this is an old-style bakery in malleswaram. it’s self service and extremely popular, so you’ll find a huge queue on most days. there is even a separate ladies queue! one issue we faced while ordering is that there are no printed menus. there is a menu board displayed on a wall, but it mentions only around 10 items while there’s actually a much wider range of goodies available for sale. most customers seem to be regulars, so they know exactly what they want. but for someone who is trying out the place for the first time, it can be difficult to figure out what to order. the servers are in a hurry (understandably) and don’t help much with the selection.
the quality of the food here is outstanding! many items are made fresh each day with the best of ingredients. the food has an old-world charm to it, very different from the commercially produced biscuits andcakesyou get nowadays. instantly reminded of home-made nan-khatai & biscuits.

veg puff 3.5/5
veg toast 3/5
japanese cake 3.5/5
fruit puff/ tutti frutti puff 4/5
green chilli biscuit 4/5
milk biscuit - fastest selling item at og varier. it’s a delicious, crumbly, melt-in-the-mouth biscuit, perfect for dunking in tea! mildly sweet and no added flavour apart from the taste of milk.
plum cake - one of the best i’ve had in a long time. packed with cherries, plums, dates, raisins and all kinds of nuts. had a rich fruity
veg puff- slightly better than your average veg puff. quality of puff pastry was good. in most places, puff fillings consist of only potato & onions. here, it was nice to see a filling with loads of mixed veggies.
veg toast - same filling as the veg puff. bread was baked in house and quality was good. but toast seemed to have been prepared the previous day and wasn’t that fresh.
fruit puff- similar puff base as veg puff but fewer layers. filling was a tutti frutti- almost jammy spread. not too sweet & had a few nuts as well reminding me of a baklava.
japanese cake - two macaroon style crunchy biscuits with butter cream sandwiched in between & rolled in desiccated coconut. the cream was too rich & sweet for me, but the biscuits were good.
green chilli biscuit - crumbly nan-khatai style biscuit flavoured with herbs and fried green chilli. at first bite this doesn’t seem very spicy but the heat kicks in later. very spicy and might not be to everyone’s taste but i loved it.
verdict: must visit for the great quality and home-style taste. prices are slightly on the higher side & service could be better.
