never again. went there today with my family walked in a little before 1:00, didn't get menus or drinks until almost 1:30. one waitress bussed thetablebehind us yet refused to look at us even though i tried to get her attention. finally got a waitress and two menus were hastily shoved at atableof five people we placed our order of an irish nachos appetizer, two gary's, a leprechaun dip, a blue cheese burger, and a buffalo chicken sandwich. it took another hour for our appetizer to arrive. it was just ok, the sauce served with it was just very odd. our lunch finally arrived. both gary's were over cooked and very dry; the bread on one was actually burnt, the leprechaun dip was also dry and very salty the pasta salad side wasn't very good either. the chicken sandwich and burger were just alright. then to top it all off i got a refill of mr pibb and it tasted musty. when i complained to the waitress about it she was polite but really just shrugged it off with an oh well attitude. never going back again.

i really miss mc k's tavern. i moved out of daytona and have yet to find anyplace nearly as good as mc k's especially for their corned beef and cabbage dinners. also, their servers worked as a team! any employee walking past ourtablefulfilled our request asap. the very best irish restaurant and tavern.

not for the 1 hr lunch break.. i went here today with my family who are visiting from out of state. we were one of 2 tables inside and 1tableoutside who were already eating. the food was great, prices are ok, but it took 1 hour for our food to come to the table. i kid you not. so if you have the time for a long leisurely lunch break then go ahead and enjoy. but those of you on a strict 1 hr , maybe call in your order ahead of time.

the ugly truth. i used to frequent mckay's often but the manager there is very sarcastic and unfriendly. he has no clue how to treat his customers. the last three times i went there he managed to ruin my night.

the first time i ran into a problem with mckay's was on st patrick's day. i went to mckay's with some friends to celebrate. the place was packed and it seemed like everyone was having a good time. to this day i am not sure why this happened, but the manager kept coming over and accusing me of banging on the table. i told him twice that he was mistaken and it wasn't me who was making the noise. he didn't believe me and told me that if he heard the noise again he would have to ask me and my friends to leave.

now, prior to this, i used to go to mckay's every couple of weeks and never had a problem with anyone who worked there. the staff was friendly and the drinks were good. i was very happy. on average i was spending about $100.00 every time i came in. so i was pretty upset that he talked to me like that. i didn't appreciate that he spoke to me like i was 5 years old and he embarrassed me in front of my friends.

some of my friends had never been there before and i was telling them earlier that day that we should go to mckay's for st. patrick's day. i promised them that they would have the best time. then that happened and i felt very insulted. i figured that because it was st. patrick's day maybe he was just stressed and had a lot on his mind so i blew it off.

the next time i went to mckay's my brother was visiting from england. he has always liked magners cider so i told him that mckay's had it on draft. when we got there we order a pitcher of magners and my brother took a sip. he looked at me and said, 'this cider is either old or its flat.'

so we brought it to the attention of our server and she had the manager come over to talk to us. he came to ourtablewith a sample of the magners and drank it in front of us and said, "it tastes fine to me" my brother looked at me in disbelief.

think about it, my brother lives in england, and drinks cider on a regular basis. he had a complaint about the cider and the manager's response was to make us think we didn't know what we were talking about.

that really made my brother upset and he told the manager that he drinks magners all the time and that it did not taste right. the manager argued with him for a minute and realized that my brother wasn't backing down so he apologized and walked away from our table. needless to say our experience was not a good one. my brother couldn't wait to leave because he was insulted.

after those two experiences i decided never to go back to mckay's. i figured there are plenty of places that would love to earn my business and will treat me with the respect i deserve. so i did for about a year and then my youngest brother turned 21 and wanted to go to mckay's for his birthday.

i thought to myself that i really don't want to go but it is my brother's birthday and he should be able to have his 21st birthday bash anywhere he wants.

so i reluctantly called mckay's and told them that i was going to have ten people come in that night for my brother 21st birthday. i asked them if they did anything special or fun there to celebrate. the person i spoke with on the phone sounded confused that i even asked her that question and said, "no we don't."

i was already going into this party with a let down. so i said that's ok we will be in anyway. we got there around 7:00 and we order our food and drinks. the waitress was fantastic. the food was very good and the magners still tasted flat. the food did take a while to come out but we didn't care, we were mostly there to drink. the whole night we were there we had no problem and really enjoyed ourselves until my brother drank too much and was not feeling good. he decided to put his head on thetableto rest a few minutes. the waitress got him some water and he was on his way to sobering up.

a few minutes later the manager walks by and sees this and told him that, "he can't lay his head down in here. if he's not feeling good he needs to go outside."

just as i thought that mckay's may have redeemed themselves this idiot manager once again ruined our night. the bill came to $540.00 dollars i tipped the waitress 25% because she was on the ball all night.

after putting up with the rudeness of this manager on three separate occasions, i have no desire to go back to mckay's. it's a shame too because i really like the atmosphere and wait staff. i refuse to spend my hard earned money on a place who doesn't appreciate or care about there clientele.

the day management is changed at mckay's is the day that i will become a loyal customer again until then i have several other options in town where i can drink cider and have fun with my family and friends without being embarrassed, insulted or mistreated

cheers,
