no such thing as the authentic bánh mì sandwich bread. i think it's time to come out of hiding and write this review. there is no such thing as authentic bread for bánh mì sandwiches. typically, yes, the bread is suppose to be dry and flaky. this is what you usually will see when buying a bánh mì sandwich at a local vietnamese store or restaurant. oh mai does use the same bread found at other vietnamese store and restaurants but they do not leave them out to dry to become flaky.

a little about my background, i am vietnamese and i have eaten a lot of bánh mì sandwich in my life from utah to vietnam. having oh mai offer a softer bread is wonderful, this makes the sandwich so much better. they use quality ingredients and the service is friendly.

i am actually craving for a sandwich right now... yum. this has to be one of the best places to grab a vietnamese bánh mì sandwich in utah.

believe the hype. this place is the real deal. i was curious to see whether it would live up to my high expectations, considering all the good things i've heard about it, and it certainly did not disappoint. in fact, i'm already planning my next visit. super fresh, super tasty and super cheap. i tried the regular spring rolls and veggie spring rolls and both were very good. next came the honey-glazed pork sandwich and it was excellent. and i must echo what others have already stated: the bread might not be authentic, but it's fantastic nonetheless. here's to opening up the second location as it will alleviate some of the congestion at this one (the one closer to my work). if you haven't tried this place yet, do yourself a favor and go.

this place is incredible. i had the sweet pork sandwich and it was amazing! i could eat the sandwich roll alone and be content.

the staff are some of the nicest people in salt lake, and the food is inexpensive and delicious.

i will be back many times!

i used to go to oh mai all the time until they stopped using resuables for dining in. i am obsessed with all their food! the pho bowls, rice bowls, sandwiches, rainbow salads, egg rolls, you name it! i sometimes feel inclined to order it all at once! love this place. thanks for bringing back reusables. reduce, reuse, recycle

okay, attracted to a 4.9 rating and, afterwards, find myself wondering how/why?

thought i would try 2 different items - one was their pho brisket (p1) and the other was the garlic ribeye steak sandwich (s8).

the pho was okay - but, there was less than 3 slices, very thin (about 1x 2" each).  really, is beef than expensive?  then, again, what can you expect for $6??   overall, this was just average pho - nothing that special.   the sandwich was not that great, either.  very stale bread which crumbled as i tried to take a bite.   actually, the best part was the plum sauce.

service was okay, nothing spectacular as you order up front, get a number, sit down and wait.  ambiance was also okay, but nothing great.

overall, a 3.0 is about the best i can offer and, knowing there are so many other (4+) places to try in slc, i will not be coming back.   sorry, really wanted to be surprised with a 4.9, but in my opinion, it is just average.  oh mai?  more like, "oh no!"

i absolutely love pho and this place has excellent pho! the price is super good and the food delicious. be wary that this place is super popular so it is always busy. if you want to pick up something from this resturant call your order in. it's so popular that parking is almost impossible! the patio is a great place to eat and has a wonderful atmosphere.

this place is amazing! i split a yellow curry chicken and a honey glazed beef sandwich with my sister-in-law because we couldn't decide which sandwiches to order. everything sounded so good! the yellow curry chicken sandwich was spicy and smooth. everything seemed to work together for an delicious experience. the honey glazed pork was wonderful until i hit a jalapeño. i'm not a fan of that much heat. in the future i'll know to leave it off.
my only negative about the whole experience was that they were out of spring rolls when i first ordered. they had a new batch out just as i was getting my order. i had to get back in line but the rolls were worth it.

two of my favorites in one place - and cheap!. the best pho i have had in utah, so far, is the pho tai (ribeye steak) at oh mai. quick, cheap and delicious. to top it off, my favorite sandwich in the valley is the yellow curry chicken at the same place. wonderful flavors, great bread...and what a bargain! the restaurant is small, and typically full every day at lunch (especially on fridays) so hit it early or late and you'll be sure to be able to get a seat.
