new orleans lunchbox

wasn't crazy about it. disappointing food and service/. my husband and i decided to eat here after hearing a couple of good reviews. we had ordered the 1/2 sausage poboy,redbeans and rice, and gumbo.

the sausage was good but sparse on the poboy. big piece of bread and one small split sausage with no toppings. by the way they were out of lettuce. (??)

theredbeans and rice were overly soupy like they added water to make it last a little further. no sausage inredbeans and bland.

gumbo was bland and watery. no substance to it at all. no vegetables, 1/2 a piece of shrimp, and a few pieces of chicken thigh meat. it didn't have any flavor at all. added alot of hot sauce to even make it palpable.

the woman waiting on us seemed to be in a bad mood and was saying curse words under her breath. just not very friendly.

growing up in cajun country, i know good cajun food and this was not it. sorry.

this was our first visit there and probably the last. the lunch special w/ the 1/2 poboy, one side, and huge tea for $8.99 was not a good value. i would soon go to the poboy factory and get the scruffy special.

this is the best cajun food in town and some of the best barbecue. theredbeans and rice with smoked or andouille sausage is killer. they have crawfish platters and sell live crawfish when in season. the brisket and pork barbecue sandwiches are huge and delicious. the green beans are great as well.

i was excited about eating here after reading all the reviews, but my sausage poor boy was cut in junks instead of being whole. it kept falling apart. it tasted like hillshire farms smoked sausage. my husband got the roast beef and thought it was ok. he said he had better. he thought theredbeans and rice were good. as much as we paid, i was expecting more.

best barbecue i've had in huntsville! great smoked sausage andredbeans and rice. i wish they were open all the time!

stopped by for the first time today and has a sausage poboy withredbeans and rice on the side. the sandwitch was great, very flavorful with lots of fresh fixings. theredbeans were a little disappointing, rather soupy and bland. i'll definetly be back for the sandwiches but i'll probably try a different side next time.

awesome food. if you haven't ate at new orleans lunch box you are missing out!! the best boiled new orleans fresh crawfish in town!! and theredbeans are great!! the gumbo is to write home about. if you visit here you'll love the food!! the bread pudding is great! we love it and bring all our friends here!!

i first heard about new orleans lunch box from some coworkers whose main descriptor was that it was in the bp station at the corner of jordan and holmes. this sounded like it had the potential to be either a true hidden gem or a complete disaster. so naturally, i had to check it out. i parked at the gas station and walked into the building which surprised me with both it's cleanliness and the small dine-in area. the counter was straight back from the door, below a menu board on the wall. i opted for that day's special--half of a smoked sausage po boy, one side, and a 32 oz tea. they offer all manner of toppings for the po boys--mayo, mustard, bbq sauce, jalapeños, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes--but i kept it simple with just lettuce and tomatoes. for my side, i selected theredbeans and rice. i had my food in hand less than 10 minutes after i arrived and i settled down at one of the tables to soak up the mid-day sun. my sandwich was delicious. the bread was better than average french bre
