mb post serves the best brunch in manhattan beach, and that was unanimous among all my friends who live in la or visit manhattanbeachoften. the restaurant has a cool and  and relaxed vibe but both service and food and very good. their signature bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuits are worth the drive to mb but the rest of the food is excellent as well.

mb post is located in manhattanbeachin a former post office.  i love buildings that are "repurposed." just to give it that fall feeling, a hay bale and a couple of squash were on hand for us to sit on while we waited.  :) it's a bit hard to see due to the lighting, but you can see how they tried to retain the character of the original building.  there were so

one of my new favorite spots in west la is manhattanbeachpost in manhattan beach. with a post office industrial sort of vibe, mb post was the concept of chef david lefevre, the chef who earned watergrill its michelin star. what’s so great about it? well, everything pretty much. it’s a “social house”, meaning, it has fresh farm-to-table dishes for sharing, artisanal beer, hand-crafted cocktails, great selection of wine, and most importantly, a gorgeous view of the beach. what’s not to love?!

m.b. post is built to socialize. it’s even in the restaurant’s name “m.b. post – a social house.” there are high-rise communal tables in the front of the bar, and then longer cafeteria like tables in the main room. the warm wood furnishings and funky décor give it a cozy feel, and the buzz from the constant crowds keep things feeling sociable. when visiting my sister in marina del rey, i kept most of my dining to the west side of the los angeles area. for sunday brunch, we stayed along thebeachand headed south to m.b. post, a rustic but sophisticated dining spot by chef/co-owner david lefevre, who has worked at fine-ding establishments like water grill and charlie trotters. artisan small plates but at m.b. post, lefevre has created a daily-changing menu that emphasizes artisan ingredients presented in the california-style of simple and seasonal. this could easily be an extension of the chez panisse school of cooking. we ordered sides of turkey sausage patty ($

our first stop in our california adventure was brunch at m.b. post. trying to find a restaurant that five people can agree on is no easy task, but manhattanbeachpost left all of us with full stomachs and happy faces. the restaurant looks like a modern cabin and the food is served family/tapas style.   we started off with a bunch of breads & sweets. we got their bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuits (naturally) and they were fan-fuckin-tastical. the biscuits come served with maple butter and somehow that butter ended up on every single dish we tried, just fuhmazing.  we tried their sticky bun that comes topped with pecans and brown sugar #skeetskeet . just wow (especially with some of that maple butter slathered on it). we also got some weiser farm potatoes served with fried sage and homemade lemon buttermilk ranch dressing. bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuits with maple butter sticky bun weiser farm potatoes we then moved onto our individual dishes. i had their eggs benedict that comes o

the last week of june, i spent in la and san diego. one of the best restaurant experiences i had during that trip was at manhattanbeachpost . the day was beautiful, with lots of sunshine streaming down upon us and a slight ocean breeze as we arrived at manhattan beach. after our dinner of lots of small plates and some cocktails, we had a walk to aid our digestion along manhattanbeachpier. the restaurant, also known as m.b. post,  was just opening for its dinner service as we arrived, with the front windowed walls thrown open to take in the summer weather, and the wood with modern metal frames throughout the restaurant gave off a beachy chic while touches of nostalgia were brought in with multiple post boxes and the menu delivered in an envelope like a mail package.   we started out with their infamous bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuits with maple butter. they are worth the hype, warm, gooey with cheese inside and speckled with bits of delicious salty bacon and everything was gone fr

manhattanbeachmight possibly be the bestbeachin all of los angeles. yeah, malibu is where it’s at if you are rich and famous, but besides nice cars and huge houses, you aren’t left witch much. i guess manhattanbeachis unique in that it is a greatbeachtown. with much to see from shopping and unique eateries, thebeachhas grown to be one of my favorite destinations. just to make thisbeacheven more sweet, they have m.b. post. more of a hang out spot than a sit down restaurant, m.b. post is hip and relaxed. chef and ownder david lefevre started off cooking as a child helping his mom. after working in various restaurants, lefevre enrolled at the notable culinary institute of america. from then, he worked at renowned restaurants in las vegas and chicago. he then traveled to france and hone his classical skills in some of the world’s most distinguished kitchens. he traveled to different countries like singapore, bangkok, stockholm, and tokyo to diversify his spectrum. lefevre was r

mb post, the short form of manhattanbeachpost, has been a buzzing los angeles area restaurant for several months. a modern american gastro pub, this david lefevre helmed establishment reportedly packs them in on a nightly basis; so during the la stop of my west coast tour, i made it a point to take flipper for a ride to see what the chatter was all about.
