great "local" pizza place!. after a visit to the ga aquarium & world of coca-cola, my family was in the mood for pizza & decided to trymax'safter reading urban spoon reviews.max'sis a pizza place for the "locals" about two blocks from the aquarium. great atmosphere but not fancy - just the way we like it! had the garlic knots (bread "knots" dipped in garlic & baked) - delicious appetizer. my wife & i shared a wonderful garden salad with amazing house balsamic dressing. our pizza wasmax'straditional with pepperoni & sausage, which was wonderful in every way - very flavorful. we would recommendmax'shighly & will eat there again our next trip to atlanta. oh, if you visit max's, if you park in the paid parking lot directly across the street from the restaurant, max'swill validate your parking. enjoy!

the pizza here is delicious! we are from out of town and came here for a late lunch after visiting the georgia aquarium which is only a few blocks away. after 1:00 pm on thursday the restaurant was about half full. so we were seated right away and didn't have to wait long for the food. we were all pleased with the service. a 12 inch pizza was plenty to share between 2 people. we had themax'sveggie and added italian sausage which had a nice kick to it. garden salad for $5 was a good portion. i probably could have just eaten that for a light lunch.

the pizza atmax'swas an excellent new york-style pizza, the kind with slices you had to fold over to keep them from flopping over. the coal oven slightly charred the crust and toppings in places, which i found to give the pizza a really good rustic flavor. if you are in downtown atlanta, this is a good choice if you like thin-crust pizza.

evening meal. visiting a few days in the area and discovered max's. arrived around 7 pm on sunday to find few customers, so order and delivery were quick. my daughter ordered spaghetti; it had too much parmesan cheese and created bitter effect, so that my daughter who absolutely loves it did not eat very much. also, no bread to "sop" with. my husband and i ordered caesar salad and 16" pizza. both were delightful. salad was very fresh and quite tasty. the pizza was made to order (i thoroughly enjoyed watching the
baker toss the dough). the pizza was flavorful with soft and crispy crust. my family and i would definitely recommendmax'sfor the pizza and salad. bon appetite!

wow.max'spizza equals god. no other pizza place in atlanta is even comparable in my opinion. you can't get coal oven pizza anywhere else in atlanta and i doubt friti's toppings come close.

great experience. during an 8-hour layover at atl on our way back to los angeles, my bf and i decided to hop on the (extremely convenient) marta and explore the city.

we hit peachtree, which was, besides the tourists (oh god that was us too, oops) at olympic park and the aquarium, a ghost town.

we'd been up since about 4 am, and i made us miss our plane from raleigh (tee-hee), so we were both a little irritable, a bit tired, and extremely exhausted.

wanting to avoid chains, we stumbled onto max's, thought it closed (but clearly we were just to tired to really open the door) and our entire attitude and outlook on life transitioned in that very moment.

the entire staff, including some guests, greeted us. everyone was jovial, cute, and knowledegable about the area, the menu, the city, and interested in our day.

hank, our waiter (who also pulled us into the restaurant when we thought it closed) was amazing. he offered us great recommendations, was super chill and yet engaging and charming. the pizza was comparable to the best of la and nyc (from two boots to mozza), and the portions were perfect.

we eat out often in la - a town full of culinary excellence and culinary attitude.max'scuisine and excellent service would not only compare out here, but would likely thrive.

not that everything should compare to la....typical ethnocentric entertainment guy. geez.

concentrics can't do pizza. they are rushing all their recent restaurants. they just don't get it right anymore. piebar failed andmax'swill fail. just go to rosa's a couple blocks away, grab a bottle of wine at publix and save $75. max couldn't hold fritti's jock and still atlanta has the fewest decent pizza places of all the major cities in the u.s.
