disappointed!. i don't what has happened to this restaurant. my husband and i were traveling through baton rouge and i had been telling him about how wonderful mike andersons was. i have many fond memories of eating there with business associates and always have had excellent service and the food was never a disappointment. however, today was not the case. we arrived middle of afternoon, restaurantwas not busy. we were quickly seated and waitress was prompt. we order an appetizer and two entrees with salads. we waited about ten minutes and our entrees were delivered, along with our salads. we had not gotten our appetizer and was trying to tell our waitress, noelle, to forget the appetizer but a young waiter delivered the appetizer at that point. noelle acted like she did not know what to do and quickly left the table. did not ask if we needed any drinks or if we wanted any condiments to go with our meal. we both noticed the appetizer was served cold as well as our entrees. i waited for our waitress to return to see if we needed any condiments to go with our entrees, not the case. we had to flag down another waiter to ask him to tell our waitress we needed some assistance. as i said this has always been one of my favorite restaurants in louisiana, but today will be the last time i visit any mike anderson restaurant. sorry, but the food and the service was not worth the $100 we spent on what we were thinking would be a meal worth paying that price for. cold food, bad service, and waitress that didn't even seemed concerned that a customer was not happy! sad to say, but thisrestaurantis no longer on my list of great louisiana restaurants! it was that disappointing today!

before traveling to louisiana, i had two people highly recommend mike anderson’s. it is located in baton rouge, la. we were visiting baton rouge for a couple of days while on a business trip. i am so thrilled mike anderson’srestaurantwas recommended to us. it was one of the best seafood restaurants i have ever tried. check out their amazing menu. mike anderson’s has been around 35 years that tells me they can cook. when mike anderson started his restaurant, he knew he want his customers to get their money’s worth. he wanted everyone to leave therestaurantfull, have leftovers, and receive great service. my family and i experience all of this. we truly enjoyed our visit to mike anderson’srestaurantin baton rouge, la.

the nerve of them!. i ordered a $32 tbone steak. the menu said well done meant no pink. after recieving my steak eager for the experience because i've heard so much about therestauranti started cuting the edges first thats the best part to me. i looked down and the steak was rare. i waited another 10 minfor the waiter to come back so that he can take it back to the kitchen. when he came he took the steak back saying they will cook u a new one and this is what the manager of therestaurantcame back with. then she had "the nerve" to ask did i want a fresh potato to go with my steak

left a bad taste. my husband and i went to mike andersons last night for dinner,we had to wait too long to get service after we were sat, after our appetizer we had to ask for our salads and they were a big dissapointment, just some ice berg thrown in a bowl with a few cherry tom and croutons. arestaurantwith your rep should at least use some romaine, red cabbge and carrots, and then the vegetables that i ordered with the howard (drum) fish were worse than anything i've had, overcooked and unseasoned! to top it off the manager who was standing at the hostess stand didn.t acknowledge us in anyway when we left,no thank you, no how was everything, nothing, and we were the only ones in the area,it's not like he was busy!

never again . . .. wow! i guess i'll start 20 years or so ago when i last ate at mike anderson's and it was wonderful. since then i have moved around the country but retired to baton rouge a few years ago and could not wait to get back to anderson's. well after three trys (the 3rd was my last) i could not get a table. now i am a patient guy but when i am told the wait wil be 30 minutes and one hour later i am still on hold (3 times remember) i am done.

the staff is horrendous, to say the least they seem to have no order as to (keep in mind this same thing happend twice before) how they are seating diners. our last trip there we actully watched as people who came in 30 minutes after us and placed their name on the "list" were called at least 15 minutes before we left after an hour and fifteen minutes.

now as we left once again without being seated the parking lot was full of people waiting to get in so i am sure they will not miss my business. but i have been in the food service business too long to not know that thisrestaurantcan only survive so long on their past reputation. i for one would not go back there if the tab was being picked up by the house. this place is either run by people who think they are above good customer service or they are just plain idiots. with that said i guess either way they are idiots.

