bring it as it is fired?. the food isgoodbut when i order steak and asparagus i would like to eat them together not the veggies then meat or vice versa. any cook knows that the hardest part of a meal is getting everything done together, can you imagine sitting down to thanksgiving and being given the potatoes but having to wait for the turkey and gravy? me either!

it'sgoodbut over-rated. the food tastes great the restaurant is beautiful. those are huge pluses. but when i want breakfast i want a plate of breakfast. not some deconstructed tapas style breakfast dish. they have all the right components of something great but the final result is compartmentalized and unfinished. for most the design touches make up for the lack of finesse with respect to the food delivery. however if you look past the sizzle and see the steak for what it is... it's just a small cut cooked well and it's missing all the trimmings. i want to love it badly as i love the setting but i have to look at thegoodas this is about food first, not just atmosphere.

the lure of chef david lefevre's by now infamous bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuits at mb post was near irresistible - but the 'long' drive from the sfv (when i had to do a valley to west la commute 5 days a week already) curbed my foodie cravings...until a few weeks ago, when my brunch lovin' friend curses reminded me just how long this has been on our to do list. so we made the trek down - and the 'tagline of "a social house" is very appropriate - the sunlit dining room was upscale yet very laid back, with a 'neighborhood gem' vibe - though of course the place is by now very well known - and there was a long communal table for those open to making new friends. for us of course the bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuits ($5, 2 biscuitsper order) were our first order of business!  they definitely lived up to the hype - buttery, flaky mounds of cheesy, salty, bacon-y deliciousness taken over the top in agoodway by the lightness maple butter. mb post also has a great craft cocktail selection

gustatory. whatevergoodhas been said about the dining establishment, i support it. the ambience, wait staff, menu, small plates for sharing theme, charlie trotter influence, cocktail finesse, make for an outstanding dining pleasure.

mb post is one of the rare l.a. restaurants doing brunch right. the credit can go to acclaimed chef david lefevre - a charlie trotter-protege who recently left downtown's water grill in favor of the south bay. all of the homey comforts you'd expect from brunch are still there, just executed with inspiration to create a great small plates menu by a chef and team who aren't just phoning it in. if brunch is this good, it's scary to wonder howgooddinner could be.
