mkc - madras kitchen company

had an amazing lunch at mkc ( madras kitchen company ) new restaurant which opened last week.

the ambience is nice and comfortable,

the cuisine is indian and asian street food.

1. crispy chilly lamb.
it was juicy and cooked to perfection the way i liked it.
2. thai shrimps toast ( photo missing )
this was nice juicy prawns topped on small toast bread like garlic bread. along with garlic chutney and sautéd onions .
3.pepper beef with parota.
this was the star of all dishes juicy and nicely peppered beef along with crispy parota.
4. railway station biriyani ( photo missing)
this was palakad style biriyani along with pappad and raitha.
5. textured chocolate (dessert )
this was 3 chocolate mousse cake with berry filling inside. should say one of the best i had, as i was really tempted to order it again.
4. cold pressed orange juice
5. cold pressed watermelon with basil.
6. fish pollichaythu was really amazing with kukum tamarind used in the masala.

service takes time as it’s made from scratch after we order it.

the staff was very nice and eager to help us. our hostess aleena i need to mention was really good ensured we had a nice time during our lunch

even the prices was low compared to a 5 star property and reasonable.


overall a wonderful lunch on a saturday. — eating lunch at the westin chennai velachery.

good spread of food from across the country. the taste is great and hospitality is praiseworthy. take manager's recommendations while ordering, it turned out to be superb every time in our case.

had a nice dinner with my brother and sister , very impressive and delicious i personally request every one to visit at least once to this restaurant in westin chennai velachery and the service was great hats off to the chef and the people who are working

a beautiful blend of north and the south cuisine . the major highlight is the half cut plate served with food ! might sound like a kid, but found it very unique and striking of the restaurant.

i am sure i will be back for more !

wanted to try out this newly opened restaurant in westin. we were amazed by the ambience of this place. such a lovely place to walk in.
they have a variety of food from south indian to north indian and asian too.
the main usp would be the price . it is cheaper compared to other star hotels , and the food served is definitely worth the money you spend.
no complaints whatsoever on the service part.
overall a place which doesn't let u down on any aspect. !

if i could rate mkc higher than the maximum permitted i would. that’s how delicious the food was.

for chennai, that is madras, degustation is an idea whose time has come. i have visited more than a handful of restaurants and can safely say the westin’s mkc has got it right.

all credit to chef utkarsh and isaac who made this gastronomic experience a culinary art. gustation is all about tasting small portions of a chef's signature dishes in one go. mkc’s variation is bringing all indian and south east asian tiffin/street food as small plates or starters. whether it was the idli with spicy powder, the skewered baby corn, dim sum, or vada paav the taste was authentic. the concept is not ‘luxuriate’ the food but present it as-is and serve it in a setting which is relaxed yet authentic.

the main course of quinoa pulav was so so delicious that the raita wasn’t needed. not many chefs can whip up this sort of a magical dish.

the divinely delicious food; extensive menu, efficient service and the understated luxury make mkc a must try restaurant in chennai that is madras. i suppose mkc will ensure the success of degustation as a concept in this modern yet mostly conservative city.

contrary to its name, this restaurant serves the very best from across india, albeit with its signature twist. the fascinating thing is the authenticity - unadulterated flavours without the regular "5 star" touchup we are all so accustomed to. a must visit for any foodie ....

i rarely write reviews but i had to for this one. i’ve always felt chennai lacks fusion food - quirky presentation type of restaurants that one can find in major in places like bombay, delhi or bangalore.
mkc clearly is first of its kind in chennai, and the food tastes as good as it looks (totally instagram worthy). what took me by surprise though was the price point, which turned out to be super affordable for a place like westin!!
i’m glad to see chennai catching up with such fusion restaurants, and its definitely a must visit for both young and old !

by chance i fell.upon this restaurant.
we wanted to dine in seasonal tastes.
but got to know they had a new restaurant opened in the hotel and hence tried it out.

i should say, the restaurant is cozily done.
reading materials was there as part of decor.
red bricks as wall panels.

the food was very nice and akruri was pick of the lot.
presentation of food was a highlight.
isaac was very polite and answered all our questions.

when it came to food pricing i was blown away.
not what you expect from a 5 star hotel.
cheaper than a lot of standalone restaurants as well.

great new place in the city!
in place of the earlier chinese restaurant, westin had introduced a fresh new version with a twist in the menu !

the ambience , service and feel of the restaurant is as soothing as you can get.

tried a variety of dishes from their menu,
would definitely recommend their parsi accuri and the shrimp on toast (which we ended up ordering on repeat!)
