one of our favourites. we have been coming here for sometime, it's one of our must eat at places everytime were in brisbane. we have tried many of the dishes on the lunch and dinner menus and have never been disappointed. quality and freshness has always been there. great sake too. japanese is one of our favourite cuisines, we have always eaten it family style though and not as individual dishes even when there is only 2 of us. i'm not sure if this works out cheaper or dearer but we always walk away content. i'm confused as to why other reviewers have complained about the prices here as we have eaten at many japanese restaurants across australia and this place is very comparable. i have always found the staff to be very competent and friendly and if there is a problem with our booking or they are running low on an item for the dinner service they ring to let you know well in advance so you have the option of cancelling or pre-ordering. that's courteous service.

the only thing i can say good about this place is the soup was good. the service was slow, the little train that is supposed to bring around the sushi was never filled and they were out of king salmon!!! will probably not go back.

consistently great!. the staff could not be nicer at mizu. the food is always fresh and delicious and very reasonably priced - portions are generous. i love to come here with a group of friends and get a bunch of things to share. one of those places i hope never changes

went there for my birthday and just had izakaya dishes. was great and enjoyed it. they should probably have a better location to complement the great food.

imported food with unknown ingredients. i had high hopes for this restaurant after reading all the good reviews. sadly i was really disappointed. i ordered fish cakes and being allergic to squid, they confirmed there was none in them. when they came, they definitely tasted like there was squid in them and when i asked the waitress to confirm, it turned out she actually didn't know and when the chef was asked i was told that they had no idea what was in them as they were imported from overseas and the ingredients on the packet only said fish. this put me off straight away i'm afraid as the food is not fresh and who knows what goes into it.
sadly i was right and that night i was ill! sad times!

i did enjoy the food here - that is i really enjoyed the maguro tataki - however i'm still sitting in the middle about this place. (but definitely leaning towards the like rather than dislike scale!!)

perfectly presented food.. i've eaten at mizu twice now and adore the place. we usually get smaller dishes to share which is a better way to go than getting a main each. everything is perfectly presented with clean flavours. service was attentive and friendly but unobtrusive. the sauces are well balanced, my partner particular enjoyed the sauce on the takoyaki, and i thought my kaiso salad was beautifully dressed. yes, if you get all the trimmings (we had sake and dessert with our meal) you'll spend a bit but it's not as outrageously expensive as some of the other reviews say. we are reasonably small eaters and don't eat huge amounts of meat, if you like to get a 350 gram steak when you go out for dinner this might not be the right place for you but otherwise i highly recommend it. try the agedashi tofu, the broth is delicious!

mizu platter received a recommendation from someone of this japanese restaurant down in teneriffe, not far from the brisbane river.. went here for dinner one night, and it was quite busy and got busier as the time got later... i have heard that their breakfast here were basically like traditional japanese breakfast, maybe some fusionised westernly... though a little restaurant that doesn't look like much, located under an apartment or so, many has said that this restaurant is definitely a have-to-go for japanese food..  though a little restaurant that doesn't look like much, located under an apartment or so, many has said that this restaurant is definitely a have-to-go for japanese food..

foodwise, everything is decidedly japanese, from the okonomiyaki (savoury pancakes with rocket, bbq sauce, mayo, seaweed and pickled ginger), to the mizu omelette of either soy glazed roasted pumpkin and sweet potatoes, or fresh crab meat and shallots.

disappointment. we've been to mizu ten or more times now -- it's a nice neighborhood japanese cafe, pleasant staff and good enough food. not a place you'd come a long way for, but if you live in teneriffe or new farm it's a fine low-key option. however, we went there at 9:30 on a recent friday night and were turned away as the kitchen had closed. this is a restaurant whose website claims is open for dinner each night from "6:00 to late." it seems to me that if you're not open at 9:30 on friday, then you're not open late, and you're misleading customers by claiming that you are. i emailed management for clarification and got no response. we are not anxious to return.

unbelievable. we are regulars to mizu. called in an order tonight for over $70.00. got to the restaurant, and they had no record of my order, although the hostess took my order 20 minutes earlier and had my cell phone number.
this is what happens when you have so much business, but you hire folks who are not qualified and have no customer service appeal....

not worth the price. first, despite a nearly empty restaurant our party was seated in the back right next to the phone and register. while our waitress was quite attentive, the rest of the staff (including those who were to be preparing our meal) were standing in this area chatting away. the tempura dishes were good, but the sushi and rolls were sub-par. we had much fresher eel in the middle of texas. the ginger dressing on the salad was too sweet, and the sauce for the tempura was bland. i expected much better in the sushi department given the rave reviews, but honestly, i was disappointed.
