i've been to both locations of oh mai numerous times and have ordered the cold cut bahn mi, the pho, the lotus root salad, the bun, the honey glazed pork and rice dish, the mai rolls, and even the black bean drink. i said i like this place but that doesn't mean i like everything here. my favorite item thus far is the cold cut bahn mi. next favorite item is the lotus root salad and the black bean drink. if you are looking for authentic pho then surely this is not the place. but if you like americanized dishes then enjoy. the honey glazed pork was on the salty side. when it comes to the bun, let just say there are tastier ones elsewhere in the valley. you may be wondering why such a negative review on a place that i enjoy going to? well, like i said before i love some of their dishes but not all. just because your vietnamese food is made by a vietnamese person doesn't necessary make your food automatically authentic (this theory holds true to any other restaurant as well, whether thai, chinese, or mexican).

i've heard good things about this restaurant, so i went and i ordered a pork dish. i received rice and 5 small pork medallions that were about 60% fat. it was extremely unappetizing and i got about 6 small bites of pork and some rice out of my whole meal. i wouldn't recommend it, however the iced coffee was quite good for a sweet drink.

wow...i definitely underestimated the vietnamese!. love fresh? love local? well you have just hit the jackpot! oh mai really makes you want to say oh mai. this secluded little dive is an amazing restaurant. they make fresh sandwiches that beat any sub shop any day. their pho obviously, is amazing. i love this place! even though the restaurant is a little bit of a tight squeeze the food is amazing. i will see you again oh mai!

so tasty!. one of the few things that i have missed since i stopped eating meat 3 years ago is pho. not only does oh mai make a meat free pho, but it is also vegan and super tasty on top of it! we will return to try other things on the menu!

ok, i know i am a bit late to the party here – but better late than never right? the rumblings, nay shouts, about oh mai were heard loud and clear – but for some reason it just took me a minute to get there. you know, no carbohydrates and all. but last weekend, we made it. safe and sound, into the arms of one of the best sandwiches i have ever had. i will be honest, i had never had a banh mi sandwich before. so, perhaps because i didn’t know what i was missing out on, i didn’t run directly over to oh mai when they opened. oh mai is a super cute small vietnamese sandwich kitchen located right off state street and and 3425 south in what used to be a home. we entered into a busy, full restaurant with a lot of people enjoying themselves. the menu is located at the front counter and you place your order, find a table, and the food will be brought out to you. we ordered the mai’s roll from the grab and go menu to start: shrimp, pork, rice noodles, lettuce, cucumbers, pickled carrots, shredde

this is probably my favorite place to eat in salt lake. why get a nasty subway sandwich that costs $5 when you could get an incredibly delicious sandwich here for only $4?! just eat here! :d

soooooo good!!. what a find! the menu is packed with great options from bahn mi's to steaming bowls of pha, and more traditional vietnamese noodle dishes. great flavors, fresh produce, excellent broth and you can't beat the prices! it can get crowded but is well worth the line out the door.

everything i've had is delicious!. i work down the street from oh mai and eat there on a weekly basis. i have had 6 of their sandwiches, which are all wonderful. my favorites are s4 and s6. you get an amazing, fresh, and restaurant quality flavors packed into this foot long baguette for the price of a subway and imo 10 times better. you won't regret it. the staff are all extremely friendly and accomodating. one time i got a sandwich that was too salty and i mentioned it to them and they gave me a free certificate for a sandwich the next time i come in. their spring rolls are also tasty. they mentioned they will be getting in a boba machine in the near future (hopefully with avocado). a definite find!

contrast. have had few banh mi before this but feel sure we are now destined to have many more. shared the original cold cut and the honey pork. lovely contrast of textures and flavors.

efficient service. good value. about twelve tables, nearly filled at 1:00 pm saturday. noise level from customers and staff acceptable, but didn't need a tv blaring a dog show.

finally made it in for lunch after driving by for a while and i'm glad i did. the location and building are a bit strange for culturally backwards salt lake but the quaint interior was pleasing and the smells coming from the kitchen were incredible. had the spicy beef short rib banh mi and my wife had the honey glazed pork.
the flavors were bright, fresh and delicious for both of us. i also grabbed a pint of kim chee.
anyone looking for a better lunch needs to stop in.

oh my, oh mai.. in my humble opinion, best pho in slc. i ordered the rib eye / brisket pho, p5 on the menu. the broth was incredible and had a great depth of flavor. the meat was tender, and brisket nice and wet. i couldn't help but order a rib eye sandwich to go for later, but ended up eating half of it on the drive home as it smelled amazing. it tasted even better. the bread is absolutely amazing. similar bread to real philly breed. definitely one of the best spots for lunch in slc if you are into pho or viet sandwiches.
