thisplaceis unnecessarily over hipped. nepali foods are really delicious but thisplacewill make you feel like “never have nepali food again”. food quality is extremely cheap and blunt in taste. had many not up to the mark dining experience before but never thought of writing negative feedback but thisplacedisappointed upto the brim.
one star because the decor and ambience are good.

decor and ambience wise, theplaceis nice. it is extremely neat and clean.
but the food was horrible. i had ordered a thupka and a chicken starter. both were bad in terms of taste.

would give it a zero if i could. rude staff. ordered jhol momo which completely tasteless. my wife ordered thakali thali (chicken), pork was served instead. when asked what meat was that, they discussed with each other in their language and made fun of the situation( saw them without their notice) and the server said it was chicken(lied on my face). my wife don’t eat pork, so i didn’t want her to know that she had pork, so didn’t make a fuss. suggest not to come here and spoil your beautiful outing. honest review. kindly do not visit thisplacelooking at ratings.

a goodplacebut the staff has no clue about service. we were seated in a good table but when the lights went off only on our table there was no light and staff expected us to eat in the dark.. i was adamant to beget at least a candle which they did about 30 mins later. the food was great but they were really bad in terms of talking to customers or seating customers..

we were visiting from mumbai. were told this is a mustplaceto visit. over a period of two days, went thrice to try and get a table - but some issue or another.placeshut down early. no lights. went the third time thinking “third time is the charm”. oddly, what stood out is the unprofessionalism of the staff. very rude. agree it is a popular place, but seems to have reached their head.

in our third visit, we were told that theplaceis full. and so we offered to grab a drink at the bar and wait. but we were told to wait downstairs instead (i.e. outside the restaurant) and that too in a very very rude tone, by the guy behind bar. sad. but, not attempting again.

absolutely loved the ambiance of the place, theplacewas neat and the brass utensils were lovely,

the jhol momo was out of this world with thin momos in a warm tomato based soup that was perfect for the cold weather.

the next thing that we loved was the phing ( glass noodle) was absolutely delicious.

the thali was a little underwhelming. i've had better ones in kolkata itself. have eaten a lot of hill thalis but this was strictly average.

the shaphale was decent, won't say wow.

but overall the food was nice and i would surely recommend the jhol momo and phing

we had an amazing experience here. just coming from a west sikkim trip, we wanted to re-live the local cuisine which we experienced in our home stays. nimtho has created a beautiful ambience with its mudd and wood interior with beautiful art works and all brass plates and cups.

the chef vishnu was extremely helpful and came to our table when we asked for recommendations and some alterations as i don't like certain preparations. he made the extra effort to prepare it in a way i like it without compromising on the taste. he later came again to check on us. outstanding!
they even had the local drink chang in a tongba here which we'd enjoyed a lot during out trip.

theplaceis a must visit for everyone visiting gangtok!

being a food admirer i love to taste local food whenever i travel. i can connect with theplace more in this way. nimtho means warm invitation in sikkimese language. if you want to have authentic tibetan, sikkimese or nepalese food then this is the place. the interior decor waa beautifully rooted to their culture. we ordered phing, chicken choila, chicken sandheko, phapar ko roti, nepalese chicken curry and trust me you would love it. overall wonderful experience ..

we loved nimtho and recommend it as the bestplaceto eat if you are in search of local authentic cuisine. the options are mouthwatering n the dishes themselves are extremely delicious. the ambience and staff are very pleasant too. just wish they could match the washroom hygiene to the rest of the standard that they maintain.

i am not used to giving a bad review but i seriously did not like the food. the service was too slow. the only good thing about thisplacewas the ambience, the nepalese vibe.being a foodie i definitely don't prefer thisplacefor good food.

an absolutely amazing experience! such well portioned, delicious and authentic food. we had the local alcohol tongba which is a must try for any beer enthusiast. jhol momos, momos in soup, were such a change from the usual momos. the sikkimese and thakali thali, in both non vegetarian and vegetarian options was a great choice! thisplacehas great vibes and the servers are very knowledgeable and friendly. a must visit for whoever visits gangtok!

decentplacefor local cuisine. we tried their jhol momo which was very good. steamed bun and nepali mutton curry was also a good and filling combination. shaphaley( i hope the spelling is right) is kind of a bigger version of the fried momo but much tastier and crispier. the only thing we didn't like was the achar made of cheese...i think it was the smell of the yak's milk that made the cheese different. the localities might find it good as they are used to the flavour, but it didn't suite our taste buds. however,it was a good experience.
