max's at red hill estate

perfect service, perfect good, perfect view. i have been here a couple of times before, but today i took visiting friends from sydney. the sun shone, the food was divine and we had the loveliest server - emma. three of my visitors said it was simply the best meal of their life. what else can we say? it was full to capacity but we weren't rushed, we savoured the courses and the matched wines and it was quite simply perfect. love love love max's!!!!

schnapper was on menu which is what we ordered turned out to be rockling. if we had been told we would not have ordered it. steak was not cooked as requested. very disappointing!

great foods with great view , really like the scallop as an entree and the perfectly cooked medium beef, and of course not complete without dessert 👏🏻

we take a moment to enjoy the view; 190 degrees of western port bay. you can even see phillip island and beyond. working here must be really hard with a view like that! wish i captured a panoramic shot; but i’ll be heading down there again later this year, so i’ll do it then!

serious wine tasters only - welcomed!!. if you are not a serious wine taster then this is not the place to visit!! the staff are unable to see between the grapes as to people having a good fun time. max's - if you are only after a certain cliental then i suggest you put up a sign - saying serious wine tastings only - that way all the fun people will spend their money at all the other friendly and welcoming wineries in the area instead! pietrina

brilliant setting, great wait staff (cheers gary!) & lovely food. highlight were the mussels for entree. not as good as i'd hoped, but still yummy.

the food here was delicious and the wines not too shabby! my favourite though was the cheese platter that i had for dessert that totally rocked my world! a nice little find!

max's is definitely in my top 5. i love everything about this place. the food and service is consistently excellent and the setting looking over the vines to philip island is beautiful. the wine is sensational too. on last visit started with a stunning trio of seared scallops that were cooked perfectly and came with tiny roast parsnips and celeriac purée which was all such a classic combo done perfectly. the tuscan pork main seems to be a mainstay on the menu and was full of flavor. tender pork with crispy crackling, sitting on kipflers that soaked up all the flavour. the chocolate fondant pudding to finish was faultless. gooey in the middle to perfection! a perfectly structured 3 course lunch executed with skill and some of the best service you will find. max's is a massive hit for me.

nice place with great view. we ate here quite a few times.

the food is good, as for main; i recommend the beef and duck. and advises against the burramundi, which is a bit bland.

if you are there on sunday, then you have to go with a 'set menu' that includes entre, main, and dessert of your choice. other days you can order whatever you like.

the best thing about this place is the view, it has a commanding view over the wine valley, and you can see all the way out to the ocean. on a sunny day, it's wonderful to grab a table outside.

disappointing. have eaten at maxs twice now and wouldnt go back. very disappointing food. we expected more .

we had the three courses at max’s, i started with the salmon, had the charred trout for main and ended with the strawberries. the service and experience was lovely.

great service, the kitchen was happy to adjust for food allergies and service team happy to ensure it all went well. lovely fresh ingredients done with care and attention. a little out of the way but worth the visit if you are in the area.

a really disappointing experience. a table for 9 was booked, staff were informed it was a memorial lunch, later asked who’s birthday was it. food was great but very slow to serves with 20minutes between 1st to last main delivered. chef was rude when vegan options discussed and she had been told there were lots of options. she felt humiliated by him and ended up in tears. had to ask for water for the table twice. 20min later it arrived. beautiful setting, great food, rude chef and terrible service. never again.
