread, theshrimphad no flavor, and the bloody mary tasted like watered down cocktail sauce.  the only good thing about it was the cold beer and the atmosphere.

shame. because you got bad shrimp. that means you should make your customers pay for it. i tried for 30 mins. pinching piece by piece of peel. waiting for someone to come check on how i was doing, i start to get up and someone finely comes by. i ask for a reorder. i didn't recall whether it was a pound or 1/2 at this point. so, think that it looked like a good porch-en, i said a pound. another lady returns with my order and proceeds to give me (born in daytona, caught a few myself) excuse on how it wasn't their fault theshrimpwasn't peeling and if these also didn't peel she would get me something else. remember, the speech i just got, for asking for reorder. another minute later she returns to tell me that i had only ordered a 1/2. i told her she could have her shrimp, at this point still having problems peeling them. she responds with"no i don't want theshrimpback, i'm just letting you know" so, getting an extra 1/2 pd ofshrimpthat i cant peel makes it all better. i fought through a couple more only to be left with ashrimppeel stuck in my throat. i ate a couple of crackers finishes my drink and hacked all the way home and a hour later. should have just left theshrimpsitting there. can't see fighting with them anymore as i still have this peel stuck i my throat!

never again. my wife ordered the fried shrimp.shrimphad no flavor to them and they looked like they had been flattened with a hammer. only 1/8" thick. never seenshrimpserved like that before.

my fried fish also had no flavor.

i should have asked the waiter for the manager but we never saw her again after the food was served so we left most of the food on the table and left.

not my kind of place!

a big disappointment. we used to go there when this place was jc's oyster deck. same placement of order and seating. the similarity stops there. gone were the wonderful grouper sandwiches. they said that they were out of oysters that night, but all prices on oysters of any kind were taped out. so no oysters. we ordered the fried fish andshrimpplatter. the only thing that was decent was the slaw and french fries. the fish was an imported fish which is served a lot to save money. it was thin, the breading was flat and tasteless. it looked nothing like their picture; no crunch at all. theshrimpwere fixed the same way. the service was fine, but their food sucks. won't ever go back

too bad there isn't a "i love it" option!! my family always eats at our deck down under multiple times while we are at the beach.... at least 3-4 times during our 8 day stay! it's best at lunch because the crowd isn't as bad!! try the special crab cake andshrimpwrap.... you won't be sorry!! this is my favorite place in daytona beach!

as expected for tourist location. average fried seafood. nice atmosphere. friendly and helpful staff with no notable tourist contempt. onion rings were excellent but friedshrimpwas a bit undercooked:shrimpfine, crust always a bit soft/soggy in spots. happy hour bar deal m-f 5p-7p made drinks very reasonable.

local's favorite. it says something that this place is always packed each time we have eaten there (and we eat there about once a week). first of all, the atmosphere and view on the deck is fabulous. the staff is always friendly and helpful. but the star is the seafood. always very fresh and plentiful. had the fried flounder last time i was there and it was perfect. we love the oysters and grilled fish, as well as, theshrimpwrap. easily the best place to eat in south daytona/port orange.

lost the touch. i have been a customer of our deck down under for many years over 20 and before they moved to the big place on the north side of the bridge...
i know times are hard but you have to maintain the quality of your food, especially when prices keep going up...
i had not been in for a while and last night we went and i have never been more disappointed in the food...
the fish had absolutely no flavor and paper thin, i spent 60 dollars and that was for 2 dinners a lb ofshrimpa coke and a icetea...
i have sent hundreds there but will reconcider and tell them to go to long johns silvers and make a picnic by the water...
i hope the girls know i still love them but they have to stand up against the bad food...

great place!. my parents are very picky when it comes to eating out and they liked this place so much that they went two days in a row! they visited this restaurant for the first time this past weekend and loved it! my mom said that the hush puppies were good and the coleslaw was not swimming in mayo like other places. my dad had theshrimpand crabcake wrap both times they went. along with good food, the service was good as well. i can't wait to try this place out myself when i go to daytona in may.

i really like this place! i'm a big fan of hole-in-the-walls and fresh seafood so this was right up my alley! i had the grilledshrimpplate with a crab cake. no complaints. not the best i've ever had, but definitely worth noting. i'd return if i'm ever in the area again. the atmosphere is great for those who enjoy outdoor dining. i'm not one of them. if i go back i'll eat inside.
