eh...had a show to go to at 6:30. reservations were at 5 and we were sat by 4:50, so far so good. ordered drinks, apps, then our food, which didn't come til 6:05-6:10! ate the quickest meal ever and ran to the show, which our waitress knew about prior to ordering. food was just ok but not one apology or visit by the manager. there are too many other nicer places to go...

the atmosphere was very nice and welcoming, the food was pretty good from a chef with a good reputation and the location was great. i just don't get why there were open tables the whole time we were there, thi

great place doing great things.. with great people to boot. the few members of the staff i spoke with were all very friendly and engaging.
disclaimer: i went on a non-theater night, and sat at the bar. so i can't comment how they handle being packed, or how the service is at the tables.
but the service my brother and i received at the bar was fantastic. they had hudson's manhattan rye...i'd never had it before, so i was going to try it anyway, but i asked about it. one of the bar staff said he often substitutes it for maker's mark. good lord, i hope he was confused. that stuff was terrible. glad i was able to try it at a bar...i'd be mad if i had bought a bottle of that swill. anywho...
i ordered the bone marrow, because well...i've never had it before, and..i just had to. the verdict? well...even from a hardcore fat-o-phile such as myself, spooning straight fat onto bread is pushing it. it's a cool presentation and would be great to order for a party of 4 or more. but i ate maybe one bones' worth. now i can say i've had bone marrow. yay for me.
my pub burger was awesome. the egg is fried perfectly and the pork belly is very tasty. my brother ordered the chorizo burger and seemed to like it. one issue...we both ordered our burgers medium-rare. his came out medium...mine rare. the fact that neither of us minded the mistake is a testament to the quality of the ingredients and preparation otherwise.
given its location, its yuppie and greying clientele, it shoudn't be shocking that the place is kind of expensive.
two apps, two burgers, 2 cocktails, 1 wine, 1 beer= $106.
but let me be clear, this place is very cool. the menu is packed with dishes everyone likes, just taken to a much more refined and sophisticated level. i need to try the mac n' cheese...every person i know that's been here said it was fantastic.
i also look forward to trying the barrel-aged manhattan when it's ready in a few weeks.
can't wait to go back. great place.

the term gasropub was first used in the early 90's to characterize a pub (read bar) that serves more than the traditional pub fare; a restaurant in a bar rather than the more common bar in a restaurant. that's exactly what m+p is, foodie39 you're an idiot.

unbelievable. people say first impressions are important. well, this new restaurant is a stroke of genius from the owner of nine on nine. there were 4 of us and we decided to order a number of 'snacks' and 'appetizers'. snacks are smaller and the appetizers are larger in portion. lobster risotto, duck liver, tuna, brussel sprouts which i hate but loved this creation. everything was incredibly well executed with great flavors.

then came the rib eye steak. there are frankly no words for a steak that comes to you on it's own cutting board, freshly cut by the folks in the kitchen. they give you the entire rib, which is around 15 or so inches with a 24 ounce steak attached to it. it was one of the best pieces of meat i have ever had.

the restaurant was very busy but the service was fantastic.

it's about time pittsburgh has a gastro pub with the focus on amazing tastes and flavors. chef rick has out done his previous place (nine on nine) with meat and potatoes. this is the kind of food we as a consumer market must demand to further the pittsburgh food scene

i made reservations for a tuesday night and we were promptly seated. the place has a great atmosphere but the tables are pretty tight together. we started off with mac n cheese for an appetizer. it was absolutely delicious. i then ordered the plain jane burger and my date had the pot pie. everything was phenomenal! i would recommend this place to everyone!

food good--beware of the local beers. good upscale pub food at a reasonable price. the local beers are are too floral for my palate.

nice eclectic raw space. i started with the mussels in coconut lemon grass sauce.... ..very good. the heirloom tomato salad was tasty. lastly i had the salmon with pineapple and red chili sauce which was savory. wine and drink list were nice... wine was also available in stemware for affectionados. meat & potatoes is like your mothers home cooked food, but better because this mother went to culinary school!

if you want a big juicy burger that’s guaranteed to get your arms messy up to your elbows then this isn’t the place for you.

won't be going back. my husband and i were seated at the tiniest table in the world in the bar area. several waiters passed by, one even asking the table on top of us if everything was okay. we waited several more minutes, looking over the menu and hoping for at least a glass of water. after five more minutes of not even being acknowledged, we looked at each other and said, "let's go". walked up to sonoma and had a wonderful meal as always!!

the first time i went to meat & potatoes, i had a ball. the service was great, the food seemed great, the drinks…a little too great. i got tipsy. not sloppy fall-down drunk, just buzzed enough to render my memories of the evening a little hazy. i went with a big group of friends and i left feeling happy and satisfied. i felt i should go a second time for the review. amy joined me for my do-over dinner. we approached our weekday dinner with much enthusiasm and only the best intentions. this review is of that second experience at meat and potatoes. which is worse? swatting fruit flies from your wine as you wait for 60 minutes for your dinner? or figuring out that your dinner is probably an abbreviated version of the one that was promised? or maybe the worst thing is finally getting the guts to speak to the floor manager about the problems of your experience, only to find that he wasn't listening whatsoever? welcome to meat & potatoes. i'm having trouble figuring how t

get some wine glasses!. food was good as was service. but for wine by the glass that costs $8-$20 it should not be served in a tumbler! if you're a real wine lover, get a cocktail instead!

i tried their 'meat and potatoes', it's a bone-in ribeye for two served on a cutting board w mash potatoes and mushrooms. i thought it was cooked perfectly as requested (medium rare) and i thought it was super delicious! very tender and flavorful. unique in that it comes out as a big hunk of meat for two and it up to the eater to carve it up and share w your partner. great entree for meat lovers. we probably finished a little over half before we threw in the towel. i haven't tried other menu items but i would highly recommend this one.
