blech. this outpost of the portland original is not fresh, slathered in over-processed gunky sauces and your dishes will often come out cold.

meh. not so fresh - corporate seafood and a far cry from the portland mothership. if you're staying in the westin go across the street to the bistro for some real food.

really beat the reviews. have to say, after reading some of the most recent reviews, i was skeptical to say the least. they stepped up their game last night for sure. from the front door to the check, everyone was very pleasant and welcoming.my date and i enjoyed everything from their bacon and bleu chop salad to our entrees; she had sea scallops with tomato/basil risotto, i had their special filet and shrimp scampi. our server jason mentioned a basil cocktail that i didn't get, but i definitely will give it a try next time. was more in a wine mood. had the gascon malbec instead. tasty and went well with my entree, too. really thankful they had a strong night and maybe they've listened to the feedback and fixed the issue. we'll see next time.

bad treatment, rushed, food ok. nye. i had (2) $50 vouchers. was told, when the $79 bill arrived, that the vouchers were "use or lose", no change or credit. i said to put the unused $21 towards the tip, and was told no by both the waitress and the manager. i left the $21 remaining on the voucher and $5, which is $26 above the $79 bill. i was treated like a deadbeat who stiffed the waitress and sneered at by the manager as we left. 2nd bad experience. never again.

ultimate failure of 2011. i am not one who likes to complain about restaurants since i have worked in the industry for over 8 years. however, my experience at mccormick & schmick's downtown was beyond terrible! my date and i went to eat dinner at about 9:00pm. hoping to enjoy ourselves on the first evening of the new year. when we sat we where approached by our sever who didn't even tell us her name. after about 10 minutes we were given bread...the bread wasn't even room temp. it was like they pulled it out of the refrigerator. about 5 minutes later we got our entrees. i ordered the seafood pasta, and my date got the calamari and risotto. my pasta was not served with a spoon and i had to wait until our server walked by so i could ask her for one, with a confused look on her face she brought me one. the calamari was decent, i tried a piece, but after he ate the top few pieces he noticed that there was about 1/4" of oil in the bottom of the bowl!! the calamari that was on the bottom was completely soaked in oil...uneatable! the risotto was also terrible, it was way over cooked and bland. it wouldn't surprise me if all they did to prepare it was cook it in water and then add basil and romas before sending it out, no salt, no pepper. but, to top it all off!!!! after contemplating for about 10 minutes if i should say anything to the manager, mike, i waved him over and told him about all the oil in the bottom of the calamari bowl...his response was "well it is deep fried" really? i mean...really? i truly believe that my money would have been better spent at joe's crab shack...or long john silver's...even their deep fried food doesn't come with complementary oil residing at the bottom of the container. it was just failure piling on top of failure!

happy hour only. i like m&s but only during their happy hour. i've had a lunch and dinner there and have been disappointed both times. i've been to their happy hour multiple times where i've tried a number of different small dishes. the food there was great and small and cheap enough to get a tasting. highly recommend the 5-7 time slot.

6/10. the location is ideal - right in the heart of cincinnati at fountain square. the restaurant looks nice as it has a dark wood and green decor - sort of a classy new england look.

the service was good. our waiter was knowledgeable and made recommendations.

for appetizer, we got an order of the spicy tuna sushi rolls and the portobello fries. the sushi was okay - i've had better at standard asian restaurants. the portobello fries were delicious. they were slices of portobello mushrooms tempura fried and served with a horseradish-mustard dip. as a side note, i on my second bite i burnt my tongue pretty bad, which put a damper on the rest of the meal, but that was my own fault.

for my entree i got the "casino style" swordfish. it was a swordfish steak stuffed with bacon and crab on a bed of wilted spinach. i thought the tastes didn't blend well. the swordfish was done fine, but the sauce was a thin butter/grease concoction that added nothing to the plate. the dish tasted bland and uninspired.

my girlfriend got the ahi tuna, which essentially was just seared tuna slices. you can't really go wrong with raw tuna, and while i wasn't terribly fond of the seasoning they used in the sear, it was okay. the california rolls that came with it were the worst i've ever had.

for dessert we got the mocha creme brulee, which was tasty. i'll have to also give them points on the fresh squeezed lemonade and arnold palmer's we got.

overall, pretty good but nothing spectacular. the prices were a bit steep for the food offered, but not outrageous.

pricey, but gooood!. this place will set you back quite a bit, but the food is pretty damn good. i've only been there twice, but both times were fantastic. the seafood was perfectly prepared and seasoned, and not overcooked - something that you will not find at your average red shlobster. save up your paychecks and take your date out for a nice meal. the service may be slow, but the food should make up for it.

late night cheap eats. don't know if they are still doing it, but 2009 summer they had a late-night (after 9pm) menu with all kinds of reeeeeally cheap food. and the portions were not smaller. after a play at the arronoff, 4 of us went there and we had more food that could fit on our table and drinks and i thinkk we paid something like $26, it was insane. we assumed the portions would be smaller, we were wrong. if they are still doing this, i highly urge you to go!

m&s is a seafood restaurant. they have fresh catch every day and have special menu items based on that. this means their menu varies from day-to-day and from location-to-location - but you know it's fresh! m&s is right across from fountain square and ther

this is my favorite cincinnati restaurant for special occasions. the happy hour menu is both inexpensive and delicious. the dinner menu always features fresh, delicious, well-prepared and attractively served entrees. my favorite item - oysters rockefeller- the best and freshest in town. went here for mother's day dinner with a group of 5 and everyone raved about the food, atmosphere, & service.

let me begin by stating that i do not eat seafood. i know there are vegetarians who dabble in seafood but i am not one of them. because of that simple fact, i’d never bothered visiting mccormick & schmick’s even though it is an easy walk from my office.

good happy hour prices. the restaurant's happy hour (4-6 m-f) bar menu is worth trying. they offer around 15 items ranging in price from $1.95 to $4.95, and the portion sizes are astonishing.

there are a couple of vegetarian-friendly items on the bar menu too, which is always a plus for me.
