max's coal oven pizza

great food. my wife and i are in atlanta for the week. we ate here last night then came back again tonight. it is an easy 3 block walk from the omni hotel. the pizza is wonderful. the chicken parmesan is super. very friendly staff. both nights we ate outside in perfect weather. go try it. you'll be glad you did!

yummy pizza near the georgia aquarium! great place for kids!. i took my girl scout troop here because it was close to the aquarium. we had a terrific experience! the staff was very friendly. the "pie slinger" even took the time to tell the girls all about the coal oven, and how the pizza is made. the girls loved that when a pizza comes out, they yell "hot pie!" the girls loved yelling it along with the pie slinger. a very enjoyable kid friendly place to eat! we will definitely go back next time we're in the area.

we were in vacation in atlanta and read the reviews on this place and decided to give it a try. the garlic knots could have used a little more garlic but the pizzas were amazing! i definitely reccomend the veggie and the meaty pizza. great atmosphere and excellent staff.

loved!!! this place was best pizza ever! food, beer and sangria’s were amazing! service was pretty good... but it seems like they stay busy so be prepared to wait a minute or two.. food is totally worth the wait!!!!!!!!!! i wish we had one in my town!!!!!!!!! loved!

food was great. very flavorful and fresh. service was not great at all. do not be in a hurry. we were not but they appeared to be short staffed and wait staff was very agitated. maybe they were having a bad night after a long weekend.

visited the restaurant after visiting the college football hall of fame and had a great experience. the restaurant is situated a short walk from centennial olympic park and the aquarium. they have a lovely outdoor eating space. upon walking inside, we were greeted immediately. the decor is on point, with a mix of industrial-chic. the service was prompt and friendly. we ordered a garden salad and a pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and green peppers. the salad was only $6.00 and all the ingredients were so fresh. there was enough for us to have two servings each. the pizza was 12", 6 slices, and it was the best pizza i've had in atlanta (and i've been here for 15 years). the ingredients were fresh, the sauce was robust, and the crust was perfect. the crust was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. definitely worth every penny, plus some. definitely recommend.

excellent pizza in a friendly atmosphere. specialty pizzas offer something for every taste preference. an inviting decor that allows you a view of the staff as they craft your pizza.

my wife and i had lunch here and were very pleased with food and service

the salads were large and tasty while the pizza was outstanding. coal or wood, doesn't matter which to me; but, a pizza cooked in a "fire" oven is a whole different game than a standard pizza oven. there is a char and smoke flavor that raises dough, sauce, cheese, and meat to a higher plane.

will definitely go back when we are next in atlanta.

since none of us was up for pizza, we couldn't attest to the signature offerings, but a glance at the rather limited menu suggests a good assortment of meats (sausage, pepperoni, capicola, salami) and cheeses (mozzarella, fontina, parmesan, feta, goat) at slightly high ($15- to $19 for a 12-inch pie) prices.

instead, we all opted for the $10 salad and half sandwich combo. the italian sandwich was satisfying albeit a bit heavy on the hot peppers while the caesar salad, though basic, tasted fresh and hit the spot. the ambiance was lively and comfortable, and service proved adequate.

though it is not a standout eatery, you could do far worse than max's.

we had greca pizza, sangria & beer.

pizza was good, sangria not to my like (tasted heavily of pomengrate). very convenient location, reasonably prized and ok service.

only disappointment was that they sat us on a recently cleared table and as a result we had to keep asking for accompaniments :(

soggy pizza. this was my first and last time trying it. the crust was soggy and the ingredients kept falling off the the crust! and there was no tomatoe sauce on the darn pizza! big chunks of fetta cheese not melted......yuck! my server was horrible. i will never go back nor do i recommend anyone eat there. pizza hut is better

casual but sophisticated atmosphere. awesome service. great drinks from bar. pizza was ready in under 10 minutes and was very delicious. crust was thin and the perfect level of crunchy. great experience with great food.

amazing..... daughter and i went here as we wanted a place close to our hotel. we had lemon garlic wings which we truly perfect! then we ordered peperoni pizza and it was some of the best pizza we've had and we consider ourselves pizza connoisseurs and we loved this pizza. the service and atmosphere were fantastic as well. wish we lived in atlanta....we will definitely be back to visit any opportunity we get.

max's wings are awesome. i was in atlanta for 2 days april 2014 and had to have the amazing wings and garlic yogurt sauce 3 times....lunch, dinner, lunch. grilled wings and dry-rub spices are perfect. i so wish there was one in the fort lauderdale area!
