always a regular with my family. i always love it here. their mango pudding is my favourite it's always so smooth and creamy, not grainy like other places. their deep fried salad shrimp dim sum is like nothing i've ever eaten before, definitely worth the try (don't forget to dip it in the mayo)! the staff is always super nice to us and we always come back for more. i admit it is more of a self serve in terms of drinks (i.e. you have to get your own water after the initial one they pour) but considering everything else they serve tastes good i'm willing to do it. their soup isgreatand very very large so we recommend not ordering much else unless you know 100% that you're super hungry. their regular menu tastesgreatas well, if you order rice i recommend just going for the deluxe fried rice. i hope the owners have lots of success with this one and the other one they just got!

hole in the wall, need key to access washroom outside and down the hall. and excellent dim sum, duck and beef rice noodles! as a chinese, totally what i expect from a place that knows how to cook! service is inadequate if you don't speak cantonese. greatclassic chinatown experience. parking is challenging.

been here a few times and have tried a large variety of their menu. don't be fooled by the name of the restaurant, the noodles here are horrible. but aside from that everything else is decent. love the deep fried shrimp dumplings and the custard buns are agreatdessert. the rice dishes aren't bad either. good dim sum. food is fairly priced

regularly go for dim sum. very casual. chairs are in need of some repair but clean enough. the service is not super friendly but it is efficient and once you order, everything comes out very fast. all of their dim sum is excellent. i love the eggplant stuffed with shrimp and their deluxe shrimp dumpling is agreatchange from shrimp paste to intact shrimp. the classics (pork shao mai, shrimp shao mai, shrimp har gow) are perfect, but it's worth trying something new every time we go because we've never been disappointed with the food. given how fast and good the food is, it's worth the 4/5 despite all else.

this place is cheap, fast, and good. they have agreathappy hour and i am never disappointed when i come here. it's a crappy looking place but the food more than makes up for it. my fav are the pineapple buns, all the dumplings, their orange tripe, everything.. even their fried rice is fantastic.

this is agreatplace for some fast, delicious, cheap dim sum. although they don't roll the food around in carts as many people are used to, the food is no joke. the food has a homey feel and the packed house will well represent that. if you ever find yourself waiting for a table in the crowded restaurant, head over to sam po right across the street because they're both owned by the same people! you can sometimes see employees carrying trays of steamer baskets from one restaurant to the other.

my favorite would be the famous shrimp dumplings (ha cao) and pork dumplings (siu mai) but all of the food is great. what's even better is that happy hour starts from 2-close so you can get all your favorites for cheap. don't sleep on this restaurant. they pack a punch for the tiny restaurant located in the big building in the middle of china town.

food wasgreatfor the price! definitely a place to go if you're hungry but short on cash. employees were a bit cranky and scary because of how they glare at you. don't expect a nice ambiance when you get here because you'd be disappointed. expect more on how the food tastes and it won't let you down.

i have been to noodle express on several occasions and loved the food there and prices are inexpensive, compared to other chinese restaurants.

every time that i've been there, the place is packed. the interior reminds me of a hole-in-the-wall type of restaurant, much similar to the local shops or known as in cantonese, "cha chan teng," which you'll find in hong kong.

when ordering, they provide you with a sheet that has all the food items. all you have to do is put a check mark next to the dishes you want, and flag the waitress/waiter over, and hand it to him/her.

i have tried their dim sum, with the selection being limited, but they do offer a bit more on weekends and holidays. the barbecue pork rice was a generous portion and comes with some chinese greens. the wonton noodle soup is also very good, portion again is generous, and also is served with chinese greens and scallion. other items i have also tried include the pan fried beef ho fan, century egg and lean pork congee, and one of the clay pot rices.

to sum it all, good food, inexpensive, and large portions that'sgreatfor sharing.

went back recently. we're not a fan of their dim sum. they're inexpensive but they're quite greasy and it is a hit and miss. their service is pretty crappy too, even when it's not a busy day. what i do like though is their regular menu food. their deluxe congee? oh my gosh, so good especially with the deep fried long donut! i also like their brisket noodle soup and brisket rice. :)

oily.. i like their congee and their regular menu stuff as it is done well and it is not greasy, but we recently had their dim sum again and everything was so greasy and oily! even on things that shouldn't be (like steamed dumplings... so much oil!). other places manage not to oil it up but here it's ridiculous - my eggplant was swimming in oil that i had to wipe it down with a napkin, and the bottom of my bowl was filled with oil, perhaps a whole tablespoon full. their "black bean sauce" is nothing more than oil.
their steamed beef balls were not balls at all but a mound of grey matter they call beef. it has no flavour whatsoever. we're not one to waste food but we could not finish it at all so we left it there.

at the end of the day i left feeling very sick and that was the only meal i ate that day. i just know i will not be dining there for dim sum any time soon. it's a shame because before i liked their dim sum and i would often praise it for the affordable price and good eats but it seems like it has declined in quality now that it's very well known around these parts.

consistently good.. i've tried some dishes from this place for example, their congee is excellent. had agreatamount of meat inside (i took their "deluxe" congee) and it's a huge portion. their noodle soups are good with a fair amount of noodles and toppings - plus their broth is delicious. so are their wontons.

for dim sum, it's pretty good. some people don't like it because it's a la carte instead of in a cart but i like it a la carte. your food is made fresh and it wasn't sitting in a cart being microwaved over and over again like some places (kum koon and dim sum garden, i'm looking at you!) the stars are the eggplant shrimp, their pork dumplings, squid and among others.

the service is so-so.
actually one time i took some napkins at the counter when we were paying and the lady yelled at me and said i was "stealing" lol okay then. why do you have napkins laying there? she refused to give me napkins while we were dining, my nose was really stuffed that day and i couldn't breathe. you also have to constantly fight for the servers attention to serve you water.

if you don't mind crappy service but you want good food this is the place to be.

the soups are good too!. i will gladly make the 20 min hike to the dynasty building to order the supreme meat noodle soup or the shrimp pork & vegetable wonton soup. you get a huge bowl for agreatprice. plus, this restaurant has opened up a whole new world of asian cuisine to me. who would have thought canola plant (yau choy) in a soup would be so tasty!

june 20 we were headed to dim sum garden on rupert ave. (the “we” being the 3 sisters & our mom) to have a belated birthday supper together.  unfortunately, there was a note on the door saying that they were closed for renovations.  i had arrived first and because it is a bit of a chore to get my mom places by car, i quickly scanned around for an alternate spot to dine.  right across the street is a place that i knew to be formerly called noodle express.  currently, there is a banner blocking the sign that indicates that they serve a dim sum happy hour where the prices are two for one! the decor is nogreatshakes but it is clean and bustling with other diners awaiting their orders.  carts are not wheeled through the dining room.  instead you must order from their menu and if you are not familiar with the name of dim sum items, this can be a challenge.  we were in the clear because sister #3 not only has a stellar memory regarding food items but she actually travelled to beijing last s

my dim sum fix. this is in the heart of chinatown, surrounded by othergreatdim sum places, so it has lots of competition. it follows through with really good food and reallygreatprices. i don't think i've ever been disappointed with anything i've eaten here.

order as much as you want with their write-on menus which is convenient, and makes experimenting items you haven't tried before fun.
