monty's blue plate diner

i always take my family here when they come in from out of town. we are all vegetarian, with various degrees of lactose tolerance. i always make a point to get the vegetarian soup of the day, and i have never been disappointed. i love a restaurant that will reliably hit me with agoodvegetarian soup. more often than not, i also get the heathen vegan sandwich, but i always add cheese because 1) i'm not vegan and 2) i love joy.i've taken g/f and g/s friends to monty's and heard no reports of upset tumms, or otherwise. so, i'd give montys a 5/5 for catering to special diets well.  the pies at monty's are just awesome too. for pi day this year, i got my boyfriend and i a mississippi mud pie to share, and ultimately caught him eating it out of the fridge at midnight with his hands.all in all, there's a reason monty's has been around as long as it has, and its the consistently fun atmosphere andgoodfood.

agoodsend off. this was 1 of my final 2 breakfasts in the great state of wi as i am leaving for seattle on wednesday this week. my mother and i came here on her request to go someplace new before i left town. i had not been here myself so i took her up on the offer. our food was great!goodservice, great coffee, fast food prep from order to plates on the table as well. had a decent flow of people coming in the whole morning as well which must say something about the place. i highly suggest the sweet potato hash for breakfast and do try a biscuit or 2 as well, great with some honey and coffee! great prices as well.

great diner.. i've had breakfast here twice and lunch before i left town. i couldn't stay away. i really like this eclectic diner. the food isgooddiner fare and the people who eat here are a lot of fun to talk to while you wait.

hit or miss. i've had too many misses to say i like this place. when they are on they aregoodbut they are off as often as they are on. i won't wait in line to see what i will get. i will go if they are not busy and that is when this diner has prettygoodfood. casual, friendly staff and typical diner food. try it if you can get in the door without a wait.

i've never had anything but breakfast food here but it has always been great. the donut french toast is delicious and totally worth the calories.goodcoffee and friendly service. i also ordered a lemon meringue pie for my hubby's birthday this year and it got rave reviews at our house.

i've hadgoodexperiences here and bad ones too. i like the wide variety veg options but like another reviewer i too have gotten cold food. once i had the grilled cheese sandwich and the bread was moldy. it's a hit or a miss here in my opinion.

why do i keep going back?. i've been at least half a dozen times and have not once had agoodmeal. i go back against my preferences "one more time" for friends who love the place and are convinced that i've just had bad luck, but it is never better. every meal i've been served has been cold. i've been for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and it doesn't seem to matter. the eggs are just as cold as the burgers. on my last visit, i and my friend ordered the same omelet and while his appeared to be warm, mine was so cold the cheese barely softened from its shreds.

i have no idea why people love this restaurant so much. the food is barely mediocre and the menu selection is not very inspirational.
