this place is unnecessarily over hipped. nepali foods are really delicious but this place will make you feel like “never have nepali food again”. food quality is extremely cheap and blunt in taste. had many not up to the mark dining experience before but never thought of writing negative feedback but this place disappointed upto the brim.
one star because the decor and ambience are good.

decor and ambience wise, the place is nice. it is extremely neat and clean.
but the food was horrible. i had ordered a thupka and a chicken starter. both were bad in terms of taste.

excellent food! the jhol momos and the phalley were great. certainly a must visit restaurant while exploring gangtok! also, the service was great!

visited this restaurant 30 mins back and had a horrible experience. though they are one of the most highly rated restaurants in gangtok, yet they don't even maintain the basic hygiene. we ordered pork choila and the pork pieces are still having hair from the skin. on complaining and reporting this issue, though the cook agreed that it is a fault on their side agreeing to even replace the item, the restaurant manager in asked us to leave the restaurant immediately since we were atteacting attention from other customers present in the restaurants.

would give it a zero if i could. rude staff. ordered jhol momo which completely tasteless. my wife ordered thakali thali (chicken), pork was served instead. when asked what meat was that, they discussed with each other in their language and made fun of the situation( saw them without their notice) and the server said it was chicken(lied on my face). my wife don’t eat pork, so i didn’t want her to know that she had pork, so didn’t make a fuss. suggest not to come here and spoil your beautiful outing. honest review. kindly do not visit this place looking at ratings.

absolutely loved the pork thali here at nimtho! the accompaniments were as good as the pork in itself. even tried pork trotters for the first time, which were a little fattier than expected, but still yum!

this is one of the famous places in gangtok for authentic sikkimese food. it is frequented by locals and tourists alike. the ambience is lovely, very sophisticated.

we had ordered sikkimese thali, local style mutton starter and chicken momo jhol. the mutton starter was tasty but bones and fat pieces were a let down. the chicken momo jhol was decent. coming to the thali, the curries were simple little bit similar to bengali cuisine except one fermented curry which was very different and can be described as an acquired taste.
we had also ordered a rice wine, which was same kind of acquired taste. some will like it, some won't.

but all in all, worth visiting for sure for it's unique dishes!

decent place.. finedine place. good crowd, quite and quaint, good service. food was good, the staff could do better, with knowing thier dishes... especially as gangtok has lot of tourist who come there to taste some thing new .

must try sikkimese thaali, which is really delicious and end with sevai (sweet vermicelli pudding)
ambience is truly traditional and staff is really courteous.

a good place but the staff has no clue about service. we were seated in a good table but when the lights went off only on our table there was no light and staff expected us to eat in the dark.. i was adamant to beget at least a candle which they did about 30 mins later. the food was great but they were really bad in terms of talking to customers or seating customers..

my experience was similar to that of another reviewer. they gave us the menu,took the order and after 30 min told that only thali is available.

we were visiting from mumbai. were told this is a must place to visit. over a period of two days, went thrice to try and get a table - but some issue or another. place shut down early. no lights. went the third time thinking “third time is the charm”. oddly, what stood out is the unprofessionalism of the staff. very rude. agree it is a popular place, but seems to have reached their head.

in our third visit, we were told that the place is full. and so we offered to grab a drink at the bar and wait. but we were told to wait downstairs instead (i.e. outside the restaurant) and that too in a very very rude tone, by the guy behind bar. sad. but, not attempting again.

worst ever service ever. sitting in the restaurant and writing the review. waiting for more than 45 mins. we didn't get even a single dish we ordered. the waiters don't care at all. to take the order the waiter took more than 5 mins. and since then no one has even bothered to come and serve us even water. i wish i could give them 0 rating

very poor service. had to ask for everything - plates, water, mouth freshener. from start to finish probably coz the service staff was stretched due to christmas week. food was just average and they were already out of lot of items by 7pm.
