max's at red hill estate

serving sizing very small & meals not outstanding for the prices ($50 per course, $70 for two courses). $30 would be more appropriate for a main. beef meal was severely undercooked. fish main was boring and undersized. the view is lovely, the wine nice but
unfortunately this restaurant is over-hyped and disappointing.

unfortunately there was nothing good about my first visit to max's resteraunt. my main meal was cold and so was the side of fries. the waitress was rude and awkward, it took her 15 minutes to get the sugar for our coffee by which that time our coffee went cold. very disappointed, i will definetly not be returning.

my third time to maxs and won't be the last! the food just keeps getting better! i loved the pork and my partner had the venison, he loved his as well, fantastic out look over looking the bay, we will be back soon

this is where we love to come and enjoy a glass of wine and fab food, 3 courses for $80 including a glass of wine has to be the best value in town, not to mention the staff and the view!! we will be back

what a way to spend easter. my family and i went down to the mornington peninsula for easter and had lunch at max's! the staff here are so friendly and the food was amazing, we had the three courts option for $80, what value for money. can't wait to go back again. well done.

i had dinner at max's last night, once again the food was fantastic, and the service excellent, max him self was there and announced that he just won victotiain tourism restaurant of the year!! viva max. well done

absolutely amazing food, great service and fabulous wines. could not fault it.

food is excellent along with good quality wines and views to die for.highly recommended especially for sunday lunch.

we had dinner later that night at an institution in the mornington peninsula, max's restaurant at red hill estate. the highlight for me being my dessert of cacao mousse, crumbly coffee honeycomb with a palate-cleansing milk sherbet.

our group of 4 had the $100 3 course with matching wine. everything was exceptional. service was top notch. i wouldn't hesitate to return!

dont bother, not worth the money, worst in the red hill area. had a meal here a few weeks ago with some guests, the service was lousy, the meal was very average for the price, they charge for water were its free at all other places on peninsula. will never go back as very unhappy with this restaurant, if you want better just go further down the road like we are now

over priced and staff member was rude. felt as though he insinuated we didn't have enough money to afford the meal. walked out before ordering anything!!!

so very very disappointing. the prices were excessive for the quality of the food, although the view and service were fine. the place is really let down by its kitchen.

the entree of whiting was a very small portion, in fact, we were all wondering whether they should have been thrown back ! we were kept waiting for almost two hours for our mains, and the meals didn't come out together. i ordered the pork, it was ok - however, the crackling didn't crack!

we were seated outside, despite inclement weather.... we were cold and irk 'twas unpleasant. if the restraunter wanted to fit in an extra table they should have checked the weather forecast first. it was just a terrible terrible overpriced experience. dissapointing for the price.

headed to red hill for lunch and have to admit i am still undecided as to wether i like it or not. the location is beautiful, staff are lovely and attentitive. but the food to me, wasn't good enough. the raviolo was hard around the edges, though the bug was quite nice. the fish was just okay. desert was the best part.

i don't think i'd give it another try, nothing really grabbed me apart from the view. perhaps it was just an off day? given the price i'm not sure it lives up to expectation.

what a shame, this place could be amazing. after reading other reviews we were drawn to max's for the view, but like other reviews, totally underwhelmed. the service staff were super nice but had trouble trying to find which tables ordered the food they were delivering. our food took for ever to turn up and when it did arrive, was pretty mediocre, for the price you pay. the food simply doesn't match the price, but the view is incredible. the potential is there!

whenever we have international guests we dine at max's! basically the food the service and the view! what more could one want! hugo explained to us there upcoming event "winter feast" 17/08/2013 dinner! we're booked in and can't wait if it's anything like the annual italian dinners, i'll be a king! we just love dining at max's bravo max! cheers vincent and co

have to say i was disappointed with the quality of the food. they charge premium prices and i expected a lot better. even if it was modestly priced it was simply not up to scratch. when paying $30 for a kids meal of chicken strips (crumbed) and chips with ice-cream dessert i don't expect it to be like leather with soggy fries on the side.
my entree of calamari was a disservice to the poor critter that died so i could eat it. the steak as a main, whilst cooked well was garnished with in-edible mush. the flavour was seriously lacking as well. so there goes $70 dollars out the window (just for the entree and main offering)
huge price tag for simply poor quality (after they cooked it) food.
service was cheerful and the wait staff were lovely but my table of 8 won't be back.
