ok namasakar, time to update my review to 5 stars... congratulations on your beautiful interior! (i've been meaning to do this for a year now, sorry) the black tablecloths, richly patterned wallpapers and blingy glass light fittings combine to make the entire eating experience a real pleasure. thank you for your consistently wonderful food and service, because we take all our out-of-town guests there and are never disappointed. we ooh and ahh every single time we dine at namaskar... and that's alot! just took my mother and father there last night. my dad grew up in india and my mom is a gourmet cook, so they know a little something about indian food... they proclaimed it the best they'd ever had. impressive! :)

namaskar never fails to deliver. the food is always great, takeout or eat-in. we are not food critics, but do enjoy our indian, and it's fantastic to find a place that is so consistent with their quality and service - judging by the other reviews on this site, we're not the only people who think this! keep up the great work staff at namaskar!

a group of us had an excellent experience at namaskar today. we couldn't have asked for more polite or helpful staff. the meals were tasteful and well presented. we had no problem with the decor, unlike the previous reviewer we felt it to be subdued which gave a relaxed atmosphere and unlike many restaurants, the acoustics were good.
overall, a lovely meal. we all said we would be back individually and as a group. highhly recommended.

the food was scrumptious. everything we ordered came exactly what was described to us. customer service was exemplary. i would highly recommend to visit if you visiting havelock north soon.

having been to many indian restaurants in the world, we sincerely say this restaurant is one of the best. very well run, delicious food, attentive staff, very clean, good wine selection. very highly recommended.

in havelock north on holiday, wish we booked ahead of time as the restaurant looked inviting! we ordered takeaways, received all the food we ordered, hot and fresh. the food tasted well balanced, spicy and authentic. the chefs are talented and would recommend this restaurant to anyone. keep up the great work.

visting friends in havelock north for the long weekend we went to namaskar last saturday night.  first impressions, very nice decor and layout and the place was full with people waiting for tables, a good sign.   thank goodness we had booked.  top marks to the waitress who heard us saying how indian restaurants offer keema naan but not a keema curry, one of our favourites.  she said she would ask the chef if he would do one for us, came back with an instant yes! so we were sold!    mixed vege entree yummy and plenty of it.  all the curries came out as ordered and the helpings plentiful.....a great dining experience and wonderful authentic food.  the manager came over and had a chat and was very friendly and pleasant to talk with. thanks for going the extra mile to make us the keema curry

ordered takeaway and told 15-20 min wait
went to pick up and waited a further 40mins no apology and argued we'd only just rung
if we weren't so hungry would have walked out. average food disappointing service

was a good restaurant and a great meal. a little spicy for my palate but really fresh and curries tasted different with a good blend of spices

the best indian i've had in a long time! perfectly balanced dishes (i tried each one at our table!). a great range of meals to choose from and i particularly enjoyed the vegetarian dishes which i don't usually go for. loved the different choices of rice available too. kind attentive staff, beautiful decor and a very warm atmosphere. its a pity i live in auckland otherwise this would be my new regular!

we visited napier recently and enjoyed a lovely family meal at namaskar india. the service was attentive without being obtrusive and the food was excellent. i had a seafood based curry that was beautifully cooked and spiced. i wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others. thank you!

authentic tasting, fresh and tasty food and a beautifully redesigned interior. have dined here for both romantic evenings and more recently with a larger group of four adults and four children for lunch. service is consistently attentive and welcoming with intuitive timing. what can i say but it's my favourite on every level!

the best indian food in all of new zealand. the subtle blends of spices and ingredients are cooked to perfection and presented equally well. staff are friendly and the service is excellent. the choice of dishes covers a wide range. we have made over five visits in the last few weeks both lunchtime and evening and the fine standard was maintained throughout.

i went here during my holiday over the xmas break. after taking the first few mouthfuls of my dish i thought to myself i have to come back here again before i go. seriously the best indian dish i have ever had, the chicken was so tender and the overall dish was very tasty. the naan bread was nice, light and tasty. it wasn't like other indian places where the bread seems heavy and soggy. the second time i went i took my 3 year old daughter and they we so accommodating towards her. the popped her up on a cushion and delivered a very tasty butter chicken which she loved. no complaints about this place, if you are in the area definitely stop here for a bite to eat. i can’t wait until i am back at easter time i am sure to pay another visit!

been several times for lunch and dinner and enjoyed as takeaway also. a professional establishment with excellent front of house staff. you are welcomed warmly, seated and offered drinks upon arrival. the wait staff make the place. very child friendly (we split a main between 2 kids). loved the chicken tikka masala - asked for extra hot and it arrived with a side dish of the hottest chili sauce imaginable so i could spice it up to my liking. butter chicken is rich and creamy, in fact everything but the vegetarian sizzling platter was pleasing. it is a little pricey and the fact you purchase your rice is unusual, but the quality and experience balance this out.