hands down best in town. my passion is cooking so my wife and i usually cook at home but everyone likes to get out whether it's a special occasion or an lsu sporting event. it's la so of course there are manyrestaurantoptions and especially seafood restaurants around town. after trying all of the others in town, my wife and i choose anderson's because they're simply the overall best. #1 they are consistent - you know what you are getting. i like that i can entertain business guests and recommend a dish and know that i will not be embarrassed. i highly recommend the broiled seafood platter #2 we like that there are other options other than seafood. although i'm a seafood lover i recommend their quail and steak. #3 it's a college town environment so you have the option of sitting in the very rustic cajun decorated bar or if you are looking for a little more personal space you can go to the dinning room - we prefer the bar. they also have that outside area that is called "something" porch. i can't remember the name but it reminds me of a south louisiana outdoor party on the bayou. the wait staff is good and we like that it's mostly made of hard working college kids that really hump it. so...great food and and all around "don't miss" if you are either visiting br or simply looking for an awesome meal. one last thing, coldest draft beer in town! that with the char-broiled oysters - watch out!

thisrestaurantwas fantastic. the service was great everything came in a timely manner and there was an obvious attention to detail not only in the service and atmosphere but the food was terrific. we had the bacon wrapped shrimp, oysters and the broiled platter. everything was to die for. the food was fresh and flavored to perfection. i will not come to baton rouge without stopping to eat at mike andersons.

softshell guitreaux. by special request the chef prepared a non menu item for me. soft shell crab covered in the guitreaux topping. absolutely to die for! i joked with my waiter and told them they should add it to the menu and name it after me. in all every time i have taken my family there the experience has been top notch. an absolute louisianarestaurantlegend.

good food, worst customer service in town. good food, horrendous customer service.
i recently went to mike anderson's for a special occasion with my family and it was ok until the waiter made one mistake and he let it snowball. and then the manager made it inexcusable.
they got my father's food order wrong, so they had to go back and make a new dish. since it took over 30 minutes for them to bring the new food, everybody else was done by that time. so then i kindly asked the waiter for a free appetizer or dessert since this was a family celebration and they made my father wait for so long. the waiter said he would consult with his manager. when he came back to our table he said that my father would get some free lemon pie. i thought it was weird that they did not give him a menu so that he could have a choice in the matter and so i asked the waiter about this. then he told us that my father was not only getting lemon pie and going to like it, he was going to get one slice of this pie. so of course, my father refused to accept this pathetic excuse for making up for the waiter's mistakes. my father even talked to the manager of therestaurantand the manager himself said that they just usually give their customers lemon pie and that there was "nothing else" that they could do.
then the waiter rang my father's ticket up incorrectly with an extra item. he fixed that too, but with no apologies.
overall, the food was good but overpriced. the atmosphere is mediocre,"meh" at best even with those aquariums. (even chinese buffets have those.)
i have seen far better, superior customer service at many other places that boasted far less in fast food places, chili's, joe's crab shack, olive garden etc. at least if you go to one of those places, they will treat you like a person and go out of their way to help you and make you feel appreciated as a customer. at mike anderson's from the lowly waiters up to the manager himself made my family and my father feel that they simply wanted us to pay our money and get out so they could get more customers and make more profit. i simply could not believe the way they treated us as customers, it was appallingly rude and horribly inconsiderate. mike anderson's is supposedly according to their website (and fans of the place confirm its boasts), "a baton rouge staple," with "fantastic regional food" and "a festive atmosphere". do you know where else has good food and a "festive atmosphere"? any decent bar or pub left in the town, which is what mike anderson's might as well be, its got the alchohol and the outdoor seating, all they need now is some neon lights and a couple big screen tvs. that way the staff can ignore you half the night whenever they want because they are just a bar and not a baton rouge staple or a louisiana tradition.
the mike a. website also says, "mike anderson's has earned its reputation for exceptional meals and pampering customers" and then the owner mike a. goes onto say,"when i started the company, i wanted to make sure that customers leave full and go home with leftovers. i wanted them to get their money's worth."
i can personally attest that this statement is no longer true. their customer service has gone down the drain completely.
in sum, i am completely disappointed with this restaurant. if you go there, do not have any expectations of good customer service or a courteous and friendly staff because they simply do not do that anymore. (especially do not go there for a special occassion with family or friends because not one of the staff there will go out of their way to make you feel welcome or make your special evening feel nice or relaxed or fun.) it is a cheap and hollow and fruitless experience and you might as well go somewhere else for a good time.
