mb post was the unanimous suggestion for where to go in manhattan beach, and as i drooled over the pictures on instagram, it seemed like the idealbrunchspot – and it was! their bacon scones are worth flying to la for and their staff goes through intensive training and tests, which results in friendly and enthusiastic service. a perfect place for some absolutely delicious food. their fried chicken is also insanely good.

mb post serves the bestbrunchin manhattan beach, and that was unanimous among all my friends who live in la or visit manhattan beach often. the restaurant has a cool and  and relaxed vibe but both service and food and very good. their signature bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuits are worth the drive to mb but the rest of the food is excellent as well.

our first stop in our california adventure wasbrunchat m.b. post. trying to find a restaurant that five people can agree on is no easy task, but manhattan beach post left all of us with full stomachs and happy faces. the restaurant looks like a modern cabin and the food is served family/tapas style.   we started off with a bunch of breads & sweets. we got their bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuits (naturally) and they were fan-fuckin-tastical. the biscuits come served with maple butter and somehow that butter ended up on every single dish we tried, just fuhmazing.  we tried their sticky bun that comes topped with pecans and brown sugar #skeetskeet . just wow (especially with some of that maple butter slathered on it). we also got some weiser farm potatoes served with fried sage and homemade lemon buttermilk ranch dressing. bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuits with maple butter sticky bun weiser farm potatoes  we then moved onto our individual dishes. i had their eggs benedict that comes o

the lure of chef david lefevre's by now infamous bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuits at mb post was near irresistible - but the 'long' drive from the sfv (when i had to do a valley to west la commute 5 days a week already) curbed my foodie cravings...until a few weeks ago, when mybrunchlovin' friend curses reminded me just how long this has been on our to do list. so we made the trek down - and the 'tagline of "a social house" is very appropriate - the sunlit dining room was upscale yet very laid back, with a 'neighborhood gem' vibe - though of course the place is by now very well known - and there was a long communal table for those open to making new friends. for us of course the bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuits ($5, 2 biscuitsper order) were our first order of business!  they definitely lived up to the hype - buttery, flaky mounds of cheesy, salty, bacon-y deliciousness taken over the top in a good way by the lightness maple butter. mb post also has a great craft cocktail selection

mb post is one of the rare l.a. restaurants doingbrunchright. the credit can go to acclaimed chef david lefevre - a charlie trotter-protege who recently left downtown's water grill in favor of the south bay. all of the homey comforts you'd expect frombrunchare still there, just executed with inspiration to create a great small plates menu by a chef and team who aren't just phoning it in. ifbrunchis this good, it's scary to wonder how good dinner could be.
