amazing food. i love this place. my only issue is that it is that the biscuits seem to be shrinking and it is not open seven days a week. the fact that i can't get a squawking goat past 2pm most days burns my... well, burns my biscuit. if i want one at 3pm on a firday i have to wait an hour and that makes me hangry. if i want it at 3pm m-th, i'm just sol.
the biscuits are these awesome hunks of buttery, fatty goodness and the chicken is usually good enough to rival black sheep's ridiculous sunday chicken dinner. have had one or two meals out of about 20 that were not up to par but maple street in san marco is usually fairly consistent.
the atmosphere is decent. i enjoy hearing some good bluegrass and old-timey music whilst i dine, no matter how homogenized some of it may be.
basically, the food is so good that it doesn't bother me that the owners came together at a christian church and the whole place seems to have a bit of a christian under-current. as a witch, this should be enough to turn my stomach but these f#%@ing biscuits are that good. it's a little pricey but that helps keep it from looking like a mcdonalds on the west side. although, some of the yuppie scum are just as bad. all in all a nice dining experience.
