ambiance parallels food. as soon as we walked into mokomandy, we were seated by a cordial waitress (no waiting, no reservations necessary- but you can opt to make reservations online). wine selection was decent, food variety was unique. some amazing choices i'd reccomend- gator croquette, jalepeno hush puppies, oyster poboys, pei mussels, jambalya, and the rum bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and caramel drizzle for dessert. the poboys are the cutest and tastiest i have ever had; the hot sauce on the side gives it a kick. the jambalya was sam's favorite dish of the night. theplaceserves dishes in snack, small, medium, and large portions (much like dim sum/ tasa). so for a party of two, 3-4 medium/small plates should be filling. but mokomandy is not theplaceto visit if you're looking for a hearty meal. go to enjoy a conversation over delicious korean and creole inventions and superb service. (two waitresses were generous with compliments, and our waiter had a cute sense of humor. new plates were given to us after every dish without us having to request.) the restaurant also has a wonderful ambiance- perfect for a date. the lighting is soft enough to give it the date atmosphere; not so dim that you can't see your food, not too bright that you feel like you're in a fast food place. my boyfriend loved the simple yet elegant and modern decor. mokomandy is opening up anotherplacesoon near the dc metro area, which is expected of a charm like this. it is rare that you find such a restaurant in sterling. we definitely recommend if you want a treat! it's a sure bet for a "date-night"!
