the pizza at max's was an excellent new york-style pizza, the kind with slices you had to fold over to keep them from flopping over. the coal oven slightly charred the crust and toppings in places, which i found to give the pizza a really good rustic flavor. if you are in downtown atlanta, this is a good choice if you like thin-crust pizza.

tried to get into this place on saturday night and the wait was an hour so we and the family had to pass, but we came back for lunch on sunday!! wow i can honestly say this was some of the best pizza i've ever had!! great choice for a family with kids too. the pizza crust was cooked to perfection and the toppings were incredibly fresh and tasty. fast service too! highly recommend!!

i love this place. i'm not the largest pizza fan (especially of thin crust new york style) but i love it. great date spot.

great pizza, ok staff. me and my friends visited there labor day. it was nice to find something open with tasty eats. we ordered the bianca. loved the crust and everything about the pizza. our waiter was nice initially and then, he wasn't. i don't know, bad day...or maybe someone who looked like they would tip more showed up? i don't know but it was strange.

evening meal. visiting a few days in the area and discovered max's. arrived around 7 pm on sunday to find few customers, so order and delivery were quick. my daughter ordered spaghetti; it had too much parmesan cheese and created bitter effect, so that my daughter who absolutely loves it did not eat very much. also, no bread to "sop" with. my husband and i ordered caesar salad and 16" pizza. both were delightful. salad was very fresh and quite tasty. the pizza was made to order (i thoroughly enjoyed watching the
baker toss the dough). the pizza was flavorful with soft and crispy crust. my family and i would definitely recommend max's for the pizza and salad. bon appetite!

still pretty good. this is our second time coming here. our first was around 2009 and they had not been open long. we got a sausage and crimini pie and it was delicious. the tomato sauce is very tangy, maybe too tangy for some, very concentrated tomato flavor. the mushrooms were good and not watery. the sausage was very good, lots of fennel, and not in huge chunks like last time, much more manageable to eat. we didn't get anything else on the menu but did enjoy our pizza a lot. nice burn on the bottom. liquor selection could be expanded a little.

outstanding! fresh tomato flavor in the sauce...super thin, crispy crust, & fresh parmesan ( the real stuff!). chicken sandwich was delightful with lots of arugula, roasted red peppers and aioli. very reasonable and fast...definitely goes on the fave list for atlanta.

good thin crust. the pizza comes on a thin almost cracker-like and slightly burnt crust. a salty, flavorful tomato sauce gives the solid foundation for ingredients that are more scattered than layered. less fatty, cheesy, or chewy and much closer to pies i had in italy than the overwhelming majority of pies you can get in the south.

best pizza south of the mason dixon line honestly, it's pretty decent. beer selection was ok, and it's a good family atmosphere. the bianco and the sausage and goat cheese pies were excellent. flavor of the crust is really good, but it's not quite as chewy as an authentic brooklyn pie. it's also an old-school type of coal oven, where the coals sit at the same slab as the pizza (as opposed to underneath). it's a double-edged sword: you get the crispiness, but it adds some extra flavor. definitely not objectionable.
