pleasantly surprised. my wife and i actually were planning on trying the new mexican restaurant in the same plaza, however seeing the long line of people waiting outside, we decided to try the oriental spoon instead. we were cautious because we were not really sure whatkoreancuisine consists of. we were immediately greeted by a very friendly staff who made quick recommendations. we trusted the advice, and were rewarded with some of the best food we have had in a long time. must try the tea! i do not even drink tea, and if i do i pour in tons of sugar. nothing extra is needed in their tea, i was unaware tea could be so good the menu is simple and the portions very filling. the flavors are excellent, and the prices very reasonable.

i had the pleasure of dining at the oriental spoon! first of all, i would like to give a big thumbs up to the wait staff for being attentive and professional! i had the spicy chicken bulgogi with a side of kimchi and tofu. the food was good...but not great! this restaurant seems to be a modern take on the traditionalkoreanrestaurant...which isn’t a bad thing. if you are expecting to select your entree and be treated to 10 or sokoreansides...like a traditionalkoreanrestaurant, you nay be disappointed. these items must be ordered separately as appetizers. overall, this is a very nice restaurant with decent food...give it a chance and you may grow to love it!

beef bulgogi soup is incredible. this is a good littlekoreanplace in edwardsville. the atmosphere is okay for a small place, and while the service can be a little slow during the lunch hour - the food is worth the wait.

i have tried the kim chi bap, bibimbap, and the spicy pork bulgogi - but by far the best dish i've had is the beef bulgogi soup. it reminds of pho - deep flavors! i can't bring myself to try anything else when i go there now.

serendipity. decided to have our new year’s diner at our favorite chinese only to discover that it no longer existed. wandered aimlessly down 159 in edwardsville till we saw an oriental restaurant that defined hole in the wall. we decided to kiss a frog. the waiter told us that they werekorean(which we had never tried) and explained the menu.

it was wonderful. on the waiters advise we had crispy egg rolls, kinchi and split an order of spicy pork bulogogi. delicious and cheap. we have found a new favorite place.

delicious & affordable. the oriental spoon is my favorite restaurant, we eat there for valentine's day, anniversaries, and birthdays. the food iskoreanand it is delicious. i have never eaten something i didn't like- although the names are a bit challenging. for appetizers, i'd recommend the egg rolls with peanut dipping sauce and the seaweed wrapped gim rolls. to drink, try one of their real fruit teas- the pear flavored quince is my favorite. for dinner, i'd recommend any of the 'bulgogis' but the spicy pork is my favorite. my new favorite is the 'beef bulgogi bap'. for dessert, try thekoreanpancakes with maple filling and jelly on top.

the spoon now serves alcohol and i would highly recommend the black raspberry saki.

food is moderately priced for a nice, sit down dinner. my husband and i usually get two appetizers, two entrees, and two teas, which costs about $35.00

enjoy!

friday night find. the huz and i just got back from oriental spoon, and we were both pleasantly satisfied with our first experience withkoreanfood. i got chicken bulgogi, and it was a big, tasty portion (boxed it up and brought it home). my husband got the bibimbap, which is a rice dish with vegetables, beef, egg, and a light sauce with a little heat. this is served with a side of egg drop soup. our server was fantastic; she offered to explain anything on the menu that was unfamiliar. but i also really appreciated that the menu had some photos to help you in making a choice you'll love.

we'll definitely be going back soon!

loved it!. this was my first experience withkoreanfood, and i loved it! as a vegan, it's difficult for me to find a restaurant that has a variety, but this one doesn't lack in variety for anyone's dietary choice.

the food had just the right amount of seasoning and was very flavorful. the arrangement on the plate was aesthetically pleasing as well. i left feeling satisfied without being over-stuffed.

for a nice sit down restaurant, the price is very reasonable. very much worth the food and the excellent service.

bad choice for takeout!. i'm not sure how there are all these positive reviews here. i ordered takeout on a friday night. it took almost 45 min for the food to be ready. there are 2 sizes and i chose the larger size assuming we could share but really the quantity is not what you expect from typical asian places.
this iskoreanfood so tastes different than chinese. not bad tasting and not memorable either. even the appetizer had only about 3 slices of beef in it.
on the other hand, people in this area don't have much of a choice and i think food will still sell at this place. i'm never going back though!

oriental spoon--bestkoreanfood. the food at this restaurant is absolutely delicious! order either the chicken pulgogi or the beef pulgogi, and you will be delighted. the pulgogi is fabulous. and my husband says the kimchi fried rice is the best fried rice he's every eaten.
be aware that this is not a chinese restaurant; it'skoreanand the food choices will be different.

delicious. never hadkoreanfood before, but i love chinese and this was better. i was meeting friends and we sat for almost 4 hours chatting. the staff continued to fill our tea glasses, graciously, the entire time, and actually acting like they were happy to have us hanging around that long. we've decided to make this our regular hangout.
p.s. you should try the tea- it's scrumptous.
