3 strikes - never ever going back.. i had been to mike anderson's before the fire and remodel and had bad oysters on 2 different occasions (2 strikes). after they reopened, i decided to give them another try. my boyfriend got the charbrolied fish of the day... it came with some sauce over it (we think it was made with rancid canned mushrooms) that left an aweful taste in our mouths. it was disgusting. i got the steamedseafoodand veggies. it was basically some tiny shrimp, crab claws and crawfish tails with crab boilseafoodseasoning and some bland, poorly cooked veggies. it tasted slightly better than it looked - i didn't want to eat it when i first saw it. i could have made a meal 20x better at home for the money i paid for this lousy meal. the only good thing about the place was the baked sweet potato fries and the remodel looked really nice (the outside area is great); it's a shame the food is so terrible. also, when we were paying for our meal we saw some tables next to us with boiled crawfish. my boyfriend and i both would have ordered that over what we chose off the menu had our server told us that was an option. when we asked her she said she didn't even know they had crawfish that day. i'm still kicking myself for actually paying for that food.

good but expensive. i dislike their fried seafood. i would recommend their broiled and bakedseafoodentrees. if you order enough different entrees from here, you'll notice that they stuff everything with crab meat. this isn't necessarily a bad thing just something i felt was noteworthy.

very good, huge portions. best items were oysters bienville, crawfish étouffée, crabmeat au gratin and theseafoodgumbo. dessert was creme brûlée, excellent marks. fast and friendly staff, very helpful with menu suggestions.

good but need a lunch menu on weekends. the crab 7 ways and broiledseafoodplatter are too much food for a lunch offering. also, the spice level, garlic i think, was too high on many of the dishes on each plate for us. those things being said, the overall meal was good just too much for the time slot.

fried crab fingers were cooked nicely and crunchy out, soft in. nothing on the two dinners was bad but a couple of them lacked severely in plate appeal. looked like clumps of goo on the platter. loved the pepper jam dressing on my salad too.
crabmeat cocktail was mostly claw meat but tasty. they were out of canebreak on the day we dined as well.

i would give it:

ambience: 3 out of 5
service: 4 out of 5
food: 3.5 out of 5

overall 3.5 out of 5 and does warrant a dinner time trip back in.

broiledseafoodplatter will really disappoint. also the mac and cheese is yucky. mike a's is not what it used to be. could i have accidentally been served someone's leftovers from the night before?

before traveling to louisiana, i had two people highly recommend mike anderson’s. it is located in baton rouge, la. we were visiting baton rouge for a couple of days while on a business trip. i am so thrilled mike anderson’s restaurant was recommended to us. it was one of the bestseafoodrestaurants i have ever tried. check out their amazing menu. mike anderson’s has been around 35 years that tells me they can cook. when mike anderson started his restaurant, he knew he want his customers to get their money’s worth. he wanted everyone to leave the restaurant full, have leftovers, and receive great service. my family and i experience all of this. we truly enjoyed our visit to mike anderson’s restaurant in baton rouge, la.

great place to eat. i have not been here since i lived in b r in the 80's.
i forgot how good it was. it is like a dons, but in better locations.
dons is great, but in the run down depressed ghetto part of north airline hwy. like going to bankok, you have to be brave to drive through that area.

i started out with a bloody mary. well made. delicious.
since i had not been there is such a long time, i had the smallseafoodplatter. i was not disappointed. it was great. everything on it was delicious.
stuffed shrimp and crap is a hit or miss thing in places that make them.
they are either real good or real bad.
these were real good. typical good cajun stuffing.
real crab meat stuffing and not fake or like some places, none.

even the fried catfish was addictive. the service was very good and we were seated right away.
i will go there again for sure.

overpriced and unflavorable. first time to visit mike andersons (sat 8/20) since their reopening in may. the new atmosphere is nice but thats where it stops. i have been going to mikes for 20+ years and i have to say this is no longer the same dining experience. the menu prices are much higher, and the quality of the food was much lower. quality was more like fast food than a baton rouge dining experience. my salad with house dressing tasted water down and my entree -fish stuffed with crabmeat and crawfish was undercooked and just plain bland. my date was also disapointed in the shrimp norman. again no flavor. my recommendation is to avoid mike anderson's overpriced menu and try louisiana lagniappe. prices are about the same but the quality is much higher. if you want good but less pricyseafoodmeals i might suggest the chimes or parrians on perkins.

hands down best in town. my passion is cooking so my wife and i usually cook at home but everyone likes to get out whether it's a special occasion or an lsu sporting event. it's la so of course there are many restaurant options and especiallyseafoodrestaurants around town. after trying all of the others in town, my wife and i choose anderson's because they're simply the overall best. #1 they are consistent - you know what you are getting. i like that i can entertain business guests and recommend a dish and know that i will not be embarrassed. i highly recommend the broiledseafoodplatter #2 we like that there are other options other than seafood. although i'm aseafoodlover i recommend their quail and steak. #3 it's a college town environment so you have the option of sitting in the very rustic cajun decorated bar or if you are looking for a little more personal space you can go to the dinning room - we prefer the bar. they also have that outside area that is called "something" porch. i can't remember the name but it reminds me of a south louisiana outdoor party on the bayou. the wait staff is good and we like that it's mostly made of hard working college kids that really hump it. so...great food and and all around "don't miss" if you are either visiting br or simply looking for an awesome meal. one last thing, coldest draft beer in town! that with the char-broiled oysters - watch out!
