oblivion

i've been here for sundowners, dinner, and as part of the 'past midnight' crowd. oblivion is a spot that can be great for all of those reasons - a quick drink, dinner with friends, and a bit of a jol if you feel like it. the pizza is tasty, the cocktails are good, the service is quick, and the staff are always really friendly and helpful.

this wine bar come restaurant come party place has it all and the best thing is, it is right around the corner from us. like literally a 1 minute drive or a 5 minute walk.

their pizzas are thin with crispy bases and have yummy toppings. we shared a large provence pizza (blue cheese, fresh figs and streaky bacon) and a portion of pepper poppers – like chilli poppers but instead of a jalapeno chilli, these are pepperdews stuffed with cream cheese, covered in breadcrumbs and deep-fried. served with tangy chilli mayo yuuummmmmm!

next time you are thinking of somewhere to go that has a great vibe as well are delish food…. do yourselves a favour and pop into oblivion :)

p.s. you can look forward to a bit of table dancing later into the night!

the batter around fish 100% perfect. will come back again. service also top class. atmosphere -bit quite on thursday but great possibilities

an awesome open air deck outside on roof which was a nice surprise. menu has a lot of choice and everything we had was good.. coffee and beer pretty good.. service i would say is average but friendly.. worth a visit.

i had a burger here a couple of months back and, at the time, rated it as a solid 4!

the patty was good, the burger well prepared & the sauce was good to, albeit served questionably.

there are a lot of ‘buts’ though, that contrived to bring my overall rating down to a mediocre 3, maybe even a 2.5.

these points all focus around service and presentation, and if the management/owners haven’t been for ‘how to serve a meal’ training yet, i suggest they book their spots soon.

first of all the burger was served on a bread board. not uncommon i hear you say, but the one that oblivion uses is a miniature version there-of, barely big enough for the burger to fit on only!
the chips are served separately on a plate and were way over there on the edge of the table behind the condiments and the sauce (served, wrong again- in a tea saucer, not a bowl!).

the chips themselves were nice, but had the girth of eben etzebeths thumbs..?
they were tasty, but due to their sheer size, came across more as long roast potatoes than fries. 

so back to the condiments. i had to ask for ketchup (why, when ordering fries?) and it arrived served in a miniature (yes, again) jam/preserve-type bottle with an opening so small that a teaspoon would barely fit through it.
the problem is they don’t even give you said teaspoon, so you end-up awkwardly pouring it out and it ends up all over the show! maybe that’s why the chips are so big, to catch the cascading tomato sauce…

i happened to be there between 5-7pm which is when they offer their in-house craft beer at a nicely reduced price. (if memory serves r25.00 instead of 39/40 bucks). this is a very decent discount, but what they fail to tell you, and this again just reflects badly on their service, is that only two of the five crafts are on special. to my chagrin i only found this out at payment time when the two i sampled were, obviously, not on the happy hour special!

so a burger and a couple of beers coming in way-north of 200 bucks is just a tad steep if you ask me.

will i be back? might give it another go after my impending lotto win…

amazing food, atmosphere and very friendly, warm service! i enjoyed everything from the starter to the chips i stole off my fiancè's plate and their delicious pizza with the most interesting, but well-paired toppings. i would go back again and again. also, they make a really good americano.

it's a great place and has a wonderful view. i realized this place gets booked quite often and i would like to do it too. the food is very filling and the cocktails are great. one can come here for dates or just to hangout. the atmosphere is very chilled.

great place for drinks and good food. staff is always friendly and inviting. quiz nights are a big bonus of you're into that sort of thing. lots of parking outside. lots of food and drink options. variety of seating options too from sitting inside by the fire on a cold day or soak up some sun outside on a sunny day. well worth visit.

the food wasn't up to standard. overwhelming taste of tomato on the pizzas, spicy wings, not good. again to much tomato paste and the chicken tasted old. on top of this we waited so long to be served and when we were assisted the serves wasn't great. not going back there again!

i have visited this place on three occasions.
the first time, we merely ordered a drink
the second time we shared a pizza.
the third time i was a guest at a friends dinner hosted at this place.

on the second occasion, oblivion was so full that they mixed our food order up and we waited extremely long. the pizza was not worth the wait. it was expensive and honestly rather disappointing. on my third visit, oblivioun was even more packed. the pizza which arrived was like cardboard. hard and tasteless. i felt sick later that evening.

i would advise coming here for some drinks only.

the lighter breakfast is ridiculously good value for money and delicious. service was lovely and the deck is a great place to sit and unwind.

in the sleepy town of harfield village lays oblivion. nestled at the foothill of table mountain. but to the point, wednesday is buy one get one pizza deal. by the numbers you can clearly see its popular with the yokals. not just the pizza but happy hour from 17-19:00. the upstairs deck has a great view of the back of #tablemountain however abit sad smokers enjoy this view. come on guys the smoking needs to nipp the butt

the burger special on tuesday's is amazeballs and awesome value for money. fresh ingredients and everything prepared extremely well. the staff were super friendly; and the service was sublime. can't wait to go back.

a really cool spot for a cold beer, good company and an exquisite, uninterrupted view of table mountain. the beer goes down well and our waitress was pleasant 😊👌🏻

unfortunately, the bacon and brie sandwich i had was deadly underwhelming and small portioned. seems like very little effort went into making it. the vegetarian nachos, however, was pretty flavorful. go there for a view and a pint.
