i don't even like grits but i was taken aback by the stone ground grits w/bacon. worth the wait to experience palate explosion!!!!

i love mrs. shirley's cafe. i literally love eating at mrs. shirley's cafe. there is always a wait on the weekends but it is worth it. i take everyone that visits me to the inner harbor restaurant. try the monkey bread!!! everything i have ever ordered has been great all around. the service is also fast and friendly!!! 5 thumbs up!

worth the wait. be prepared to wait on weekends... but it is worth the wait. fresh, hot and delicious food. large portions. wow! would like to see this eatery expand to outside the baltimore area.

a must return location. incredibly great food (and i couldn't order what i wanted due to allergies). service was extraordinary, appropriate to a fine dining experience. lauren our server was perfect. even the other happy and satisfied breakfasters were a delight to be with. tip: go on weekdays, there was no wait.

good service, thanks brianna! the chicken and waffles were good, not memorable. the waffles were not much different than others i have had before. there are still many items to try on the menu, i plan on coming back to try more.

came here with high expectations. great reviews and photos to go with them. waited 45 minutes to sit down. there's a chicken and biscuits item on the menu with pulled bbq chicken. instead i asked if i could switch to the fried chicken which is in the chicken and waffles. i told her i wouldn't mind paying an up charge. i'm sorry but bbq chicken and eggs to me don't seem to mix. i was informed that i could not substitute anything on the menu because the kitchen is too busy. i couldn't get a side of fried chicken or anything. i ended up getting the two eggs meal to try and make my own version with the turkey sausage. well when that came out my turkey sausage was extremely dry and there was no biscuit and my poached eggs were completely cooked through. i also ordered a green tea that never came. one positive thing i can say is the monkey bread was great. what a disappointment visiting from out of town.

we were given a table pager that didn't work. when i brought this to the hostess' attention; she was not apologetic and didn't seem bothered by the fact we waited longer since we didn't have a working pager. bad customer service. this was my initial impression of this establishment.

amazing food, decent service. i organized a weekend outing in baltimore to celebrate my friend's 30th birthday. we visited miss shirley's for brunch as part of the festivities. we all had trouble finding parking but eventually arrived at 2pm on a saturday. because we were a large group (10) we waited about 15 minutes to be seated, but had some delicious drinks (shirley's crush and miss mimosa) while we waited. we ordered a mix of lunch and breakfast items and everyone was wowed by the quality of the food and the portion size. top recommendations include the maryland crab soup, south of the border omelet, crab cake and fried green tomato eggs benedict, shirley's lump crab cake sandwich, and nana's grilled cheese. our server was friendly and tried his best, but we waited longer than we would have liked for him to greet us, take our order, and return to pick up the check, probably because he had to serve the whole patio by himself. the food was amazing and everyone thanked me for choosing this venue.

let's get the only bad thing out of the way: server asked us to hand her stuff and take stuff from her a lot, but that might just be how it is up here. also, prices prevent most people from making this place a daily eat. 25 minute wait on a sunday around noon, not bad for such a renowned eatery! no appetizers, straight to the main meal: white chocolate and chocolate chip pancakes for me, a nap-inducing dish that the rest of my family finished for their dessert. tasted the good biscuit and the great grits, both relying on the secret ingredient known as butter. also got a taste of both the bayou and the seafood trio omelettes, really enjoyed both! they are a must if you like eggs (unlike me). this place has earned its rep!

not worth the amazingly long wait times.

just in short, staff was good not great. but food was fun, not of the norm and presented very nicely. not to mention it was pretty good to eat. would recommend to anyone.

i had the crab cristo. it came in 2 big pieces. super buttery to the point where i got headaches. one piece only had a tablespoon of crab. disappointed :( and expensive
